I am using LocalReport class to render reports locally and then converting reports to pdf format and displaying to user. This works fine on my local machine but gettting error 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' when deployed to the development site. Do we need to install anything on the host server for localreports to work correctly?

i've written a small application using asp.net and sql server express.
my question is after checking the application in the visual studio environment how can i get it to work in a way that
users that are working on the same network as me could use it to?
i've changed the user instances option in the web.config file to false, and from the info i found so far i understand that security measures are to be applied, but i just couldn't get it to work...
i cant access crysrtal report after deployment in IIS i have depolyed my website the pages where my crystal report is just blank .. how can i access crystal reports????

I've deployed apps quite easily using the publishing wizard but I'm not sure how to do deploy to a windows server.. can someone please provide a link or a guide on how to do this as I need to set it all up and I really don't know where to start.

The problem is That when I run that app on development machine it updates table on remote server but after deploying it on production server and accesing the url on production server/and development machine my code doesn't execute and thus it don't update table.
I have created virtual direcotry and configured app with specific application pool which is custom based Asp.net account.
There is a company requirement to deploy ASP.net application on JBOSS server. Can anybody provide guidelines to do this.

I have tried to do it with FTP, but it keeps failing with the error that "Front Page Extensions are not installed on the web server". When I check the server the extensions were installed and I also checked IIS and the service for the extension is allowed.
View 6 RepliesI'm deploying a web site to a server I've set up for testing. The website works great in development (Running in VS 2010) as well as in production on multiple client sites. I'm simply trying to test the site in a new environment. I simply copied the complete site (pages, code, directories, everything...) to my server. In IIS7 I created a new web site pointing to the directory containing my site's files and directories. I can open my site and my initial login page loads.
Database connections are made, page and buttons all seem great. Then, I log in. In the first line of code that attempts to instantiate an instance of a class contained in my App_Code folder, an exception is thrown, 'Invalid object name'. I've messed with as many settings as I could in IIS7 but to no avail. I've searched the internet on something regarding this, but nothing seemed to apply. At this point I'm about ready to install Visual Studio on my server to get it to run (this was the route one of the other developers took).

In our solution we have a crystal report displayed on screen, we also have a copy of the report saved in temp file on the server.
We have tried using the Crystal Report ActiveX for printing and it works fine if the user has the proper access rights to their PC but in the environment it will be deployed there is no guarentee this would be the case.
I'm looking for a method (that doesnt involve ActiveX) of printing a file saved on the server (example a PDF file) to the users local printer.
The printer could be a shared printer on the network or a printer connected to their PC.
I am using XAMPP to publish my a .net application. The server is working fine. I created a sample login.aspx file, and it works fine. View 8 RepliesI've been using a standard web site in Visual Studio for my site, using the Plesk file manager interface to upload files either singly or in total as a .zip file.Recently I've changed the project to a VS web application.All the documentation that I see refers to using IIS to deploy a web app; if I wanted to just FTP all the source code, I may well have stayed with web site.I've not been able to find any Plesk specific deployment info.

View 3 Replies my ASP.NET app works fine on my development PC, but when I deploy it on the server, the Forms Authentication won't work. The page is being redirected to the "login.aspx" page, but when I enter a valid username/password and hit the login button, it also goes to the login.aspx page (with no errors and no throw, it keeps like this forever).
I am using the default ASP.NET Membership provider, I have setup the hosting server to be exactly as my PC, so both have same settings of IIS, ASP.NET 4.0 Global Configuration (in IIS), and SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.

I have a web site that has always run fine for years and years under 3.5. I converted it recently to run under 4.0, and it runs on Cassini fine. When I attempt to deploy the app to an IIS7 server that has 4.0 installed, all I get is "internal server error", and no error messages in the Event log, and nothing in the http logs.
I've double checked that the application pool I've deployed to is running 4.0.
It's an x64 web server and app (always has been while it was under 3.5.

I am trying to host a site on my local system and also tried it on my university server but am finding a great difficulty hosting the site. The site is made in ASP.NET C# and also have silverlight application in it. I am not able to configure or wither host the site on the server. I am having IIS 7 and Windows 7 as the OS. I have enabled IIS 7 on it. (I am using the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and have almost no knowledge on hosting on IIS 7)

Scope of project is to move everything from live site to local server and display/execute exactly the way it does on the livesite (web).
Already configured Windows 2003 server as IIS and successfully restored the database through SQL 2008.
Since I am new to ASP.net deployment this is where my trouble starts: manually copied httpdocs folder to local server, copy website through MS web developer and tried to run it on local machine http://127.0.x.x/default.aspx for the home page. from there I am getting a server error log specifically the line " <configuration xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/.NetConfiguration/v2.0">"
I know I have some work to do in here I do want to call the attention of ghw123 since he
is familiar with the dynamics of IIS and moving websites. Another thing I would like to point is the local server doesn't display any IP address when running ipconfig or ping from command prompt i simply pull out the ip info from the running IIS service itself. Lastly, I need to figure out which file/folders are really running on the livesite since there are lots of them (for other purpose maybe) on the remote server it is hosted.
