We are in the process of building a huge site. We are contemplating on whether to do the processing of HTML at server side (ASP .Net) or at the client side. For example we have HTML files which acts like templates for the generation of tabs. Is it better for the server side to get hold of content section (div) of HTML load the appropriate values and send the updated HTML to the browser or is it better that a chunk of data is passed onto client and make Javascript do the work?

I'm working with an external team with our website and they recently added one of my scripts to the .NET MasterPage of the site... well it did finally get my script running but now... it loads Banners on 'every' page on the site.
How can I write an 'if' statement that basically says... if this is the home page... run this script... if not don't...?

I will have a widget on a remote page. In the widget I want javascript or jquery to get all the article content from the webpage and send it back to my website. I only need just the article content and not all the other information on the webpage. I would like the script to send the remote webpage url, page content, title text, and h1 text. I would not like to receive any html tags. Is this possible to do?
The script I am making is like google adsense.
Also, Ill be using c# as my backend server
will something like this work?

I have a page with three HTML labels and their corresponding ASP.NET gridviews contained within divs. Now while learning jQuery, I am trying to achieve two things:1. Change the css class of the lables upon mouse hover/out.2. Slide up/down the grid div upon clicking of the labels.It looks to be working as expected, but I wish to know if I am doing it the right way.My complete jQuery code is:
$(function ColorChange(ID) {
$("#" + ID).toggleClass("gridLabel");
});
$(function ShowHide(GID) {
$('#' + GID).slideToggle('slow');
});
And I am calling these function from onmouseover, onmouseout and onclick events of the label controls passing in the label ID as parameter. As an example:
<label id="lblWebComp" class="gridLabelDefault" onmouseover="ColorChange('lblWebComp')"
onmouseout="ColorChange('lblWebComp')" onclick="ShowHide('gvDivWC')">
Web Components
</label>
Kindly let me know if this is the best way to achieve these effects? Don't I have to right the document ready function in the jQuery code?

I have an ASP.NET application using a master page. I am adding a reference to the JQuery library in the master page however there are some content pages and user controls that reference the JQuery library directly. Will I need to remove each reference from those pages or can I leave them in place even though I am adding a reference into the master page of the application?

Currently i am writing <script src="/javascripts/jquery.hotkeys-0.7.9.js" type="text/javascript"></script> in master page.

Now hears the kicker, I am mostly using jqUery as UpdateInsertData() is a jquery Call and works fine. How do I use ValidateNameUpdateable to call jQuery to return the value from the c# method. . I believe this issue is with my jQuery Call as its just posting and I need to do a $.get or something?
function ValidateNameUpdateable()
{
$(document).ready(function ()
{
$.post("GridViewData.aspx")
});
}

all elements are in an updatepanel. click on a list of <tr> to fire a JavaScript function to add new <option> to the asp dropdownlist. But, when I click on other buttons to callback to the server, I get an error message:
Uncaught
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException:
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException:
Invalid postback or callback argument.
Event validation is enabled using
in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation. I understand the problem. I need to let server side know the change of the dropdownlist before any other postback. Set validation as false won't work in this case, the dropdown will lose the new item anyway. I did some researches, and the possible solutions:
1)Using ViewState? Request Form? could anyone give an example?
2)Add dropdownlist item in server side. But I want to make the whole tr row clickable to fire the event. Could I click on tr and fire eg. its first child linkbutton or a linkbutton in somewhere else.
3)I've tried Jquery.ajax and webmethod , it can fire server event but since all method are static (shared) , it doesn't allow me to edit the downdownlist instance.

I am developing one asp.net application and I have a requirement that I need to fetch html of page: [URL] I can easily do it with asp.net code using httpwebrequest but I have to do it from client side either using javascript or JQuery or any other thing. This is required becaues REQUEST TO GET PAGE [URL] MUST COME FROM CLIENT AND NOT FROM SERVER DUE TO IP ISSUE.

I have a menu control on a master page with mouse hovering effects that is populated dynamically. Now i am playing .flv video on the content page. Everything works fine, but when a mouse is hovered on a menuItem, .flv video is hanging. Is it because of javascript execution when the mouse is hover on a menuItem?

I noticed a layout issue on the web app I'm working on, and in trying to correct it via the stylesheet I realized that the development server is not recognizing any changes I make to the .css file. As confirmation, I saved a blank stylesheet (which should have removed all styling), cleared my browser cache and rebooted my development machine and the original styling remained. It seems some version of the stylesheet is "stuck." The stylesheet is referenced in my master page, and the path specified is correct.

I was able to download files from our server all types with out no problem,
when the download process starts the app asks open , save or cancel.
when i click open or save, i can see the progress bar starting from 0% onwards and used to go smoothly at 100kbps.
Since yesterday, it is hanging at 0% as if freeze, and all of a sudden the file gets open after 2 or 3 minutes.
this seems like something to do with IE i guess.
are there any security or any thing on client machine , which is giving me a feeling like a firewall or something.

I have a dynamic website where each page has a selection criteria and a button. When the user clicks on the button it creates an csv file on the remote server and then emails it to the person who is logged in.
I have seen on a lot of sites where the screen goes a dark grey (still being able to see the webpage underneath) and a animated gif in the middle looking like a circular egg timer. Once the processing is complete it goes back to the webpage.
