I noticed a layout issue on the web app I'm working on, and in trying to correct it via the stylesheet I realized that the development server is not recognizing any changes I make to the .css file. As confirmation, I saved a blank stylesheet (which should have removed all styling), cleared my browser cache and rebooted my development machine and the original styling remained. It seems some version of the stylesheet is "stuck." The stylesheet is referenced in my master page, and the path specified is correct.
This is my first time coding with ASP.NET!I've created a simple webpage and I need to know how to count the number of downloads of a file from my webpage. The download will be started through a button. And the other question is:Where should I store this information?
want to download the individual files from weburl. There are images listed on the website along with the check box for each image. User can select one or more images by checking the checkbox. When user click on Download button it should start downloading the files sequentially one after the other. File size is between 20mb to 200mb each.
i have a few calls however when i type in the URI into the address bar in internet explorer it prompts me to save the file. However google chrome displays it automatically in the browser page. Does anyone know why this would occur, here is an example of one of my calls;
I have been struggling to get file downloads working for some time now. Files that are a few Mb or less don't seem to cause a problem but larger files stop after a minute or so. I have tried two methods so far and neither seems to work any better than the other.
First Method:

Second Method:

I am well aware that the default timeout for a script is 90 seconds, so in the page load event I alter this to 10000 seconds for both the above examples.
[Code]....
[Code]....
This makes absolutely no difference - and besides this the download does not necessarily stop after 90 seconds - it is usually somewhere around 90 seconds but I have witnessed it stopping after 120 seconds. I don't have anything set up in my web.config file for this as I don't want to set large timeout values for the rest of my site. Does anyone have what I need to do to get my files to download and not stop after a minute or two?
got this error trying to view my WebSite.A name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource 'http://localhost/lala/'. Line 1, Position 2
<%@ Page Title="Home Page" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site.master" AutoEventWireup="true" -^ The virtual directory I'm creating with all default setting. Later tryed to give full access, but it did nothing.Used an emty Web application and Web Site projects and got the same error. I'm using MSVS 2010 RC with ASP.NET 4.0.
I have the above error while deploying the svc file via IIS 7 but when I deployed it via VS 2008 everything works ok.note I have checked the web site configuration to map to asp.net 2.0 and added the handler mapping for .svc file in IIS 7 but no luck.
from one computer running Visual Studio 2008 to another computer running Visual Studio 2008.
I can rebuild/build the solution just fine on the new computer, but, if I select 'start debugging', it goes through the compile/build process and then ultimately pops up a window that says:
"A project with an Output Type of Class Library cannot be started directly.
In order to debug this project, add an executable to this solution which references the library project. Set the executable project as the startup project."
NOTE: the 'start debugging' runs fine on the older computer..
i know that in window application how to give the path for executable file that started the application (if (!System.IO.File.Exists(Application.StartupPath + "gsdll32.dll")))
but i dont know how to give that path in web application using c#
I have just been told to get looking into using SQL server reporting. Does anyone have any good links they would recommend? can this be used for reporting on ASP.NET sites?
I upgrade my application from .NET 2.0 to .NET 4.0. Everything went smooth, with very few errors. Now the code is compiling fine, but run time environment is loading the configuration parameters from app.config instead of web.config; Here is my setup:Objects project: has app.configUI project: has web.config, When I run this site, it is fetching the configuration parameters from app.config. Any idea if I need to make any changes to read it from web.config instead of app.config? It used to work fine in my previous environment.
I have an XML file that generated by a Codebehind (.cs) of an .aspx page. And everytime it must be generated automatically and must be saved on Server. It works on my local machine, but how can I do it on Server (host)?n local I managed it like:xmlDoc.Save(Server.MapPath("~")+filename);
I am using the fileupload control to upload an excel file to a server, but I am getting a "Access to the path '\<server>importResponses.xls' is denied" when I try to use fileUploader.SaveAs(filepath). The filepath I use is \<server>importResponses.xls, so I am actually saving it to a share on a different server. My environment consists of a web server and a database server. I am trying to upload the excel file to a share on the database server. A stored procedure then takes that excel file and imports the data from it into a table. So the problem isn't with being unable to save a file to a share on the web server, but it's a problem with being unable to save a file to a share on the database server. It used to work, but now it doesn't and I have no idea why. What process(es) on the database server do I need grant write access for in order for the fileupload control to successfully save the excel file?Right now, I only have the Network Service account with read/write access to the share on the database server. I tried adding other accounts, such as the ASPNET and IUSR_<server name> accounts, but nothing seems to work. The web application that does the actual uploading is configured like this:
Could that have anything to do with it?If you're asking why I'm trying to save an excel file on the database server instead of on the web server, this was the only way I got this to work. If anyone has a better suggestion on how to programatically import excel data into a SQL table, I am all ears.
I am running an exe file located at Server named Wget (Command line Web Crawler) using aps.net application.
When I run it from Visual Studio Development environment it run properly and gives required results.
But when I run it from the IIS Server its process run properly but terminated immediately and doesn't give required results and there is no any kind of exception.
My application in published in web server A. From my application I am uploading file to a folder that is in server B. I have windows authentication in web.config file and all the servers are in same network.
I am getting Access Denied error message when I try to upload a file from my application.
I have list of class files, when i try to run the class files, it showing error as "a project with output type of class library cannot be started directly"

I am trying to run an aspx file on my server windows 2003 with IIS 6.0. I get the following error. Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
[Code]....
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
I am using ItextSharp and I am getting a new font for it by doing this
[Code]....
That file is in that directory on both my dev machine and the server. When i run this on my dev machine it works fine, when published to my server I get an error saying FREE3OF9.TTF is not found as a file or a resource. I have double and triple checked that the file is in fact there on my server. My application has full trust on IIS. and IIS user has full access to this folder and this file. And still I get this error. Very frustrating. This code is Not inside the Web Application but inside a DLL class library that the web application is referencing. Do I need to add any more special permissions or something?
I have hosted a site on server. Problem is, content of a particular .aspx file (index.aspx/content.aspx) is periodically replaced by clinet side HTML code(the source we see in browser by right click>view source). What can be reason behind this?
