I am trying to create user by registration form which contains dropdown for profession in ASP.NET MVC
Eg. Individual, professional, manager etc.
some fields are common like name & Last Name...
some fields are unique by profession...
how do i program it with ajax.
Possible to use a link control to validate and submit a form? What would be the code to tie the click event of the link control to the submission functions? (I prefer link buttons much more than input buttons for styling across browsers.)

What I need to do is when the data submits redirect the user to a page where they can download a personalised certificate in either PDF or word, which has been partly populated by the data entered in the web form.
I have a shortcut on my desktop to a login page for a website I use quite often. Every time I go there I have to reenter my user name and password.
The desktop URL shortcut I have is
http://domain.com/service/Login.aspx
I've tried adding the following changes
http://domain.com/service/Login.aspx?username=ckimball&password=joshua1
But this doesn't auto populate the fields on the website when it loads. Is there something special I need to do so the webpage will fill in the fields on the form?
Also bonus if I could just auto submit to login so I don't need the page to load and have me click "login" but I don't think that's possible... or is it?

I am beginner to MVC. I have created a View with dropdownlist, text box and text area. I didn't create a strongly typed view because these fields are not generating from the database. Is this right way of doing it? Do I have to create a 'Model' class and generate a strongly typed view? I am trying to validate(client and server side) these fieds before saving into the database. How to create a Model class for these fields?

Is there any reliable way to check if user has entered Arabic words into a form and tries to submit it? Can Javascript handle this? Or, only server script like .NET can do this?
I'm thinking that if possible the script should directly prevent the user from inputting Arabic words into the form and show an alert pop up.

There are a forum on my website where user can save his personal details. my problem is that when user submit his detail in database and again refresh URL (f5), Â event again arise and request go to server, double entry saved in database. It wouldd be an Intranet application so all users would be on the domain. How is this done in ASP.net? In Coldfusion I would set the following variable

The top half has validators. I want to be able to type into the Filter textbox and press enter to fire it's submit button - but when I press enter, it validates the top half of the form also. I have all the controls in the top half on one ValidationGroup, and all of the controls on the bottom half in another.
I have a web form called default.aspx which has a form with user information. In addition to this, I have an iFrame on the same page that displays a page Secondary-Form.aspx that has a few additional dynamic data fields. I need to do two things.
1. I need to pass the parent form data in real time to the iFrame page to refresh its content and modify it's fields accordingly. Example: If the user submits their Vehicle Choice as Car on parent form, the form item in iFrame will display a radio button that says Honda, and if the user submits their Vehicle Choice as MotorCycle in the parent page, the iFrame will display Harley Davidson as the radio button choice
2. The submit button is on the parent page. I want both pieces of this information (from the parent page, as well as iFrame selection) to be passed to a server side ASPX page to process this information.the default.aspx and Secondary-Form.aspx files are located on different domains.

View 11 Replies I have a textbox that I am "custom" validating to lookup in a table to see if the name exists. When I test it out, if it finds a duplicate, the validation results in an error message as I would expect. First is this only works if I add autopostback to my textbox and that I click elsewhere on the page. The other issue is that after I type a string in my textbox, I want it to validate such that if it returns an error, I don't want to submit the form until the validation is good.
How would I programatically set this up?

i have designed a website in my desktop and used WAT of visual studio 2008 from Website menu and then selecting ASp.Net configuration.
Now i have copied my website to a server in my local network, server name=isaserver.
i try to access WAT utility of my website at isaserver. when i change webconfig file to correct data source, utility is working but
if i create a user using my website's create user form, then that user appears in aspnetdb database of isaserver but i am not able to see that user using WAT utility.
if i create a user using WAT utility then i am not able to login into my website hosted at isaserver using that username.
no matter how i create a user, either through my website's create user form or through WAT which is mapped to isaserver, both the users will appear in aspnetdb database of isaserver.

View 3 RepliesI want to create a user registration form, I used the CreateUserWizard control, and i intend to add more filed with the wizard interface, the fields were firstname,lastname, telephone all these with the textBox control and sex-male or female with a radioButton control, and upload photo with the FileUpload control.
After a successfull submit to the sql database, i should be able to retrieve all this informtion inluding the photo uploaded in another aspx page using any of the data control in y toolbox and resizein the photo to be 100/100 pixel size. pls could you write out the code (step by step details) to follow to implement all this in my asp.net 3.5 c# website. I have already created a table in my database, using userId as my ForeignKey.
