Configuration :: Simple Page Freezes On IIS7 And Works On IIS6?

Jul 13, 2010

I've done a very basic asp.net test page that populates dinamically (with items from 0 to 99) an asp:listbox on the onload event (only once, if not ispostback).

The asp:listbox is static, and there's an asp:button that I use only to produce a postback (it has no onclick server code)

When I execute it under II6 it works perfecty, but under IIS7 I get a strange behaviour: every now and then, when I push the asp:button, the page freezes and it's unable to postback.

I don't get a specific asp.net error as usual, just a blank page as if the website didn't exist!

The message is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

Configuration :: IIS6 Only Serves One .ASPX Page At A Time?

Jun 18, 2010

I have an .ASPX page that runs some C# code-behind for about 60 seconds after the page is requested. After 60 seconds, the page appears as expected in Internet Explorer.During this 60 second time period, IIS will not serve new requests for OTHER .ASPX pages. However, .HTM files continue to be served fine. The CPU is only at 1%.Is it true that IIS only can process one .ASPX request at a time? This can't be true. All IIS settings are default.

File Upload/ Difference Between IIS6 Or IIS7?

Sep 15, 2010

Given the following code which is extremely generic, I was hoping someone could tell me a bit about what is going on behind the scenes...

[HttpPost]
public ActionResult Load(Guid regionID, HttpPostedFileBase file)
{
if (file.ContentLength == 0)
RedirectToAction("blablabla.....");

var fileBytes = new byte[file.ContentLength];
file.InputStream.Read(fileBytes, 0, file.ContentLength);
}

Specifically, is the file completely uploaded to the server before my action method is invoked? Or is it the file.InputStream.Read() method call that causes or rather waits for the entire file to upload. Can I do partial reads on the stream and gain access to the "chunks" of the file as it is uploaded? (If the entire fire is uploaded before my method is invoked then it is all a moot point.) Is there any difference between IIS6 or II7 here?

We are migrating an existing asp.net application from Windows Server 2003 with IIS6 to windows server 2008 with IIS7.

I'm also not sure why it's telling me to install ASP.NET.Google is being entirely unhelpful, I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions. I'm running Vista Ultimate 64Bit

Configuration :: Browser Freezes - Have To Restart Iis For Next Request (related To Printing)

Apr 9, 2010

I am working with three machines. The printer is shared and it is attached to one machine. Second machine contains published pages and on third machine I am developing the application. I have an application which uses combit's list & label for label printing. I am able to print label from the project. Means while debugging the project, printing works fine without any problem(from the development machine). But when I deploy(publish) this project in IIS by making virtual directory and then try to run, it does not work(on deployment machine). The browser freezes and does not show any error as well. After closing browser and running the same page takes a lot of time just to load the page.(not even shows the complete GUI, just white page...) Eventually I have to restart the IIS. Does anybody have idea regarding this?

Configuration :: Default Page Not Working On IIS7 With URL Rewrite Http Module

Jan 18, 2010

I have the following setting in my web.config to redirect to a default page:

<defaultDocument>
<files>
<clear/>
<add value="default.aspx"/>
</files>
</defaultDocument>

For example when a user enters www.homeforhire.com they should be redirected to default.aspx (for operational reasons the user is then redirected to
www.homeforhire.com/home.aspx).

Instead an error is caught in the Rewrite module (which should not be activated). I am using an http module to perform URL rewriting.

It appears as if the default document setup is not working correctly, and the requested page ~/ is being sent to the Rewrite module, causing an error (which is then caught by my error handler and the user is redirected to the home page).

Entering www.homeforhire.com/default.aspx works correctly.

Can anyone tell me why the default document settings in the web.config do not appear to be working?

The problem, however, is that "no AJAX happens" when I try to use the app. This has happened on two separate PCs running Windows 7 - one with Pro and another running Ultimate, all 64-bit One machine was also running Visual Studio 2010 beta 2).When I hit a page with some of the toolkit controls, the page renders normally and I see a lot of script references in the generated HTML so something's happening. MVC :: Very Low IIS7 / MVC2 Stress-testing Performance With A Real Simple Request?

Jul 22, 2010

I'm currently developing a few ASP.NET MVC2/.NET 3.5SP1 web-services that are mostly IO bound (execute a couple HTTP back end calls + DB write per request) and i'm getting really poor load-testing performance.

To make sure it wasn't something in my application, I created a brand new ASP MVC 2 project (project -> new -> "ASP.NET MVC2 Web Application", based on .NET 3.5 SP1), added a "TestController" with the following action:

[Code]....

I deployed this on a dual-core test server, running Win2008 and IIS7, Application Pool set to "integrated mode". I have the following in my C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFramework64v2.0.50727Aspnet.config:

[Code]....

Just in case, I added the following DWORD key in the registry:

[Code]....

I verified I was able to access my test action from a regular browser and started a load test from another machine on the same network: user load set to 500, no "think" time.

The following is what I observe on the machine running the loadtest after about 8 minutes:

req/s: 5.98avg response time: 78.4 secondsno errors whatsoevernote that the local CPU is 1-2% On the test server, this is what I observe using perfmon:

request current: flat line at 501request execution time: flat line at 1506 ms avg => this makes sense though I don't understand why I see the request coming back after 78 seconds at the other end% proc time avg < 1%request queued as well as all others asp.net v2.0.50727 counters at 0 I don't get it. I believe the expected behavior would be to see about 333 req/s (500/1.5) with a avp response time of 1.5xx seconds...

State Management :: SessionState Works In VWD 2010 Debug, IIS 5.1 But Not On WS2008 (IIS7.5)

Sep 8, 2010

I'm building a site using the .NET 4 framework using routing and MasterPages.

Because I'm using both routing and MasterPages, I can't see any way how to get value from control on the previous page. To solve this I've used the code behind to store the control's value in a session variable. This works fine in VWD debug mode and in IIS 5.1, but when I try to deploy it on my Windows Server 2008 (IIS7.5) machine, it get this error:

Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. also make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the <configuration><system.web><httpModules> section in the application configuration.

UrlRewriting.Net Configuration For Iis6

Jul 23, 2010

I have a fully dynamic application that uses UrlRewriting.Net that works perfectly within the visual studio environment. As you can see from the rules within the web.config file below, UrlRewriting.Net rewrites the destination as "~/index.aspx?URLPath=$1&URLString=$2", basically index.aspx searches the database for the page properties and builds the page based on the parameters passed. There are no physical files for the website, only index.aspx with all pages and its webparts build dynamically on the fly.
The application is compiled as ASP.NET 3.5 and runs on a Windows Server 2003 x64 standard edition.

To my knowledge the configuration you see in the web.config below should work in iis6, however does not
. Does the installment of UrlRewriting.Net require configuration in iis6 as well?

Iis6 - Application Lifecycle - How To Check Configuration Properties Exist

Feb 22, 2011

I've written a singleton class that exposes the web.config properties in a nice get property kind of way.

I want a Load method to parse the data in the config and set the public properties, and I want to throw exceptions (so they are logged in the EventLog) when a configuration key is missing or can't be parsed.

I tried placing the Load() code in Application_Start of the global.asax but then remembered this will only be run once, or until the application restarts.

Where is the best place to put code that you need to run 'everytime' your site is started/run by the user? I basically want the website to stop functioning if certain config properties cannot be loaded.
