Configuration :: Enabling Muliti Core Features For An Existing Application?
Mar 11, 2010
I'm looking forward to enable my ASP.NET web application to utilize the Multi core processor. In Other words, I'm trying to have Multi-core functionality in my ASP.NET application.
"How to Integrate a CMS with an existing website". I have a prebuild asp.net website now i want to integrate a CMS thing with the website so that on the production floor, the admin of the website can add, edit, delete web pages according to his will without the involvement of a developer.
I understand that MVC can be added to an existing ASP.Net Webforms Web Site Project as explained in this post.
I am wondering if any expert here could tell us what MVC related functions of VS2010 would be missing in this scenario. For example, the very useful shortcuts of "Add View..." and "Go To View" seem to be missing. keep in mind this is about aWeb site project not Web application project so no project file (i.e. .csproj) is involved.
What I am trying to do is install an open source application to my existing asp.net website. Within my solution in VS2008, I have two "Web Sites", one for my web site and one for the application (forums).I have my web site published to the main domain, and the forums web site published to a subdomain. They both work great. The problem I am having is that I cannot get them to communicate to each other, for example they can't access each others resources. They each have a separate membership provider, but I am attempting to combine them so that if the user logs into one, they are logged into the other. The reason that I have these as two separate web sites within one project is so that the forums can be hosted at the subdomain and the site would just be the main domain. My question is, would it even be possible to accomplish what I am trying to do using separate domains, and if so what would be the best approach?
i have registered a domain and in IIS 7.5 created a new Website for this domain. It works great the ASP.NET website (BlogEngine), now i wanted to add another ASP.NET webapplication to call it something like this:[URL]I tried to add to my existing website, a virtaul path to the ASP.NET webapplication und converted to an application. after calling the URL i get an exception, that i could not load an assembly of the website (mydomain) : Could not load file or assembly 'BlogEngine.Core' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
i am trying to implement ldap features to my web application in asp.net C#......
i implemented the ldap features in such a way that,if the ldap path is given like:
ldap://serverneame/ou="sdfsd",dc=""",dc=""
this will allow all the groups under this server and domain how can i differentiate between the groups for example consider an hospital i want this application to be accesible only by doctors, even the cashiers of the hospital will be able to access my application, how should i not allow certain set of groups to be authenticated to my application.
I will be adding new pages and adding functionality to current pages.
I would basically like to use new technology and but I don't know how should I add it to classic ASP pages
In other words, can I <#--include--> an aspx page in Classic asp page? Or anything of that sort, may be creating a user control in ASP.NET and using it in classic ASP?
Im new to ASP.net. But im really interested about learning ASP.net and related technologies. I referred to sevaral Ajax and Jquery samples and managed to run those jquery and Ajax codes with ASP.net. But i would like to know how to integrate jquery/ajax menu with my asp.net website's category menu. Categary menu is daynamic and it changes nodes according to back office operations. In other words i want to apply jquery/ajax in to several dynamic features on my website. Ex: Dynamic menu and Search reasult.

I am trying to give access to a button for only authorized users. These users are all apart of the domain's administrative users. The button should only appear to these users. Other users will not be able to see or access the button. how I could make my web application query for authorized users for certain features in the web app?
I am working on an Ecommerce website. I have created a database using Server Explorer named 'MyTestStore' and created Tables and Stored procedures inside it.
Than I used the program called aspnet_regsql.exe (which is in:
C:windowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727) to create the membership and roles tables. And this tool created all the membership tables in the MyTestStore database. All is fine till this point.
Enabling Roles:
Now I need to enable roles, insert admin and users into this membership tables in my database. so I opened up ASP.Net Configuration Tool but when I enable and create roles it automatically creates a database called ASPNETDB under App_Data folder whereas, I want to have the roles enabled in the database MyTestStore. But it keeps creating the database ASPNETDB. How do Imap the ASP.Net configuration Tool to create and add users into my database called MyTestStore instead of that default ASPNETDB.
Is there a good way to change the aspnet_Users, aspnet_Membership, aspnet_Applications and other table names which are generated by the ASPNET SQL Server registration tool -
[URL]
and change the reference to them in web.config or machine.config without breaking the default login, profiles and roles functionality that is provided by those tables?
I'm going to have to write a big system in January with ASP.NET MVC3 / C#, and need to know how to write a system that will WORK. I do have a bit of experience with ASP.NET MVC and C# but would not call myself an expert. It needs to be extensible so that I can extend it later with new features. How would one go about this? Is there books that explains this topic in detail or should I use trial and error? In short I need to know good design practice in my code thats extend-able for the future.
I am making application in asp.net and I wanted to implement security features in my application I want help from you experts with good logic on implementing security Field Level, Button Level and different DIV section level security. Where I wanted like read only, addition, edit and delete and also I can make Groups and then assign user in that so that group security I can give. Customize security for some users.I am ready to use some DLL or Active X which give me above.
Before I was using database for security logic where in I was putting some codes in comma format and was looking that for specific control on form load but it have disadvantage that when some user have access to database that can alter make problem.
I have a project ointo which I have copied a folder form another website - that folder consists of aspx and associated aspx.vb files and folders cotaining js, css and ashx stuff. The folder is in the same place relative to root in both the original and target projects/sites. I have added the copied items to the destination project using VS "show all files"|right click add_to_project_method.
Things seem to have worked - e.g intellisense seems to recognise the controls in an aspx file when working on the matching aspx.vb file. However, whne you build the project (even though inteliisense is recognising them) the comiler moans that all of teh controls on the copied pages are undefined.
So intellisense says they are there but the compiler says they are not....
I have a c# v3.5 framework site that I am doing some maintenance on. I wish to use Automatic Properties but whenever I try to add one, the compiler fails [as below]. I have added the System.Core.dll (and it is in the web.config ok) but still no joy.
Error 6 'XXX.Archive.TypeOfArchive.get' must declare a body because it is not marked abstract or extern
We are using BlogEngine.net for our company blog and we'd like to start using feedburner. Since we already have an considerable amount of subscribers to our feed, we want to maintain the same url. The url of our feed would be: ~/blog/syndication.axd. What I'd like to do, is to maintain the URL, but redirect requests to this url to the feedburner URL. So, I started to use the urlMappings section in the web.config for that:
I'm working on an existing site based on nopCommerce 1.6 CMS (.Net 3.5) I'm using VS2010 and C#.I can create new pages and new .cs code to go with it but when I'm trying to chage existng code on .aspx pages inside the nopCommerce classes I can't build/re-build the project. the compiler just can't find the chages to the .cs code for example - when I add a simple button to the .aspx and an OnClick event to the .cs and trying to build the project it just can't find the OnClick event code on the codeBehind page and the build fails.I understand the project is pre-compiled (there are alot of .dll files in the bin directory)
even if I'll delete the entire .cs file and build the build will succeed - it is as if the build doesn't work at all... doesn't the build/re-build suppose to re-create the .dll files? I've tried changing the target .Net framework for the compiler - doesn't seem to be the problem here.Another thing - every .aspx page comes with both .cs file and .designer.cs file. the .designer.cs file look something like this: [Code]....
I want to add WCF to existing asp.net application and host both of them in the same virtual directory is it possible ?? Also when i click new item to add app.config file from visual studio its not showing.
This seems like a very basic question but I couldn't find any help on web. If you could provide some link or steps to do this.I have created few basic Silverlight applications which are working fine standalone. I also have a basic ASP.NET application with a solution with around 10 Class Library Projects and 1 website. I want to create a small popup which will have some funtionality using Silverlight. How should I go about creating this application and how to integrate it with my existing application for it to show as a link. I would not want that link to open another application/site.
I was trying to upload the database of my ASP.NET website. On the local machine, if I copy the database from another machine, I have to attach it through SQL Server Management Studio and then use it in the connection string like
[Code]....
My database is approx. 10 MB in size for now. If I upload it via ftp to App_Data folder, how would I have to attach this database? In Plesk, I have the option to create the database and its user (as shown in the screenshots):1) Web Applications and services-Plesk2) Add New Databaseand add new database user3) Webadmin>ASP.ET Enterprise ManagerBut this is for the new database I created. My problem is to upload an existing one. There's also a section in Plesk for ASP.NET settings (as shown below)
This has the option to change the connection string etc.I also asked my hosting provider about the method to be followed for attaching the database that I would upload. This was the reply in quote." mdf ldf files perhaps will be working at your local computer but this way database of mssql will not work on web server as on web server you will be required to create and restore your database backup file using plesk control panel.
Sample connection string for asp.net mssql `Standard Security`: "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=Your_Server_Name;Initial Catalog=Your_Database_Name;UserId=Your_Username;Password=Your_Password;"
Server name to be used in coding: localhost Catalog/ database name , database user and database password you will be required to create your own using plesk control panelI would be really be appreciative for the steps I have to take to upload my existing database. How do I have attach it? What connection string I have to use?
We have a web application written in ASP.NET for .NET 3.5, using standard web forms.
Going forward we want to start building new features, and over time migrate existing features, in ASP.NET MVC.
Is such a thing doable? Can we add the necessary files to an ASP.NET web application and thus "upgrade" it to be compatible enough with MVC so that we can start adding routes, controllers, views, etc.?
The old site is using a frameset containing a top header, a left menu, and a main content. What I envisioned was to create a new masterpage for all the existing pages, integrating all of those things into each page instead, and then start adding new pages using views instead.
I understand that unless we upgrade to .NET 4 we cannot use MVC 3, so the way I see it we have the following options:
Build a new website, somehow auto logon the new site with the same credentials when logging in on the main site, and link between the sites. I see tons of problems with this solution. Integrate ASP.NET MVC 2 into the existing software, adding the necessary files, and starting to add new content in MVC style, only fixing critical bugs in the old files, and over time migrate them over to MVC. Upgrade to .NET 4 and integrate ASP.NET MVC 3, pretty much the rest the same as option 2. Wait until we can schedule a full rewrite, likely to not happen in any foreseeable future. Don't do it, keep web forms.
Note that a full rewrite is out of scope at the moment, so some transitional period is the only option we can do right now.
Option 2 and 3 are the ones we want, the rest are just for completeness.
