I have recently moved my project to VS2005 and I have trouble running all pages that have code behind. I set up a DEV sub domain so I could start with one page and work out what is going on.
I have got the page working locally but it won't work when I upload the page, dll and associated files to the web server (hosted for me).
The error seems simple enough, it's a parser error saying it can't find the code behind file (aspx.vb), but I can't for the life of me work out why, especially when it works locally.

I have deployed my website to a shared hosting provider and since deployment, it shows the error "XML Parser Error:no element found" from time to time. I have checked my error log and I find issues such as "Object reference not set to an instance of the object" but the weird thing is if I visit the SAME page after a while, it loads!
I have checked with my hosting provider and they told me the below is what they can see on their side:
Exception information:
Exception type: HttpException
Exception message: Could not load type 'Test2.GlobalAsax'.
I have checked my global.asax and the interits are all correct. I have tried:
a) Deleting the webapplication dlls and rebuilding - didn't work
b) Deleting the global.asax and adding a new one and then rebuild. - didn't work
c) Changing the class name of global.asax.vb and updating at inherits at global.asax, and rebuild - didn't work
d) Change the Asp.Net version to an older version and change back to original version - didn't work
e) Debugged my application countless times locally (for the same page) but while connecting to the DB on my hosting provider - no issues found
My webhosting provider is saying there is an error in my code, but if there is a bug, shouldn't it always show the same error?
I also noticed that when the XML parser error is shown, if I were to go back to say Google.com and then to my website's main page, and then to the Page with error, the page loads!!
I am seriously running out of ideas what could have caused this issue. I have also conducted a ping test to my website and I am getting some time outs, will that cause my page to not load from time to time?

I bought a website a few years ago, hosted with WebHost4Life,. Since their migration their has been nothing but problems with my site, however, I am stuck because I don't have the knowledge to move it, have tried with no success. Anyway, recently I have been getting parser error messages, Webhost fixed them, and then it starts over again. It takes them weeks to get around to it and since its my livelihood, I can't afford for the site to be down for 5 days then running for one day. I've tried to contact the guy that built the site to no avail, he won't answer my emails.
why these parser errors keep happening. This is a recent thing from the past 2 months, never had this before. What can I do to stop it. it looks like the knowledge here is unreal, I'm in awe everytime I read your answers. BTW, heres my lastest parser error:

I have a master page that divides the main content into two areas. There are two asp:ContentPlaceHolder controls in the body section of the master page with IDs cphMain and cphSideBar respectively.
One of the corresponding content pages has a control in cphMain that needs to refer to a control in cphSideBar. Specifically, a SqlDataSource in cphMain references a TextBox in cphSideBar to use as a parameter in the select command. When the content page loads the following run-time error occurs:
Could not find control 'TextBox1' in ControlParameter 'date_con'.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
[code]....
I kinda know what the problem is... ASP.NET does not like the fact that the SqlDataSource and TextBox are in different asp:Content controls within the content page.
As a workaround, I have another TextBox in cphMain with the SqlDataSource which has Visible=False. Then in the Page_Load() event handler the contents of the TextBox in cphSideBar is copied into the contents of the non-visible TextBox in cphMain.

I get the error message The system cannot find the path specified for a .html file that doesn't exist on the server.
1. Is it possible to set up an error page for .html pages that doens't exist without having access to IIS.
2. If you need to do it in IIS, can you do this for .html files, and then set up custom error pages for .aspx files in the web.config so that these rules co-exist.

I need to add a small training page to an existing website structure. I created a new project and published it to a subdirectory of the website, but when I run it, the .aspx pages throw a parser error because it's looking for the codebehind files in root/bin instead of root/subdirectory/bin. How can I make it look in the right folder?

Im using ASP.NET 2.0 with C# for website development. I have created two master page Base.master and web.master.web.master refer to base.master as its master page. Base.master contains head(specified various CSS links) and body(some general controls and hyperlinks to other websites). Now i create test.aspx with web.master as its master..Now I try to implement ajaxtoolkit:calendarextender which initially gave me error that head tag should have runat="server"..This error got resolved but i lost CSS of my website and also calendarextender doesnt work. calendarextender works fine if I dont refer my master page.
I don't loose my CSS and calendarextender should work as normal.refer text.aspx
