I am unable to browse a simple asp.net page from a remote PC through the IP address of that computer. However IIS is responding on a local computer with http://localhost and even when I type the local computer's IP address where the page is present. Computer is running XP and IIS 5.1. The message displayed on browser is "The server is taking too long to respond" however the page is just "Hello World" which displays local time.

I have win 7 with internet explorer 8. I have a Web application project in the VS2010, when I execute it using local port auto-asign port, the aspx page shows ok on the internet explorer. When I run the same project from the IIS (Browsing the aspx page from the iis), only the controls text is displays without the controls (colors and menus) - although the source view shows that the tags exists. Is it a problem with the IIS 7?

View 4 RepliesI am maintaining a web site project in VS2005 and have to call a new web service on a remote server. I've done add web reference, and created the .wsdl and .discomap files in the app_webReference folder. When I try to create a object representing the web service in the code ( wsnamespace.serviceName ws = new wsnamespce.serviceName(); ) the code wouldn't compile.
The web site project is already calling other web services. When I right click on the type representing the web service and "go to definition" it takes me to a proxy class (derived from of course SoapHttpClientProtocol) in the metadata. I think this is what's missing for the new web service i'm trying to call. Have I missed any steps?

I have not add any .NET code yet. However when I try to browse to this page, I get a 404 error. I can browse to .HTM files fine, but .ASP file seem to lock up.
I would like, as administrator, list all users currently browsing the web-page (some id or something would be enough) then, what I need is to connect to that user and see what he is browsing. I have a class in my web-application, lets call it Node, in wich I store data what user is browsing. So which page he has clicked, so the next time he visit the same page, page is not rendered from db but from that Node. Is that even possible?

I sent a lot of time trying to trouble shoot IIS 6.0 yesterday on a pre-compiled website. I could never browse the default web page. I got the initial bar on the bottom right when I set up the site but then got a blank page. The I got frustrated with IIS and decided to try just copying all my web application files to the IIS server. When I did this the application worked! I have used pre-compiled sites before with no problem.

View 7 RepliesI have an aspx application with 2 aspx pages. Second aspx page will get opened on click of a button in first aspx page using JavaScript. The problem is, when the second aspx page is getting opened, its Page_load event is not firing. Only when I refresh the second page, page_load event of second aspx page is fired. what might be the problem and what is to be done to fire the page_load event.
View 1 RepliesI wrote a test page that does a bunch of busy work in a method called at page load. This process as I have it now takes around 12 seconds.
If I try to load another page while the first long running page is loading, this second page doing nothing except writing out a world, it doesn't load until the first long running page is finished.
Why is this the case? I would think IIS would be able to handle multiple concurrent connections, it seems crazy that one long running page would stop every other page in the application from loading. I must be missing something or not understand how IIS works.
I would think multiple independent requests would be spawned on different threads. Is this only the case if the requests are from different sessions entirely? Are all requests from a single session bound to a single thread?
I have page A.aspx where I show some result in listview. When I click On Some data on listview I go to page B.aspx. Now the problem is when I click on back in page B.aspx it comes to A.aspx with out previous listview result. Ack requirement is when I come to page A.aspx result of listview has to be there. How do i do that?
View 2 RepliesI work in VS 2008. Whenver I add a server control(Label) and set it properties in aspx.vb and build the solution, I get the error "Label1 not declared". While analyzing this issue I noticed that the event handler statements for the Label1 where not added in the designer.asp.vb file. These statement would actually be added automatically when I drag and drop a control to my webpage.
I would also like to inform the scenario after which this problem came to me. I was working in VS 2008 , VS 2005 and VS 2003 in the same machine.Could this have caused the issue ?
Now each and everytime when I add a control, I am adding the "With Events" code in the designer page to make my build succesfull which makes me to spend more efforts.

In the database each record gets an ID field. Now when the users clicks submit and goes to the next page, i want the ID's (they could be 1 to 1000+) from the DB that he just inserted and have them available on the second page. how can i take all the id's from page 1 to page 2? can i do it in session? or something else.
