Configuration :: Browser Freezes - Have To Restart Iis For Next Request (related To Printing)
Apr 9, 2010
I am working with three machines. The printer is shared and it is attached to one machine. Second machine contains published pages and on third machine I am developing the application. I have an application which uses combit's list & label for label printing. I am able to print label from the project. Means while debugging the project, printing works fine without any problem(from the development machine). But when I deploy(publish) this project in IIS by making virtual directory and then try to run, it does not work(on deployment machine). The browser freezes and does not show any error as well. After closing browser and running the same page takes a lot of time just to load the page.(not even shows the complete GUI, just white page...) Eventually I have to restart the IIS. Does anybody have idea regarding this?
I just released a new version of my web application on ASP.NET V4.0 (on IIS 7 Win2008 R2) For some reason, the application Restarts at (almost) every request. I cannot figure out what configuration (although I didn't change it) or code error may cause this problem. Mind this happens on a hosted server - so I have a somewhat limited ability to debug it.
I've done a very basic asp.net test page that populates dinamically (with items from 0 to 99) an asp:listbox on the onload event (only once, if not ispostback).
The asp:listbox is static, and there's an asp:button that I use only to produce a postback (it has no onclick server code)
When I execute it under II6 it works perfecty, but under IIS7 I get a strange behaviour: every now and then, when I push the asp:button, the page freezes and it's unable to postback.
I don't get a specific asp.net error as usual, just a blank page as if the website didn't exist!
The message is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
My asp.net application working fine but sometime it suddenly stops and cannot display a page. After restart the PC it works fine again.I am not getting whats the problem. I also restart the IIS then also it not work.
I have strange problem with missing assembly of my application after IIS restart. My application is installed correctly to IIS 7.5 (windows 7) and works fineAfterwards I make a restart of IIS serverNow my application is not working properly, some classes (assemblies) are missing. I've insterted a code to my application that writes all avaible assemblies into my log file (see code below ) and really a few assemblies are missing[Code]....
Restart of IIS or even restart of windows is not enoughThe workaround is to make some change in web.config or to rewrite some *.dll by the same dll library (in order to force IIS to reload whole application)afterwards it works fine again (till next restart of IIS) for better understanding I've recorded a video for you [URL] Do you have any idea how to solve it? or what what to check? (My application is based on ASP.NET and I'm using ported version of Jade framework (framework originally created in Java).) This problem is related to another problem on this forum [URL]
Lately it's been taking about 15-30 seconds for my site to respond after copying new files into the bin folder. I do updates throughout the day to fix bugs, add new features, etc. It used to only take a couple seconds.
I have 4 files that get copied into the bin directory regularly. 2 DLLs and 2 PDB.s I use debug mode (I prefer it for the errors since right now I'm updating frequently), but have also tried release mode and it didn't make a difference. 3 files are 1MB and the other is 400KB. I've also cleaned and re-built but still the same.
It was only taking a couple seconds for the app to restart until a day or two ago. I'm not sure what changed. This is an active site so having a long delay is a problem. I've been tempted to try an iisreset, but that'll really create a problem for users on the site.
This is with IIS6, Win 2003, and .NET 3.5.
I looked in the .NET temp folder and it's not filled with garbage.
I am very new to asp.net. I developed one application. In that I have two pages. First page contains Application.Get() in page load event, here I read this Application variable, initially it returns NULL. If it is NULL, I make some buttons invisible. Then I jump to second page, in that page contains Application.Set(). Again I jump from second page to first page, this time Application.Get() is not NULL, I make some buttons visible. This is ok, if I execute the program in .net software.
But, when I publish this same program to web server like IIS, it is not working properly. After publishing very first time the first page returns NULL after that it doesnt return NULL even I closed the browser. I dont know why. In program, I used 2.0 framework. IIS also has 2.0 framework. Please clear this issue.
I have a textbox where i need to insert manually some data, but that data is dependent on what is selected on a combobox.
So, to be easy to understand i give an example.
Combobox selected value "A" ---> Can only insert in textbox values "1,2,3,4,5" Combobox selected value "B" ---> Can only insert in textbox values "6,7,8,9,10"
CWe've internal application written in ASP.NET, AJAX, SQL 2005. The problem is that sometimes response time (post back) is raising up to 10-30 second for some reson. The only way to make it faster is to restart browser (IE). Then it works really fast.
I have no clue what is causing this. Maybe it's viewstate, browser cache, browser memory clogging - I DON'T KNOW. The only thing I know is when I shut and reopen browser it's working fine. If I leave it open and come back in an hour or two it's really slow.
am format my system and re install every things before installation i am copy my websites from "C:Documents and SettingsAlphaMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2008WebSites" after installation i am just replace "My DocumentsVisual Studio 2008WebSites" folder with my old "My DocumentsVisual Studio 2008WebSites" folder now i am try to run my website locally its make following error. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
I am working on a web application. Some images are calling a web provider, which renders the picture, and send it to the client (the html looks like img ... src="/WebProviders/ImageHandler.ashx?.../>).The problem I have encountered is that both IE8 and Firefox 3.6.8 fire the request to the handler more than once, yet not consistently. I could not trace a pattern (the same image sometimes cause one and sometimes several requests).
To prevent duplicate requests (i.e. pressing F5 right after clicking a command button), I've setup my page base class to ignore the request if it's detected as a duplicate.
When I say 'ignore' I mean Response.End()
Now I thought I've seen this work before, where there's an issue, I just Response.End() and the users page just does nothing. I don't know the exact circumstance in which this worked, but I'm unable to repeat it now.
Now when I call Response.End(), I just get an empty browser. More specifically, I get this html.
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></HEAD> <BODY></BODY></HTML>
I setup the following test app to confirm the problem is not elsewhere in my app. Here it is:
When you load the page, clicking any button does what is expected, but if you press F5 at any time after pressing one of the buttons, it will detect it as a duplicate request and call Response.End() which promptly ends the task. Which leaves the user with an empty browser.
Is there anyway to leave the user with the page as it was, so they can just click a button?
Also; please note that this code is the simplest code I could come up with to demonstrate my problem. It's not meant to demonstrate how to check for dup requests.
EDIT: Another change that will allow me to achieve the same results would be to disable all my event handlers.
The Request.Browser.Cookies property (of type bool) attribute stores information whether client's browser supports cookies and whether or not they are enabled. How reliable is the property Request.Browser.Cookies? Is it guaranteed to be correct ? Or should I rather implement redirection technique suggested by Software Monkey in this question? Please note: This in not a question "are cookies reliable" ? This is a question: "Is the information whether users browser accepts cookies reliable?"
I'm using httpwebrequest but I have a problem when I execute the codes. Like this..in title english = browser not supported. how can I skip this protection this is a facebook protection.
We have created a new cname for our subdomain website. The new website is working properly with cname. We do have .net application inside the webiste which is not working with cname. For eg,1. http://servername/_folder1/app/mypage.aspx (Accessing .net application (App) website without cname)2. http://NewDomian.xxxx/app/mypage.aspx (Accessing .net application (App) website with cname)The first case is working perfectly, but when I access the second url, I got the following error.Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. I am REALLY stuck with this and need a solution in the next 24 hours .i I have uploaded my asp.net web application to the web and have the database and connection strings functioning and reading the data from the database. But when I try to write to the DB
I get the following error :
Server Error in '/' Application.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
Description:An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
The wierd thing about this is the connection strings work from the local machine when I run from Visual Studio and I can write to the DB there, I just cannot write to the DB from the URL.
I am pretty new to asp.net but I am sure it has to be something to do with the web.config.
There is one page which is actually a streaming to The Axis IP camera which spits MJPEG output. It requires user to log in with the user name/password promp on browser .I am using this stream to show video directly on a web page.It shows video correctly but asks user to provide correct user name and password set for the camera,I tried to logging in to this camera on server side using HTTP requests and then I realized I authenticated server request not the browser the end user is using.
So what I want is a method server side or client side, that can allow me to log-in to camera automatically when my end-users visit this page.I am using asp.net with c# 2005
We have a page that is opened in the child window using window.open. Now the user will copy the child's window Url and copy-paste it in the browser. We need to restrict this scenario. How should we do this. I mean I need to know in my page load method whether the request has come from window.open or whether the user copy-pasted the Url on the Browser's Address bar.
I'm making a web site in ASP.NET. Until now i was always debugging with Firefox. After i implemented an UpdatePanel i wanted to test it also on internet explorer. If i choose IE as standard browser then is the debugging of visual studio very very very slow and it crashes also (on second time debugging).
I also have seen that every time i do ctrl-F5, then a new ASP.NET Development Server starts with a different port, in Firefox there is always 1 ASP.NET Development Server...
I'm writing and webpart and got a problem with and imagebutton in and datalist the imagebutton executes and command "FileUrl" that needs to open and tiff file from the fileserver. I like to keep the webpart active so the user can click on and other imagebutton. This works fine only when I do the Response.Redirect to the GetTiff.aspx page that handels the files the webpart freezes and I need to refresh the webpart. What am I doing wrong?
i have visual studio 2008 and ms office 2007..when i try to develop a web application in vs 2008, i didnt able to open the design view of the web page.. i can only able to see the source view..came to know by googling as, there is some compatibility issues between vs 2008 and ms office 2007 in web authoring components.
I recently downloaded Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition.
When I try to click on the Design button or the Split button, the whole IDE freezes.
I tried to reinstall several times, without success.
According to some another post I read, this problem is related to the Web Authoring tool. I followed the indications given and tried to repair the Web Authoring tool with no success.
I tried to reinstall the whole thing with the McAfee Anti Virus disabled. No change.
