I have finished developing an executable desktop application to generate a fractal image based on the passed-in arguments. The output type is JPEG.Now I am developing a site under ASP.NET MVC 3. I want to use the executable from within my site.
Is it possible to use it as is without converting it to a class library and recompiling?
I have a simple windows form app that I need to get the file path for. I am placing a config file in the same directory and I need to be able to get the path to that file.
I have used Application.CommonAppDataPath but that returns the path with 1.0.0.0 at the end.
and Applicaiton.StartupPath but that returns the path with indebug at the end
Is there anyway to get the path to just the main file directory without anything appended to the end?
What are the alternatives to System.Diagnostics API for running external EXE or BAT files under IIS hosted web application?
I would like to run external EXE program from my ASP.NET-MVC web application. I don't need to wait till the program exits. I just want to start the program. The execution can take some time or it may crash, so I would like to run it separatelly from IIS in such a way that the web application only triggers its execution.
i am working on a project where i have to give call to an .exe file to access the scanner on client side. i am using System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(Server.MapPath("~/bin/Scan.exe").ToString()"); to call exe file in my bin folder on to the server, but it is not getting called.
I have a VS 2008 web application that I need to capture the full file path (directories and file name) from the selected file. So user selects a file and then clicks on one of the buttons which transfers control to my code for processing. So how do I get the file path? I can get the file name, but not the path.
I'm doing a project in component management system. I need to block executable files from getting uploaded. Blocking should not be based on the extensions. For example, i've a file named abc.exe i'm going to change the file extension to abc.jpg in this case that abc file should not get updated. Similar to that in gmail file attachment.

I have written the below code which will open the .pdf file from the silverligt path.as below:
Code: Uri uri = new Uri(HtmlPage.Document.DocumentUri, "/ClientBin/10c.pdf"); string path = uri.AbsoluteUri.ToString(); HtmlPage.Window.Eval("window.open('" + path + "')"); //HtmlPage.Window.Eval("document.location.href='" + path + "';");

Thus far working with asp.net webforms was very easy .... But never implemented URL Routing in webforms... I know asp.net MVC Handles URL Routing pretty well... How to get started with URL Routing in an asp.net webform application? For EX: [URL] i want it to be like [URL] Any good article to start with URL Routing asp.net 3.5
The default ASP.NET web server that launches from within Visual Studio (Casini) is a little buggy on my development machine, so I like to publish to a local IIS instance on my dev machine and look at the web application there. However, I'm not automatically in "Debug Mode" when I launch the application this way.
I know that VS 2010 has an "Attach to Process" debug feature, but I'm not sure exactly how to use it. What do I need to do to be able to debug a local IIS ASP.NET web application from within Visual Studio? Specifically:
What settings do I need to change in the configuration of my web application?
What "Package/Publish Settings" do I need to change?
Is there anything I need to change in IIS?
Is there anything special I need to do in the "Attach to Process" screen?
Background Information: I'm running Visual Studio 2010 on Windows XP SP3 with IIS 5.1 and .NET 4.0.
Additional Information:
I should add that I've tried attaching to aspnet_wp.exe, but when I go to a page that I know has a breakpoint in it, I get the following message when I hover over the "open circle" breakpoint:
The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document.
I have a custom ASP.NET application that I utilize for several clients that I host. Each client has a separate domain and the application is normally a child application under the root domain [URL]. The application files are the same (aspx, ascx, style sheets, images, etc.). The only thing different is the web.config file for each client. As development of the application continues to evolve, I have to update the application for each directory and this obviously becoming tedious. I am trying to come up with a method keep the application up to date. My first though is placing the application into a single physical path and creating multiple applications pointing to that path (the problem with this method is I can't have different web.config files). I am curious as to what solution others are using in this scenario...
I have list of class files, when i try to run the class files, it showing error as "a project with output type of class library cannot be started directly"
How to run the class file? How to create a dll file.
I am using HTML file control and HTML image control in .aspx page (for uploading image and showing on web page). It is working fine. But I am unable to get that uploaded image file path and file name in .aspx.cs page. And also tell me how to save selected image in MS ACCESS database.
