View 2 RepliesRecently I had a weird problem while trying to install SQL Server Reporting Service in my local PC. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium and I wanted to configure SSRS in my PC. During the installation, the setup wizard listed all the services that we want to install and I found that only Reporting Server checkbox option was disabled and I wondered why??? I thought it may be becuase of some installation problem and tried again and its useless... I googled lot of sites for 3 days and finally found that due to some IIS issues, it is not possible to install Reporting Server in Vista Home Premium version. Reporting Server needs some specific IIS features to be installed in the machine.
But unfortunately those features are not available for Home Premium users which in term restricts users not to install reporting server in our PCs... Also, Microsoft has accepted it as an issue and its not possible to get it install in Home Premium...just wanted to share and might be useful for someone like me.

Any official links of microsoft website which states that are great.
ASP.NET Buttons are not firing OnClink() events if it is placed in content page. There is no problem for master page buttons. This problem I am facing only in windows xp home edition.
View 6 RepliesI spent the better part of today hunting down an elusive error. I was getting a message saying that it couldn't find the Index view for the Home controller, and it gave a list of locations it searched, e.g., ~/Views/Home/Index.aspx. This was really confusing as the file definitely existing and was at ~/Views/Home/Index.aspx, the first place in the list of locations it searched for the view!
What I eventually discovered was that there was a file that did not get published when I used Visual Studio's "Publish" feature (this is on the "Build" menu). That file was Views/Home/Home.master, and (as you can probably guess) is the master file used by Views/Home/Index.aspx. Once I copied that file into place manually, it started working. But I am left wondering--why??? Why does this file not get published? It's a part of my project, I can see it in the solution explorer, and it's obviously a critical file that's necessary for the MVC app to run. It has the same permissions as every other file in my project. So why wouldn't it get copied? And how can I fix it so it does get copied?
My laptop is running Vista Home Premium. I recently reinstalled Windows from recovery and ran updates. I set up IIS 6 and downloaded Visual Web Develper Express 2008 including SQL Server Express 2008. They all look fine, and I am able to set up database from Visual Studio. But I am not able to download Management Studio Express 2008. Each time it lead me to a file list after downloading, but not installation. What wrong with it?

When I did the uninstall, am getting a wierd error message "A problem has been encountered while loading the set up components .Cancelling set up". I googled this and found some posts asking me to uninstall all the hot fixes associated with VS 2008 TS .I did that but still am getting the same message.

View 2 RepliesI had first build an database and populated it with various information, set some properties related to FTS and other things.
Now, in the asp.net MVC application, I am able to add the database ServerExplorer->Connect To Database-> Data Source= MS SQL SERVER->Server name->OpAmp-pc. Now, I was unable to add the database by copying the file in app data folder.
My doubt it how can I share the website+ database with my fellow batchmate or put the whole website online.
Build->Publish Sirte, didn't solved the pupose.
I have created a web applcation and i need to publish that in a sharepoint server with single sign one.
View 1 RepliesI'm working in Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I have a web application based upon the standard ASP.NET Web Application, which contains the aspnetdb.mdf SQL Express database for forms based security. For testing deployment, I'm trying to use the Publish option to publish the web app to IIS 7, which exists on the same machine that I'm building the web app on. The machine is running Windows 2008 R2.
I went through the Help file to set up the deployment of the database, using the Package/Publish SQL tab in the site properties. I followed the help file to the letter, or so I thought. I go to publish to the virtual directory I set up on IIS and it gives me errors, specifically saying the following:
Web deployment task failed.(The database'|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf' could not be created.)
I took this to mean the the path isn't valid for publishing to, which makes sense. So I changed the destination path to the fully qualified path (C:WebAppsApp_Dataaspnetdb.mdf) and ran it again. This time I got the following error:
Web deployment task failed.(Cannot connect to the database 'C:WebAppsAppDataaspnetdb.mdr'.)
I looked at the security for the folder and everything seems fine. Now I'm stuck.
My question is - can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, or supply a list of steps to follow, or give me a link to a site that has clear steps as to how this is done?
Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 was being used along with SQL Express for website development on the Operating System, Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition of Intel Xeon CPU @ 2.13 GHz (2 Processors) containing 12 GB RAM with 64-bit Operating System. Website was developed along with the databases of SQL Express with the help of Visual Studio. Whether the developed website along with the databases may be used on the Operating System, Windows 7 of 64-bit? The website will used within Intranet. Which Operating System and configuration to be used for the Intranet Website?
View 1 RepliesI'm relatively new to actually publishing sites on my own..Anyway, right now I am using VS2008 to build / compile my web application and then publish it to the server. Simple enough, until I want to change several of the code behinds, and don't want to spend 30 minutes re-publishing several thousand documents.
I have been reading that publishing via VS is not the best approach, so I guess I have two questions:
1. Using VS2008, is there a way to build the project and publish only certain parts of the project such as the pre-compiled code or better yet have VS only update the code that has been changed on the server? I suppose I could simply publish it to my local drive and pick apart the files from there / is there a better way?
2. In your opinion what is the best deployment strategy?
I have a program which I would like to publish to my company's intranet server so that employees are able to implement updates. I am not sure how to go about this but I have done some research on IIS and I was wondering if anyone could clue me in a little more with what I need to do. I have not yet downloaded IIS to give it a try as I'm not sure where I would go from there.
View 1 RepliesI need to create a web application using ASP.NET MVC, jQuery and web standards for a customer with a style which look like Windows Vista/Seven. Can anybody indicate me a link to do this with CSS? I have searched on the web, but I couldn't find it. I'd like to have interface elements like "window", "menu", "buttons", "form controls", etc.

I have developed a website in asp.net webforms, I've tested this website in IE7, IE8, Ie9 (RC), Firefox, Chrome and Safari, in Windows XP and Windows 7. Everything works fine.
But in Internet Explorer in Windows Vista, does not working. The website opens in browser, but when the application needs a postback it does not work. I don't know why it is happening.

Anyone know of a skinnable audio player (or something similar to Windows Vista audio control in task bar) that i can embed in my website?
A player that can be customized to use a 'speaker' icon instead of a 'play' icon. When the speaker is clicked, the volume can be adjusted or turned off. The option of being able to autoplay and set the default volume level.
