Change Rows On Gridview Depending On SQL Query Result?

Dec 6, 2010

Im trying to change the information on each row depending on the result from the query. Im thinking that at the minute my problem is that I'm only returning the first result from the query into the result.

e.g. query returns row 1 with '1232' row 2 '1243' but result is only ever set to '1232'

Function Chaining Depending On Boolean Result

Jun 7, 2010

This is just an efficiency question really.. I'm interested to know if there is a more efficient or logical way that people use to handle this sort of scenario.

In my asp.net application I am running a script to generate a new project my code at the top level looks like this:

[code]....

I create a boolean and each function returns a boolean result, the next function in this chain will only run if the previous one was successful. I do this because an asp.net application will continue to run through the page life cycle unless there is an unhandled exception and I don't want my whole application to be screwed up if something in the chain goes wrong (there is a lot of copying and deleting of files etc.. in this example).

Forms Data Controls :: TemplateField Change Itemtemplate Label CSS Depending On Column Value For Each Row In Gridview?

Jan 28, 2011

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a template field which has four itemtemplates that each hold a label in a gridview. These labels are always constant with the same strings. What I want to do is change the css formatting of these four labels depending on the value of a column. So the css formatting would have to be done for each row, not the whole column. I bind the gridview to a dataaccesslayer so there is no sqldatasource on the page. Does anyone have any idea how to do this and where it would be done. I will have the dataview with the data sorted in the correct order. The actual column that is used to alter the CSS will not be in the gridview although I could assign it to the datakeyname if that makes it easier as the data is not sensitive.

Changing Page Title Dynamically Depending On A Databinding Result?

Oct 26, 2010

I have a page to show a thread content, it take the ID of the thread from the query string.

depending on the ID, I show the content using the FormView control.

how could I then change the page title depending on the databinding result?

I've figured out that I can do that before the databinding in the Page_Load event, by querying the title of the thread depending on the ID from the QueryString object, but I'm wondering if I can achieve my goal during the databinding!

Forms Data Controls :: GridView - Change Background Every Three Rows

Dec 14, 2010

This should not be to hard but my head is not going for it today I have a gridview that changes the sales reps name every 3 rows. The data is group in 3 rows for each rep. estimates, job & invoices each have their own row I want to change the backgroup for each rep. I am using C# and I would guess it would be in the code behind file I got this far but can not remember a way to check the next row to make sure it is the same of changed from the previous row

protected void gvSaleReport_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
{
string prevRep;
prevRep = e.Row.Cells[0].Text;
if (prevRep == e.Row.Cells[0].Text)
e.Row.BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.Blue;
else
e.Row.BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.White;

MVC2 : Modifying Master Css Property Depending On Query String Parameter

Sep 17, 2010

In the original site, master page has code-behind to check a query string parameter value. Depending on this value, code-behind dynamically modify some CSS property to hide / display master page elements.

As MVC2 has no code-behind because we are supposed to perform everything in the controllers, how should I proceed in this case ?

I see this : [URL]

It partially answers my needs but the query string processing is common to all pages. How can I move this processing in a common code section ?

Web Forms :: Populate Textbox Using SQL Database Query / Depending On A Dropdown List Selection

Apr 8, 2010

I would like to alter the query that is run, depending on the selection made by the user in a drop down list on the same page. Would this best be done using a partial page update (AJAX)? Ideally it would be great to have the textbox result change quickly once the drop-down list value has changed, without a full page postback. I would like to change the SQL query to a completely different query if the user selects an option different to the default (page_load value) in the drop-down list. I would then like the newly retrieved result to be displayed in the textbox as before.

My current VB function looks like this:
