"Could Not Find Installable ISAM" Exception When Try To Read DBASE IV File.
Aug 27, 2010
I need to open and read a Dbase file in my ASP.NET application. When I try to open the connection, I am getting the exception "Could not find installable ISAM." I have tried the solutions in the top answer in this question, but they did not work for me.The filepath of the data file is C:devDATA.DBF. Here is the code I am using to try to open the connection:
Dim connectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;DataSource=C:devDATA.DBF;Extended Properties=dBASE IV;"
Dim connection As OleDbConnection = New OleDbConnection(connectionString)
connection.Open()
I get the exception "Could not find installable ISAM." Do you have any ideas what I can try to get this to work? Note that I am able to import this file into an Access database as a dBASE IV file.
i got the following error while i am trying to get my web application to run on windows server 2003. I've installed 2007 data access components on windows server 2003 but the web application does not seem to work. The codes that i use is as follows:
[code]....
I've read a lot of forum posts and almost all of them mentioned ab out the connectionstring being wrong. However, when i ran the codes on my local machine, there were no errors. The error only show when i was running on windows server 2003.
I have an asp.net website that needs to connect to a dBase file on a remote server. The remote server has a ODBC System DSN connection configured but I have no idea how to connect to it.
I have a css file which I want to read from disk and in that content I want to find and replace all linebreaks (do I look for vbCrlf or ...?)
Public Shared Function GetFileContents(ByVal FullFilename As String) As String Dim filecontents As String = "" If File.Exists(FullFilename) Then Dim objStreamReader As StreamReader objStreamReader = File.OpenText(FullFilename) filecontents = objStreamReader.ReadToEnd() objStreamReader.Close() End If Return filecontents End Function
So in the returned variable "filecontents" I want to find and replace any linebreaks.
I have a large XML file that contains invalid hex characters. I'm trying to test a function that removes invalid characters from the XML file but it must be stored in a string. When I try to read the XML file into a string I receive an out of memory exception. The file is 149MB. Can anyone tell me if there is another way to do this?
I get a dataset from the OleDbDataAdapter for a query.I need to modify some the contents in the datatable.The first column is a date field which repeats. I want to delete the duplicates so that it looks like a group by column.I tried the following
1) Trying to modify the dataset looping through it. I get an error that dataset is read only
2) Cloned the dataset and tried to modify that rows. I get an error Column 'Entered_Date' is read only
Code: Try LoggerWrite("EX - Message: " & Ex.Message.ToString, "ErrorLog") Dim myDE As DictionaryEntry If Ex.Data.Count > 0 Then For Each myDE In Ex.Data LoggerWrite(" EX DictionaryEntry: Key = " & myDE.Key.ToString & " Value = " & myDE.Value.ToString, "ErrorLog")
[code]....
The user is getting a 500 internal error occurred. What he is trying to do is create a datagrid. The error only happens when there are a lot of data used to build the grid. But why exactly is it too much data? And can I increase a buffer or set something in a config file to allow all the data? The data come from a web service.
I'm in the process of migrating a web application from a DBase III backend to mySql. During the process, I am going to be running simultaneous update queries to two datasources, one being the original dbase III structures, and the other the mySql schema/tables. I need a way to determine that when any data updates occur, that the two data sources match each other.
I found this piece of code:
[URL]
However, I hvae the same error as another user, in that when I add items to the comparison, I'm limited to 32 columns, and some of the DBASE III structures have 120+ columns. I'm somewhat of a C# n00b, so I need some /pointers. I tried playing around with the MERGE functions for datatables, but couldn't get it to work the way I wanted it to.
and i found it, here http://forums.asp.net/p/1480079/3451771.aspxi can fairly easily code for a general dbase (name, address, etc..)my question here with this code is...where does my dbase info go?
my dbase info dbase name = files tablename = fileTable column names = fileOne, fileTwo, fileThree the file upload object is called "fileupload1" and this all goes with a "submit" button
also, that is pretty much for one file, what if the user is uploading more than one file? do i just add more if/then statements, one for each fileupload object?
how can i programatically create table in sql2005 from exisiting dbase or dbf file along with data in the files.....

I am trying to create strogly typed datasets for my project. When I right click on the xsd file that I need to generate a strongly typed dataset for I can't find the 'Advanced' properties as described in the below article (almost half way down)[URL]As I do not see the Advanced properties option I can't find the 'Custom Tool' property/option to set its value to 'MSDatasetGenerator'. Do I have to install some kind of patch on my VS 2005?

"Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "AjaxControlToolkit.Properties.Resources.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "AjaxControlToolkit" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed."

I would like to use HTML input file type in my aspx page to allow user to browse for a excel file and then read the content of the excel sheet programmatically.If I want to read the excel sheet I need the full path of the file to connect to the excel sheet using asp.net.I do not understand how can I get the full path of the file.I know I can get the filename using postedFile.FileName property.But I need the full path of the file.
I have created an excel sheet from datatable using function. I want to read the excel sheet programatically using the below connectionstring. This string works fine for all other excel sheets but not for the one i created using the function. I guess it is because of excel version problem.
OleDbConnection conn= new OleDbConnection("Data Source='" + path +"';provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Extended Properties=Excel 8.0;";);
which i can create an excel sheet such that it is readable again using above query. I cannot use Microsoft InterOp library as it is not supported by my host. I have even changed different encoding formats. Still it doesnt work
I want to add a calendar extender to my website so I downloaded the lastest Ajax Control Toolkit, added the calendar and when I start debugging I get this exception: Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "AjaxControlToolkit.Properties.Resources.NET4.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "AjaxControlToolkit" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed. I have the dlls in the bin folder... I followed all the steps in the instruction guide for installing the ajax control toolkit.
