I got an error about OleDB. I just want my excel file import to Gridview. Here is my code.
string connstr =
"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.Oledb.4.0;Data
Source=C:a.xls;Extended
Properties=Excel 8.0;HDR=YES;IMEX=1";
OleDbConnection conn = new OleDbConnection(connstr);
string strSQL = "Select * from [Sheet1$]";
OleDbCommand cmd = new OleDbCommand(strSQL, conn);
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
OleDbDataAdapter da = new OleDbDataAdapter(cmd);
da.Fill(ds);
GridView1.DataSource = ds;
GridView1.DataBind();
When i build project there is no error but when i run this project i got an error like this:
System.ArgumentException:Format of the
initialization string does not conform
to specification starting at index 47.
Line 21: string connstr =
"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.Oledb.4.0;Data

I need to read an Excel work book with 2 sheet which have more than 60,000 records. The application is an ASP.Net application so the performance matters.
Which approach should I take? Sohuld I do it using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel or should I do it using OLEDB in ADO.Net?

I'm uploading an Excel file and then reading data using oledb connection in asp.net but I'm getting the following error: The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file ''. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.
Dim ocmd As New OleDbCommand("select * from [Sheet1$]", conn) Line 12: conn.Open() Line 13: Dim odr As OleDbDataReader = ocmd.ExecuteReader() conn.open() line is red highlighted for error.
The excel file is uploaded successfully and present in the folder.
I am using asp.net oledb to export information to excel file. I encounter problems when the information to export becomes too big, in this case the code I have given below, the excel file generated becomes an empty spreadsheet. If I changed the loop to 1123 for insertion of the rows. The generated excel file is fine, 1125 rows, and 4 columns shown. A test program in windows form is also working fine regardless of how many rows. Code has been simplified, "information ..." in the sql insertion command represents 1803 characters.
ExcelObjConn = "Provider=Microsoft.Ace.OLEDB.12.0;" & _ "Data Source=" & fileName & ";Extended Properties=Excel 12.0 XML" ExcelConnection = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(ExcelObjConn) ExcelConnection.Open() Try SqlCommand = "CREATE TABLE ABC ([row1] text, [row2] text, [row3] text, [row4] text)" ExcelCommand = New OleDb.OleDbCommand(SqlCommand, ExcelConnection) ExcelCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() ExcelCommand.Dispose() For i As Integer = 0 To 1124 SqlCommand = "Insert into ABC ([row1], [row2], [row3], [row4]) Values ('information...', 'information ...', 'information ...', 'information ...')" ExcelCommand = New OleDb.OleDbCommand(SqlCommand, ExcelConnection) ExcelCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() ExcelCommand.Dispose() Next Catch ex As Exception Finally If ExcelConnection IsNot Nothing Then ExcelConnection.Close() ExcelConnection.Dispose() End If End Try
I couldn't find a solution to my problem as well. What I did eventually was to run the process using another separate windows service. The code works perfectly fine running from a windows form or service program, but not asp.net, not sure why.
I am using AS 400 OLEDB with .NET. It uses '?' instead of '@param to bind parameters with a commandNow there is a situation where the command is like
SELECT ... FROM (SELECT ... ROW_NUMBER() OVER(ORDER BY ColumnName) as RowNum FROM Employees e ) as DerivedTableName WHERE RowNum BETWEEN @startRowIndex AND (@startRowIndex + @maximumRows) - 1 Now my command becomes SELECT ... FROM [code]...
- I have a situation in which I must execute a dynamically built stored procedure against tables that may, or may not be in the database. The data retrieved is then shunted to a VB.Net backed ASP based report page. By design, if the tables are not present in the database, the relevant data is automatically hidden on the report page. Currently, I'm doing this by checking for the inevitable error, and hiding the div in the catch block. A bit kludgy, but it worked. I can't include the VB code-behind, but the relevant stored procedure is included below.
However, a problem with this method was recently brought to my attention when, for no apparent reason, the div was being hidden even though the proper data was available. As it turned out, the user trying to select the table in the dynamic SQL call didn't have the proper select permissions, an easy enough fix once I could track it down. So, two fold question. First and foremost - is there a better way to check for a missing table than through catching the error in the VB.Net codebehind? All things considered, I'd rather save the error checking for an actual error. Secondly, is there a preferred method to squirrel out a particular OLE DB error out of the general object caught by the try->catch block other than just checking the actual stack trace string?
SQL Query - The main gist of the code is that, due to the design of the database, I have to determine the name of the actual table being targeted manually. The database records jobs in a single table, but each job also gets its own table for processing data on the items processed in that job, and it's data from those tables I have to retrieve. Absolutely nothing I can do about this setup, unfortunately.
DECLARE @sql NVarChar(Max), @params NVarChar(Max), @where NVarChar(Max) -- Retained for live testing of stored procedure. -- DECLARE @Table NvarChar(255) SET @Table = N'tblMSGExportMessage_10000' -- DECLARE @AcctID Integer SET @AcctID = 10000 -- DECLARE @Type Integer SET @Type = 0 -- 0 = Errors only, 1 = All Messages -- DECLARE @Count Integer -- Sets our parameters for our two dynamic SQL calls. SELECT @params = N'@MsgExportAccount INT, @cnt INT OUTPUT' -- Sets our where clause dependent upon whether we want all results or just errors............................
I have what would seem like a fairly straightforward task: Export a report (GridView) to a spreadsheet, so that the client (user) can use the data elsewhere. I thought I found a very elegant solution. Here is the code:
Code: Protected Sub btnWrite2Exell_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnWrite2Exell.Click Response.Clear() Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=FileName.xls") Response.Charset = ""
[Code] ...
With a little putsing I got it to work, which is good, EXCEPT that it precedes opening the spreadsheet with a warning that looks like this:
I am using forms authentication and authorization through roleManager. I have two Roles - "Customers" and "Employees". The redirection to the default page for the "Customers" role is working fine, but I get an oledb error stating that one or more parameters are not being passed when I redirect a user from the "Employees" role. The following is the code in login.aspx that handles the authentication of the user:
If myReader.Read() Then ' We have a match If myReader(1) Then ' This is true if an Employee and false otherwise If Not Roles.IsUserInRole(logInUser.UserName, "Employees") Then Roles.AddUserToRole(logInUser.UserName, "Employees") End If ElseIf Not Roles.IsUserInRole(logInUser.UserName, "Customers") Then Roles.AddUserToRole(logInUser.UserName, "Customers") End If FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(logInUser.UserName, logInUser.RememberMeSet) Else Response.Write("Invalid credentials") End If............................................
I am exporting GridView to Excel but keep on getting a pop up "The file you are trying to open, 'somefile.xls' is in a different format than specidied by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?When I click "yes" the file opens fine. But why I am getting the pop up at the first place.Also as I have Office 2007 on my machine
I am using the following code to export a Gridview to an Excel spreadsheet. It works great until I select more than 10 records. At the 11th record I get an error on the line of code that reads....GridView1.RenderControl(hw)The error reads....RegisterForEventValidation can only be called during Render(); Description:An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request.Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.Exception Details: System.InvalidOperationException: RegisterForEventValidation can only be called during Render();Source Error:
When i try to bind the data to gridview/listview from access file using oledb provider its throwing an error specifying that "The 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.14.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.".

And by seeing some articles i changed "Enabled 32 bit applications" as True from IIS. And i have downloaded some DataContext's to work for access, but no use, its not working.
I am developing one web application using MS Access database using oledb connection.Previously i checked the same application is works well in the same machine.Now Today i checked they provide "Unspecified Error". And also Provide the following Exception:

How can I export data from a Gridview to excel and once exported the data should be formatted in right to left (arabic) manner. How can I achieve this?
I'm exporting a Gridview to excel. I get all the gridview header and content in excel in addition to that i need to add a header text like report name in header of the excel sheet with line break in header.
I tried the solution in this link [URL] by adding
Table.Caption = "Header Text" Table.CaptionAlign = TableCaptionAlign.Top but i get error Reference to a non shared member requires an object reference.
I am exporting a gridview in MS Excel as mentioned in the following link:

I want to set orientation of excel pages as landscape. Is there any way to do that? Any header information to be added for file being exported to set orientation of pages as landscape?
Now the same code when I copy it in my project having masterpage . there is no compiler error but it is genereating excel file withno data in it but in fact there is data in the grid view at runtime.
I have a GridView that I want to export to Excel. When I use the sample code I find online, it exports the content to Excel just fine, but for some reason it also clears out all grid lines outside of my exported table.
For your average excel user this is easy enough to fix, but I need this solution to work for everyone.
So then is there a way to export the data in a GridView into an Excel Workbook so that it looks like it was just typed into Excel? I've pasted the code I am using below, assume that a GridView called toPrint exists and has accurate data.
Response.Clear(); Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + name + "_Registration_Forms.xls"); Response.Charset = ""; Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"; Page.EnableViewState = false; System.IO.StringWriter stringWrite = new System.IO.StringWriter(); System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter htmlWrite = new HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite); toPrint.RenderControl(htmlWrite); Response.Write(stringWrite.ToString()); Response.End();
EDIT: Found one partial solution. If I export as a comma-delimited list and set the header to be a CSV file, it opens fine and all grid lines (even those outside of the exported data) are showing. The only problem with this of course is having to strip out every comma and newline character from my values before exporting them.
