My asp.net application working fine but sometime it suddenly stops and cannot display a page.After restart the PC it works fine again.I am not getting whats the problem. I also restart the IIS then also it not work.
View 6 RepliesI just released a new version of my web application on ASP.NET V4.0 (on IIS 7 Win2008 R2) For some reason, the application Restarts at (almost) every request. I cannot figure out what configuration (although I didn't change it) or code error may cause this problem. Mind this happens on a hosted server - so I have a somewhat limited ability to debug it.

I know that whenever you add/remove/modify any file in the "App_Code", "App_GlobalResources", and "bin" directories that ASP.NET will recompile and essentially restart the application.My question is : "What happens to any threads currently executing durring the change?"Do they finish? Is a Thread.Abort Exception thrown?What happens if the application itself makes a change in any of those directories?
View 1 RepliesLately it's been taking about 15-30 seconds for my site to respond after copying new files into the bin folder. I do updates throughout the day to fix bugs, add new features, etc. It used to only take a couple seconds.
I have 4 files that get copied into the bin directory regularly. 2 DLLs and 2 PDB.s I use debug mode (I prefer it for the errors since right now I'm updating frequently), but have also tried release mode and it didn't make a difference. 3 files are 1MB and the other is 400KB. I've also cleaned and re-built but still the same.
It was only taking a couple seconds for the app to restart until a day or two ago. I'm not sure what changed. This is an active site so having a long delay is a problem. I've been tempted to try an iisreset, but that'll really create a problem for users on the site.
This is with IIS6, Win 2003, and .NET 3.5.
I looked in the .NET temp folder and it's not filled with garbage.
I am trying to register the route collection in .net based on each session. The code I have works fine, you goto website/username and it loads the correct sub pages, but you have to restart the application to goto website/username2 to load those sub pages. But when the application is restarted the second one works, but then not the first one. Is there some way to create a different route collection per session not per application using system.web.routing.
View 3 RepliesOn one server, everything works. I am attempting to call a C++ assembly from C#/ASP.NET application.
When I deploy the web application in another server, it fails with the error message:
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect" I have copied the dll into the correct folder which has permissions for the user and the application pool identity. The path has been added in the PATH variable. The DLL is fine and is not dependent on any other DLL.
I am working with three machines. The printer is shared and it is attached to one machine. Second machine contains published pages and on third machine I am developing the application. I have an application which uses combit's list & label for label printing. I am able to print label from the project. Means while debugging the project, printing works fine without any problem(from the development machine). But when I deploy(publish) this project in IIS by making virtual directory and then try to run, it does not work(on deployment machine). The browser freezes and does not show any error as well. After closing browser and running the same page takes a lot of time just to load the page.(not even shows the complete GUI, just white page...) Eventually I have to restart the IIS. Does anybody have idea regarding this?

View 1 RepliesI would like to start a System.Threading.Timer in my application when it launches (maybe deploy is the correct word). I have seen that you can use Application_Start() but this is only fired once the first request comes to the application. I need the timer to start as soon as the application is running so that it can check for work to process even if a user is not interacting with the site. How can I get the application to start the timer once it is up and running?

View 1 RepliesWhat is the right approach when users (authenticated domain admins) should be able to start batch jobs (usually exe files) from an IIS (7.x) aspx (c#) page? This is an intranet site. The batch jobs have to run on the web server as Domain Admins. The website pool is executed by network service or some similar restricted account in AD.
Approaches I can think of (and their disadvantages):
1. Start exe file with System.Diagnostics.Process.Start with another account. This feature is disabled in IIS 7.x, how do I allow it?
2. Create a sheduled task and call scheduled task-api. This unmanaged dll is giving VS compiler warnings because it's unsafe to call from managed code.
3. I suppose there's a better approach, because the previous suggestions doesn't appear safe or robust.
on desktop start has disappeared, getting above issue on double clicking/running any application.have VS2005 installed with sp1 and all other relevant updates as per MS..., i read some forums which states because of VC++ the system files may be currupted....have not installed VC++can anyone guide me the issue here and its solution...
View 3 RepliesCWe've internal application written in ASP.NET, AJAX, SQL 2005. The problem is that sometimes response time (post back) is raising up to 10-30 second for some reson. The only way to make it faster is to restart browser (IE). Then it works really fast.
I have no clue what is causing this. Maybe it's viewstate, browser cache, browser memory clogging - I DON'T KNOW. The only thing I know is when I shut and reopen browser it's working fine. If I leave it open and come back in an hour or two it's really slow.
I know that ASP.NET MVC has error filter attribute to handle specified error type. However, this feature cannot catch any error that occurs when application start. Therefore, I need to add some code to "Application_Error" method for handling this error like the following code.

I am very new to asp.net. I developed one application. In that I have two pages. First page contains Application.Get() in page load event, here I read this Application variable, initially it returns NULL. If it is NULL, I make some buttons invisible. Then I jump to second page, in that page contains Application.Set(). Again I jump from second page to first page, this time Application.Get() is not NULL, I make some buttons visible.This is ok, if I execute the program in .net software.
But, when I publish this same program to web server like IIS, it is not working properly. After publishing very first time the first page returns NULL after that it doesnt return NULL even I closed the browser. I dont know why. In program, I used 2.0 framework. IIS also has 2.0 framework. Please clear this issue.
I have a web app that needs to start an application. It works great when using the debug server from VS2010 but once I deploy the web app and use the local IIS 7.5 server the application process starts in the background (no UI just a process visible in the task manager). The process is owned by DefaultAppPool. I Added DefaultAppPool user & IIS_IUSRS group to the program folder permissions but still no luck.I've found this old link on this problem but the solution doesn't apply to IIS 7.5.

I host an Asp.net MVC 3 application running under an Application Pool Identity with Load User Profile = True. The Asp.net MVC 3 code contains a code that executes pdflatex.exe using System.Diagnostic.Process instance as follows:

I have a website hosted in IIS 6 and I can't start the website after I stop it. I have to bounce the whole box just to start the website again. I don't see anything logged in the event viewer and I don't know what is causing it.

When i try to stop IIS on remote PC, it raises error. I am using the following syntax "PsExec \Server2 -u Administrator -p somePassword IISReset /STOP". This works fine when called within VS IDE or from another C# code. However does not work when called from within asp.net app. I am using "Administrator" as user which has Admin access to both of machines.
While i am running my asp.net application , it show an message that Unable to start a dubug on webserver. Unable to Connect Webserver. Verify web server is running and that incoming Http request are not blocked by a firewall. My application is configured with local iis. Early it is working peoperly. Some time it wil not show when we edit iis property. But right now i can unable to proceed my application by running.

I have installed VS2008 on my development machine have winxp sp2 OS.i have created one aspx page where i have placed one button. On click of that button i want to open osk.exe(on screen keyboard). i an using following code

I am about to start a new application and am excited about using asp.net mvc and nhibernate. However, the big "problem" is how I handle the user authentication stuff. What are some ways those used to using nhibernate and MVC solve this problem?
My thought is let asp.net do its own thing and I do my own thing database wise. Am curios if I should role my own using the provider model and nhibernate, if I can figure out how. Or is there a way to integrate current code that is in the mvc example into nhibernate?
