C# - Changing Core Table Names?

Jul 20, 2010

Is there a good way to change the aspnet_Users, aspnet_Membership, aspnet_Applications and other table names which are generated by the ASPNET SQL Server registration tool -

[URL]

and change the reference to them in web.config or machine.config without breaking the default login, profiles and roles functionality that is provided by those tables?

DataSource Controls :: Take Names From The Table And Do Another Select Based On That List Of Names?

Jun 1, 2010

I have been working with this database for some time. Here is the situation...

I inherited a MS SQL database that has hundreds of tables with similar data. For instance:

FordTampa_customer is a table,

ChevyAtlanta_customer is a table, etc....

All of the columns are the same...just different tables with their own ID field. All I have done...Inside of another database id is created a table called 'Customer' and added an 'Dealer ID' column along with the rest of the other columns in the other tables...

So the combination of the 'Dealer ID' and the 'ID' field are unique.....I know...its not the best way to do things...but I cannot change the old data structure because I cannot have access to it. I am give back-ups on a weekly basis, so this is all I have to work with.

All right, on to the real point of my post...

Currently, I have an application that I use to select all of the data from the 'Ford_customers','Chevy_customers',etc... and inserts them into my new main 'Customer' table. I do this by selecting the table names, bind it to an arraylist, loop through the list and execute an insert statement.

I do this in VB.NET, but I would prefer to do it in a Stored procedure of some kind....I just am not sure how to accomplish it. I use this syntax to get my list of tables:

[Code]....

I am not sure how to take those names from the table and do another select based on that list of names.

C# - Get Column Names From Table Returned From Stored Procedure?

Feb 10, 2011

I have a stored procedure which returns a table. The stored proc is called via a linq datacontext.

It works fine and I get the table back however I really want to also get the title relating to each particular cell returned.

The stored procedure call is like:

var table = DataContext.GetTable().ToList();

So I get a List<GetTable>. The data is fine I just want the column names as well.

C# - How To Write A Good Core Architecture For A Project In MVC

Nov 24, 2010

I'm going to have to write a big system in January with ASP.NET MVC3 / C#, and need to know how to write a system that will WORK. I do have a bit of experience with ASP.NET MVC and C# but would not call myself an expert. It needs to be extensible so that I can extend it later with new features. How would one go about this? Is there books that explains this topic in detail or should I use trial and error? In short I need to know good design practice in my code thats extend-able for the future.

Changing User Name In A Table?

Mar 8, 2010

I am using profiles to store extra information about users. The thing that I want is that I am changing user name. But on the other side I have photo album gallery where I have stored the User name (Creator of album). These two tables (aspnet_Profiles and PhotoAlbum) are in different databases.

I have tried the following code while changing the user name

Private con As New SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("Photo").ConnectionString)
Dim updateSql As String = "UPDATE PhotoAlbum SET UserName = @UserName WHERE UserName = " & userName.Text
con.Open()
Dim myCommand As New SqlCommand(updateSql, con)
myCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@UserName", newUsername)
myCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
con.Close()

Here newUserName is the new user name field and UserName is the previous name stored in PhotoAlbum table.

But it does not seems to work.On debugging it reports Invalid Column Name "userName"

Web Forms :: How To Store Data In Database / Without Changing Table Structure

May 28, 2010

In my form there are about 6 parameters and two of them have multiple values, upto 6. I'm imposed by the restrictions that I can't change the table structure. The table have 8 fields one for ID as primary key, one for foreign key and other to store data. The two fields which have multiple values are color and size. A size may have different colors and vice versa.

The programmer which have developed the site earlier used a stored procedure to store the data in database. And he implemented the above scenario one by one for each color/size. Now I have to put all in one.

How can I do this. As I can't change the table structure at current moment as this will disturb the whole E-commerce site.

Web Forms :: How To Import Exsisting SQL Server Table To Access Table(new Table)

Dec 10, 2010

my main intention is that, the exsisting table of sql server database(.dbo) with 1000's of records, that should be import to a new access database table(.mdb).for example if we want to had a new table in db2, of exsisting table in db1 with some conditions by using "select * into New_Tabel from (select * from Exsisting_Table where <Condition>) as objectName". Here the new table is created and records inserted in one execution in db2. The same work should be done for access(sqlserver db --> Access db).Here the new access database table with given name (as string_sysdate) must be created dynamically by clicking a button (multiples time creating new table).Is there any query or c# code for sql server database to access database.

How To Get All User Names From Aspnet_users

Feb 3, 2011

I am using the System.Web.ApplicationServices.AuthenticationService for Form Based Authentication.

The authenication is done by .LoginAsync based on the user roles got by .GetRolesForCurrentUserAsync.

How to query the database to get a list of all users in the system? I need the list to populate a combobox so the users can pick a contact within the system to connect to instead of simply typing the names and hoping for no typos.
