Configuration :: Error: The Metabase Path 'Default Web Site/MyWebsite_deploy' Is Not Supported
May 21, 2010
My company has a server running Windows 2003, IIS 6.0, Web Deployment tool 1.1. I also have a development machine running Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I can't get the Publish command to work (gives me "can't contact MSDEPLOYAGENTSERVICE" even though I know it's running), so a couple days ago I built a publish package, copied it over, and ran it, which worked.oday I thought WebDeploy was having problems (turned out the problem was between the keyboard and the chair) so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it from the WPI. Now when I try to run the package I get
Error: The metabase path 'Default Web Site/MyWebsite_deploy' is not supported.
Paths must be of the format '/lm/w3svc/<siteid>/ROOT/...'.
Error: The metabase key '/Default Web Site/ROOT/MyWebsite_deploy' could not be found.
Error: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
Error count: 1.
I have the virtual directory allready installed under Default Web Site.
I'm trying to run the performance wizard on an ASP.Net website. However, whenever I try to start it I get the following error.
"The website contains unexpected information or you do not have permission to access the metabase. You must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer to access the IIS matabase. Therefore, you cannot create or open a local IIS website. If you have Read, Write, and Modify Permissions for the folder where the files are located, you can create a file system website that points to the folder in order to proceed"
I am an Administrator on my machine. Tried googling but came up with nothing. Anyone run it before and know how to deal with it?
I get "System.NotSupportedException: The given path's format is not supported. at System.Security.Util.StringExpressionSet" when trying to download an item from an ftp(which have access to).The upload seems to work fine and is done similarly I'll post both functions below:
private void Download(string filePath, string fileName) { FtpWebRequest reqFTP; try { //filePath = <<The full path where the file is to be created. the>>, //fileName = <<Name of the file to be createdNeed not name on FTP server. name name()>> Label1.Text = filePath + "/" + fileName;.......
I am trying to use aspnet_compiler via the command line to build and publish a web application that is running on the IIS7 Default Web Site. I am struggling with finding the correct syntax of the -m argument for specifying the IIS metabase path.
All the documentation refers to IIS6 metabase paths, which are of the format "LM/W3SVC/1/Root". I came across this information, which indicates the IIS7 metabase path should look like "MACHINE/WEBROOT/APPHOST/Default Web Site."
The actual command then looks like this:
aspnet_compiler -nologo -m "MACHINE/WEBROOT/APPHOST/Default Web Site/" \productionwebserverinetpubwebsitefolder
This, however, results in the following error: error 1002: 'MACHINE/WEBROOT/APPHOST/Default Web Site/' is not a well formed IIS metabase path.
My default website is called "Default Web Site". I have also explored using the syntax of specifying the virtual path and physical path instead of the metabase path, for example:
aspnet_compiler -nologo -v / -p ".."
(this command file exists in a sub-folder of the website project folder)
This results in the following error: error ASPCONFIG: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.
I am trying to profile the number of "Anonymous Requests" for an ASP.NET web application using perfmon. When I select this key, I have to pick a process of the form _LM_W3SVC_#_ROOT. How do I map the IIS metabase path back to the web application?
I have been using the aspnet_regiis to encrypt my web configs in .net 2.0. I have recently moved my application to .net 4 and the encryption runs without any issues but when I try to view the site, I get a 500.19 error "Configuration section encryption is not supported".
I have verified that my web config contains "<validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false" />"
I just recently upgraded a site from 3.5 to 4.0. After editing the web.config, creating a new app Pool in IIS, configuring the site to use 4.0 and the new app Pool, I can no longer browse to any default.aspx page without explicitly typing 'default.aspx'. This site was originally written for .NET 2.0, upgraded to 3.5, and finally updated to 4.0 a few days ago.If I try to browse to http://[mysite]/ I see the following error: Server Error in '/[mysite]' Application. The resource cannot be found. Description:TTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.Requested URL: /Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:4.0.30319; ASP.NET Version:4.0.30319.1However if I browse to http://mysite/default.aspx, everything works fine.
If I undo all the changes made to the web.config, and revert the site back to the app Pool used for 2.0/3.5 the site loads and runs fine. Restarting IIS will solve the problem for an hour to a day, but the issue will always come back. Other sites running on our sever which were not originally made in 2.0, but 3.5, have upgraded to 4.0 without this issue.
My hoting provider has provided me dsn connection to database through dotnetpanel for my asp.net mvc site. In my dev i was using sqlconnection. Now I am trying to modify my web.config file. In my web.config file i am getting the error
i deployed all the pagesof mysite, but there is problem in the default page, specifically in the album images in the default page and the Error in this line
I am creating an Asp.net web site which will support dynamic data. When I am creating a dynamic web site from Scratch (from template in VS) all is working fine. But when I am trying to add dynamic entity (.edmx) file and running the application I am getting following error
"The method 'Skip' is only supported for sorted input in LINQ to Entities. The method 'OrderBy' must be called before the method 'Skip'. "
I am trying to deploy a simple page that just has 3 textboxes and a button that calculates 2 numbers.I copied the site to my server and when I try to go to the site throught IE I get the error below. How do I reslove this runtime error?
Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
[Code]....
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
I have a site with 2 web servers and NLB (Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7). I'm trying to move the site to NAS storage accessed via a UNC path.
I have copied the site files to the NAS and set all permissions on the NAS. The only change I'm making in IIS is to the sites path. I can change the path back to local storage on the web server and there is no error. I switch the path to the UNC path and I get the error.
When set to the UNC path, within IIS Manager on each web server I can successfully browse to HTML files, but I get a 404 browsing to ASPX files. I've narrowed the error down to something going on when the page directive is in the aspx file. That is, when the aspx file has only html, the page will load fine. When I add the page directive to the aspx file I get the 404:
I don't see anything in the code behind that could possible cause 404, and the site files match exactly between those on the web server and those on the NAS.
my project contains two page....default.aspx and default1.aspx
default.aspx contanins asp.net default login control.....when the user login then t will be redirected to. default1.aspx
in my local machine it works fine......
my web host control panel contains two dir.......webroot and database....
i uploaded the aspx files to webroot dir and ASPNET.MDF file to database dir and attached
but when i executing it shows the following error...
Server Error in '/tprsan' Application.
Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'. in my local machine ASPNET.MDF in App_Data dir....
I have build an web application in Visual studio 2005. Its working fine in the loal. But When I upload the same web application in the remote server, It produces the error,Parser Error Message: Could not load type '_Default'. I have tried the rebuild solution, rebuild website, and rebuild project. But the error remains same.If any one came accross similer error and resolved the issue, Please help me to solve this issue.
i'm doing a website for a school and after uploading the site i get this error when typing in the web address: "Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. the problem i have is the hosting company are saying it's not them and their IIS server is supporting .net 2.0 and it must be my code. i have even tried creating a brand new site and uploading that and I still get the same error. Because it's a school website i have to use the local government's hosting company so can't go anywhere else to host it. my question is is there any way i can create a website in .net 1.1 in vs? that way i can try to upload that site and see if it's displayed; at least if it does I can go back to the hosting company and tell them it's their server.
I have built a web site using WIndows 7 64bit, C#, VS2010, Access 2010 DB. I am ready to continue testing... ASP.NET testing has gone well with no errors but now I am publishing a web.site to the localhost IIS 7 and I am having trouble publishing it. I am getting a permissions error. Do not know what is gong on when I am the only user, no network, just me myself and I.VS2010 tells me that I need to close VS and re-open as the Administrator to publish to the local machine... ? How do I do that when there is only 1 user (me) on this machine.
I want to deploy a website in a computer where no webmatrix is installed. What are the requirement to run the website without webmatrix? And how do I configure IIS to run in startup with the site path?
I have created an ASP.Net website and tested it using the default server. I used the integrated membership provider for the users login and everything worked fine.
Now I moved to IIS 7 and nothing works anymore. I disabled the read-only feature but every time I try to either register a new user or add an item to the chart I get this error
Cannot open user default database. Login failed.
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'.
I have "published" my web application to our server which is running Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7. The app has a web.config file in it's root directory but, since I used the ASP.NET Configuration tool to set access permissions to subdirectories in my site, there are also web.config files in those subdirectories. They were created by the ASP.NET Configuration tool, and their contents are simple:
[Code]....
Now, when I try to view my app/site, I recieve the following error: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. In the Source Error: section, the following line of my ROOT web.config file (not on of the little ones located in the subdirectories) is highlighted in red. "<authentication mode="Forms">"
Everything I have been able to find regarding this error says that one cause might be that web.config files are located in the subdirectories of my application but, the error is pointing to the web.config file in my root directory. IIS7 functions differently from previos versions, regarding web application creation. But, I think I have managed to get that set up correctly. (there is an application listed with the name of my site, and it has been assigned to the app pool that I created so, I think that is all correct). So, I think my web site IS set up as an application.
After publishing the web application on the web host there si following error. It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.
I have uploaded site on web server but I am having the following error. "Could not load file or assembly 'MySql.Data, Version=6.1.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'MySql.Data, Version=6.1.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I was used to creating a web app anytime and I would get a default page for starters and be happy. But today I find that when I pick either the ASP.NET Web Site or ASP.NET Web Application templates I get site.master and a bunch of site admin files that I don't want. Alternately when I select the empty versions of those templates, I get almost nothing at all. An almost empty web.config page and no Default.aspx page. There is nothing magical about having a default.aspx page in place, but it is an indicator of a change when I can only get a virtually completely empty website or a website with a bunch of bells and whistles I don't want.
Also, for some reason, when I create a new app or website as just noted, in the Solution Explorer I get aspx.designer.cs files showing as well as web.config files for both debug and release. Somehow some settings and templates must have changed, or am I missing something here? How can I get my settings/templates to go back to the way they were?
