Jun 4, 2010I have 3 web.configs and 1 web project. I compile it once, and when deploy it, all I do is copy the correct web.config to the correct directory.
This is too complicate to maintain, when I have web.config change I must change all the three.
So, what I want is to keep only one web.config file, for all three websites.
In order of doing so, I have created a new settings.xml file, and I wish to read everything from there instead of te web.config file.
to my questions:
1. I need to remove ConnectionString from web.config to the settings.xml file. How do I change the providers connection string programatically?

Seems like moving the connection string to a different file might be a difficult task:)

Configuration :: Use To Copy/publish Websites To Web Server Is Not Allowing Us Access To Push Websites?
Oct 15, 2010the account we use to copy/publish websites to our web server is not allowing us access to push websites. I've added this account to the permissions in the links listed in the below link, but i don't have success when trying to push remotely. I don't do develompment work, but am asked to figure out this connection problem.

Configuration :: Cant Run Websites After Installed The VS 2010?
Jan 19, 2011After i Installed the VS 2010. I ran into problems running the asp.net 2.0 websites.
I visited the fixes page to read about the IIS metabase. the problem is - aspnet_regiis of framework .net 2.0 doen't work any more. Also all the websites / virtual directories configured in IIS 5.x on Windows XP to use the asp.net 2.0 framework don't work.
So i downloaded the Metaacl.vbs to check the settings of IIS metabase on my PC.
The permissions assigned to Admin user and the Service user account seems to be alright. No i am confused as to what is the exact cause of -
1) The websites targeting Framework 2.0 are not working any more
2) Why is the aspnet_regiis corrupt and gives the error - "The application failed to initialize properly" Is it a known compatibility issue for VS 2008 and VS 2010. Can we or Can we not have both of them installed parallely?

Mar 23, 2011I just upgraded to windows 4G hosting from old windows hosting on Godaddy. I have hosted multiple websites on this hosting account. The primary domain website [URL] is working fine after the upgrade but all other sites hosted in same account report some errors.
The structure is like this:
Root: inHouseRecipes.com
Root/s/Website1
Root/s/Website2
I have checked that the websites in subfolders are set up as an application in IIS 7. Also, the web.config of parent (root) website has the following

inheritInChildApplications="false"

tag to stop other child web.config to inherit anything from parent.
I use asp.net to code my websites. Before 4G upgrade everything used to work like a charm.
Has anybody else also experiences the same issues? If yes, what are the changes that we need to make to support multiple web sites in same 4G hosting account?

May 3, 2010I have deploy my web site, it contains a project!
in MyWeb there are all the aspx page and some entites datamodel, in MyApp there are the class with function like "getter data from DB" and there is a entity data model.
afeter the deploy, I have only the web.config and the connection string for the entity datamodel....itīs run ok, read/write the data on the DB.
The problem is with MyApp.....after the deploy it is a dll file and I donīt have the app.config and the entity inside it donīt run, not read/write nothing on the DB.
There arenīt error or messager but not read/write the data in the MyApp project.
all run on the iis 7
now...the question is:
I lose the connection string (in app.config) after the deploy?
Can I put a entity in the MyWeb and read it in another project (myApp)?
ps: for connect to DB I use not the c# code:

May 4, 2010I want to use two(or one if possible in my task) web.config file in my web site root , one in main root and another in a sub directory (such as : ~/Pages/) , and after that use two difference authentication tag in those , my main web.config is in Windows mode authentication , because my login page is there , and second is in forms mode because i dont want any user access pages in ~/Pages root except after login , how do i do that ? its possible to i dont any change in machine.config file and use location tag in first web.config and delete second? if its possible how ? or if not what do i do ?
