Configuration :: IIS6 Only Serves One .ASPX Page At A Time?
Jun 18, 2010
I have an .ASPX page that runs some C# code-behind for about 60 seconds after the page is requested. After 60 seconds, the page appears as expected in Internet Explorer.During this 60 second time period, IIS will not serve new requests for OTHER .ASPX pages. However, .HTM files continue to be served fine. The CPU is only at 1%.Is it true that IIS only can process one .ASPX request at a time? This can't be true. All IIS settings are default.
Deployed an ASP.NET webforms application to IIS 6.0 64-bit server. Some associated DLLs are only available in 32-bit so I enabled 32-bit applications following these instructions. At first I was not able to view ASPX pages but I had forgotten to Allow the ASP.NET Web Service Extension. Sorted!Recent testing has shown that a 404 is received when requesting ASMX web service files. From the IIS log the status code is:
404 0 2
Anyone have any ideas? I anticipate this being something silly like all 404s.UPDATE 1 Not sure if this is related but the same error code is received when requesting PNG files. No problem serving JPG or GIF from the same folder... what!!!??? It is worth noting that if I change the extension of the image to JPG then it can be requested. UPDATE 2 See answer below.
I set my web.config with a custom error for 404 and 403 response but when I try to navigate my page (not exist page). It displays the default IIS6 404 page instead of my custom page...
I've done a very basic asp.net test page that populates dinamically (with items from 0 to 99) an asp:listbox on the onload event (only once, if not ispostback).
The asp:listbox is static, and there's an asp:button that I use only to produce a postback (it has no onclick server code)
When I execute it under II6 it works perfecty, but under IIS7 I get a strange behaviour: every now and then, when I push the asp:button, the page freezes and it's unable to postback.
I don't get a specific asp.net error as usual, just a blank page as if the website didn't exist!
The message is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
I am having serious issue running a MVC web site from IIS 6 especially with Windows authentication mode. I know its very simple but missing some ting between. Succeeded configuring MVC on IIS 6. Now Trying to enable Windows Authentication mode on MVC Web Site, Steps included in my configuration
- enabled windows authentication mode in web.config - Enabled Integrated Windows Authentication on IIS web site under Directory Security. - Given permissions to a Domain group (eg: asiaDomainGrp) [Read, Write] Do i need to add ASP.NET Machine accountIUSR_<machines name> under this?
During the intial loading, I am trying to query Active Directory to get authenticated user's full name to display on default page, this is not success full due to some issue, later I changed to "HttpContext.User.Identity.Name". Now I could able to access Default page from the web server, but real heck is here. For some reason IIS is using NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON. [Code].... I have separated two servers as Web server/Database server.
I have a fully dynamic application that uses UrlRewriting.Net that works perfectly within the visual studio environment. As you can see from the rules within the web.config file below, UrlRewriting.Net rewrites the destination as "~/index.aspx?URLPath=$1&URLString=$2", basically index.aspx searches the database for the page properties and builds the page based on the parameters passed. There are no physical files for the website, only index.aspx with all pages and its webparts build dynamically on the fly. The application is compiled as ASP.NET 3.5 and runs on a Windows Server 2003 x64 standard edition.
To my knowledge the configuration you see in the web.config below should work in iis6, however does not . Does the installment of UrlRewriting.Net require configuration in iis6 as well?
got this error trying to view my WebSite.A name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource 'http://localhost/lala/'. Line 1, Position 2
<%@ Page Title="Home Page" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site.master" AutoEventWireup="true" -^ The virtual directory I'm creating with all default setting. Later tryed to give full access, but it did nothing.Used an emty Web application and Web Site projects and got the same error. I'm using MSVS 2010 RC with ASP.NET 4.0.
How to Schedule an ASPX Page to run at a particular intervals of time using Schedule Tasks in Control Panel"? If so can any one explain me in detail "How would I achieve that with neat steps".
In my company we use a control that renders the <link rel="stylesheet"> tags dynamically at runtime (equivalent of scriptmanager who renders <script> tags dynamically). this control is very good, cause it select the appropriate css stylesheets depending on some criterias. The problem is that on design time for Visual Studio there is no designated CSS stylecheet since there is no <link rel="stylesheet"> tags on the page.
If I put <link rel="stylesheet"> tags on the aspx page (to indicate a design time stylesheet) this tag will be rendered to client and it causes conflicts with tags rendered by the control !
This is a really odd situation, so hopefully I can explain it well enough.
I am deploying an ASP.NET 4 webforms application to a Windows Server 2003 SP2 server running IIS6.
Here's the problem -- when the application pool recycles its worker process (w3wp.exe), about 80% of the time, I will get an ReflectionTypeLoadException error trying to access any page in the app that contains an EntityDataSoure every time I try to view it.
However (this is the interesting part) -- the other 20%, it works just fine. I've actually resorted to turning off recycling the worker process entirely for this application pool and just add/remove whitespace from web.config forcing the site to recompile until I get a "good" w3wp.exe.
If this isn't clear, what I'm saying is: the actual worker process doesn't work at all for pages containing an EntityDataSource for about 4/5 times it starts, but still manages to serve all other pages just fine. Once you get a worker process that manages to serve a page with an EntityDataSource, it works every time until that process gets recycled.
My question is, how can I debug this? It works fine on my dev machine, it works fine on the server as long as you get a good process running, but iisreset or a server restart or anything that kills the worker process is almost guaranteed to cause the site to not come back up and throw this ReflectionTypeLoadException.
I've written a singleton class that exposes the web.config properties in a nice get property kind of way.
I want a Load method to parse the data in the config and set the public properties, and I want to throw exceptions (so they are logged in the EventLog) when a configuration key is missing or can't be parsed.
I tried placing the Load() code in Application_Start of the global.asax but then remembered this will only be run once, or until the application restarts.
Where is the best place to put code that you need to run 'everytime' your site is started/run by the user? I basically want the website to stop functioning if certain config properties cannot be loaded.
i am using Intelligencia.UrlRewriter on my website and it works fine on my development machine, i tryed to deploy on IIS6 and i get this error:
The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please try the following: Make sure that the Web site address displayed in the address bar of your browser is spelled and formatted correctly. If you reached this page by clicking a link, contact the Web site administrator to alert them that the link is incorrectly formatted. Click the Back button to try another link. HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.
Internet Information Services (IIS) Technical Information (for support personnel)
Go to Microsoft Product Support Services and perform a title search for the words HTTP and 404. Open IIS Help, which is accessible in IIS Manager (inetmgr), and search for topics titled Web Site Setup, Common Administrative Tasks, and About Custom Error Messages. this is the url that throws the error. [URL] this is the working url that is being rewriten to the above one. [URL]
Our website has all of the publicly accessible pages at the root and private pages (login required) in a folder below the root (call it "private").Private pages are accessed as
www.oursite.com/private/somepage.aspx.I want to run the pages in the private folder in a separate application pool without changing the URL for private users.I tried making the private folder a virtual directory but then the pages in the private folder did not render(I think because it did not find a web.config in the private folder). Is the answer to simply put a copy of the web.config that resides at the root in the private folder or is that problematic?
I am using technologies Visual studio 2005, .net frame work 2.0, ASP.NET, C#.NET, MS-Office 2003, Chart Director Tool and Operating system Windows Xp.Iam able to create a power point slide using my C#.net code. But I am not getting how to put Chart image in that slide. Using the below code I am generating chart in my .aspx page.
I have a webform that has a master page. In the web form I have a dropDownList it has PostBack=True, cause every time I changed the option I concat paratemer (item choosen) at hyperlink's navigate url property, for example I have 2 items:
id text 1 Option1 2 Option2
If the users select Option1 then concat at the url "?option=1" The problem is, that when I choose one option and then click at hyperlink everything goes right, but at the second time I choose an option the browser try to download de page itself aspx. update: even if I click at other hyperlink or link button after choose an option and click the hyperlink, the same thing happens (the browser ask me for download the page aspx)
I have no idea how to avoid this behavior at browser and it happens just at server with the IIS not while I'm testing at VS2008, update: ah I almost forget, if I click "cancel" at the prompt of firefox, then everything goes right again, until the next time I choose other option and click at the hyperlink, then everything goes wrong again...
I want to know that how can i hide aspx page in URL just from main page. Like when i go to my site http://mysite.com it shows me an aspx page at the end. like
I am developing a .NET 3.5 web application. We are using some of the Microsoft Reporting tools, which are a pain but a digress, and when I deploy, I get errors when trying to load the site.
This is the error:
[Code]....
However, my web config reads:
[Code]....
I specify 9.0.0.0 in everything. The only concern I have is that the build server uses .NET 4.0 but I have specified to build with 3.5 and on my deployed server I have the 9.0.0.0 dll files for the report viewer. why the server is looking for 10 when everything says 9?
I want my site visitors to be able to navigate to a page without having to type the .aspx extension. For example, if I have a page file named info.aspx I want site visitors to be able to go to that page with a URL like this: www.mysite.com/info without the aspx extension. Is there a way to do this in the web.config file?
i am trying to ste my Home Page other than Defualt.aspx in IIS but im getting a message saying This is a marker file generated by the precompilation tool, and should not be deleted! i do my precompilation of web project using aspnet_compiler -nologo -f -v i do not want to use Default.aspx and route it to the Home Pgae. it works in Visual STudio but when i deploy it to IIS it gives me this message.
I have a web application. In my application,I have a normal sub directory named "sub" . In sub, I have a a webform 'mywebform' and its .cs and designer file. Now , when I deploy by web application by copying all aspx file and bin folder through ftp, all my aspx pages work fine, but mywebform.aspx creates a problem . It throws an error:
I have IIS 7.5 running on windows 7 64 bit machine.
My problem is that in my web application after any page request if the page remains idle for more than 2 mins, it stops responding. For e.g. lets take the following scenario:
1. Initial page request
2. the page stays idle for 2 mins
3. Click a button to save data
4. It takes very long for the aspnet worker process to reach page_load, and firefox shows "connection was reset" message.
I put breakpoint on page_load. It strikes the breakpoint after a long time and also it does not go to the event handler of the button that was clicked.
The web application works perfectly if the page is not kept idle.
I have a site with 2 web servers and NLB (Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7). I'm trying to move the site to NAS storage accessed via a UNC path.
I have copied the site files to the NAS and set all permissions on the NAS. The only change I'm making in IIS is to the sites path. I can change the path back to local storage on the web server and there is no error. I switch the path to the UNC path and I get the error.
When set to the UNC path, within IIS Manager on each web server I can successfully browse to HTML files, but I get a 404 browsing to ASPX files. I've narrowed the error down to something going on when the page directive is in the aspx file. That is, when the aspx file has only html, the page will load fine. When I add the page directive to the aspx file I get the 404:
I don't see anything in the code behind that could possible cause 404, and the site files match exactly between those on the web server and those on the NAS.
when i execute it using local port auto-asign port, the aspx page shows ok on the internet explorer.
when i run the same project from the IIS (Browsing the aspx page from the iis), only the controls text is displays without the controls (colors and menus .. ) - although the source view shows that the tags exists.
