Configuration :: Aspnet_compiler Throwing An Error About JSharp?
Feb 11, 2011
I'm working on running aspnet_compiler as a post-build even on my Visual Studio 2010 MVC2 application. Every time I run it, I get this error:
The CodeDom provider type "Microsoft.VJSharp.VJSharpCodeProvider, VJSharpCodeProvider, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" could not be located.
I have no J# in my solution. The J# 2.0 redistributable package is installed, and I have no .java files of any kind in my solution, although I have a lot of .js files.
I am unable to get the -fixednames switch to create dlls for the cs code behind files. The files in the bin folder are compiled aspx pages, but the code behind files are all compiled into one large websitename.dll file. Here is my command with switches.
I have tested this over and over to make sure I am not missing anything. The test is place a label on myform1.aspx, and in the codebehind populate the label with some text. Compile the website with the above switches and deploy the website.Make a change to the myform1 codebehind and change the label text. Compile and only deploy the myform1.aspx.643c7876.dll to the website. Result: label is still the same. Now deploy the website.dll and pdb and the label changes. how to get -fixednames to create sinle dlls for codebehind?
Is it possible to just update a target directory rather than fully recompile a website everytime?
For example, if i have already have a precompiled website in a target directory and then a project from the source changes, can i run the aspnet_compiler such that it only updates the target directory with the new changes (by updating only that assembly) rather than delete the whole target directory and recompile the whole application? We do not use the -u option, so we're talking about fully precompiled sites.
I am using Visual Studio 2008 Express and I read some where that it doen't support the "publish" menu option.
The article said I need to run "Aspnet_Compiler" from the command line. What do they mean by "command line" ?? I tried using "Aspnet_Compiler -v /MyFirstWebSite" in the "Run Command" and it indicate that it can find it.
How do I use this ?? Or is there an easier way to publish my website design I did in Visual Studio 2008 Express ??
Or if I move my design into Visual Studio 2010 Express, will the publishing be easier?? If so, how do I move the complete project over ?? Is it as easy as to install VS 2010 Express and open my project ?
I am having this strange case, at first time when the page loades, everything goes fine. But as soon as I click on any link which makes any ajax request, after that, I get this error while trying to read the configuration."System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings' threw an exception of type 'System.Web.HttpException"I am using asp.net mvc 1.0
I tried to post data to client HTTPPost URL, as per the client specification I need to post the data using "Post" method and I used the same. But it throws an error "The remote server returned an error: (500)Internal Server Error". in the HTTpWebResponse. My post URL does not have any specific page like http://abc.com/post/post.aspx. the actual URL looks like "http://abc.com/post", Can we post the lead without any specific page like I said in the above URl?
I have page that works ok on localhost, but it throws an error on server. This pages was working ok before until I added additional grid to updatePanel. Is there any limit how many grids you can have in updatePanel. The error message is below.
Message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 500 Line: 4723 Char: 21 Code: 0
I have the following RegularExpressionValidator on one of my pages:
<asp:RegularExpressionValidator ID="RegularExpressionValidator2" runat="server" ControlToValidate="InKindTextBox" ErrorMessage="The value entered for 'Cash' must be in a number format. Examples: 500.00, 500, $500, $50,000 or $500.00" ValidationExpression="(?n:(^$?(?!0,?d)d{1,3}(?=(?<1>,)|(?<1>))(k<1>d{3})*(.dd)?)$)" >
But when it tries to validate it throws the error below from one of my dynamic JS pages. When I run this regex through regex texter it works fine. Am i doing something wrong here?
i have an ascx user control with jQuery in script tags to do some UI work in the .ready jquery function but i'm getting the Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object expected error and i'm not sure why. here's my code:
I'm passing parameters (over 30 in all) from a system.data.dataset into a tableadapter insert method, but I'm getting an "Input string was not in a correct format" exception. The error points to the method that is throwing, which is great, but is there a way I can tell exactly which parameter is throwing the error?(Sorry about the code formatting -- I fought with it for 5 minutes before giving up)

I've got a simple detailsview on a webpage for viewing, adding, and updating inspectors. Since it is a simple details view I'm just used the datasource select, update, delete, and insert commands. When I debug the page it populates the detailsview appropriately and allows me to page through the inspectors but when I try to update a field I'm getting the implicit conversion error in the attached doc. Below is my detail view markup. I was thinking the error is caused by the checkbox type being boolean while the SQL type for "Active" is bit but I've tried to use various conversion methods and can't seem to get them to work.
when a user enters a bad email I am doing a check on this and throwing an exception message as follows, this works fine on the test site but for some reason the same code on the live site gives a "internal server error" (http code 500). The code below:
[Code]....
not certain why this is happening, I assume that it's some server or config difference between the test and live sites. has anyone seen this before? For a quick fix i'm registering javascript alert and showing the same text so it works but I would like to figure out why the code above is not working.
We have created a new cname for our subdomain website. The new website is working properly with cname. We do have .net application inside the webiste which is not working with cname. For eg,1. http://servername/_folder1/app/mypage.aspx (Accessing .net application (App) website without cname)2. http://NewDomian.xxxx/app/mypage.aspx (Accessing .net application (App) website with cname)The first case is working perfectly, but when I access the second url, I got the following error.Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. I have the absolutely most simple setup imaginable. A single table defined in an Entity model in ASP.net v4, the model is bound directly to a GridView with AutoGenerateEditButton enabled. However, each time I hit edit, then save, the page throws the error "Update is disabled for this control" for which I cannot find a solution. What is causing this error? What can do to resolve it?
I am using Server.Transfer("axpx page", True) in my page.aspx.vb code. This line of code is there in the Try block. The exception "error : canot obtain value" is occurred when this line is executed. This is started all of sudden in the production.I have temporarily fixed this by keeping this line after try - catch block. But I'm not sure why is this problem occurred?
jQuery validation is working fine on my machine, when i pushed it to test server it won't it's throwing some errors which is kind of surprising. These are the errors I am getting: $.validator is null or not an object...I've never gotten this error before and it throwing an error when I declared a variable like var isValid.I don't know what to do. I am doing the custom validation methods not in the document.ready(). Does this cause this error? I wonder because all jquery validations are passing and hitting the server side validations.
I am trying to use aspnet_compiler via the command line to build and publish a web application that is running on the IIS7 Default Web Site. I am struggling with finding the correct syntax of the -m argument for specifying the IIS metabase path.
All the documentation refers to IIS6 metabase paths, which are of the format "LM/W3SVC/1/Root". I came across this information, which indicates the IIS7 metabase path should look like "MACHINE/WEBROOT/APPHOST/Default Web Site."
The actual command then looks like this:
aspnet_compiler -nologo -m "MACHINE/WEBROOT/APPHOST/Default Web Site/" \productionwebserverinetpubwebsitefolder
This, however, results in the following error: error 1002: 'MACHINE/WEBROOT/APPHOST/Default Web Site/' is not a well formed IIS metabase path.
My default website is called "Default Web Site". I have also explored using the syntax of specifying the virtual path and physical path instead of the metabase path, for example:
aspnet_compiler -nologo -v / -p ".."
(this command file exists in a sub-folder of the website project folder)
This results in the following error: error ASPCONFIG: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.
