I am new to Visual Studio 2010 and ASP.Net, and when I first connected my SQL Server to Visual Studio it created huge files full of my SQL classes (maybe this was LINQ classes), and I accidently deleted/corrupted those files, and now I want it to create those classes again. Can someone tell me how I can do that?

I have created a hierarchy: Deals,Deal, DealSlots, DealSlot that is represented by 4 corresponding vb files So I can reference like so in my aspx pages dim alldeals as class Deals some id=Deals.Deal(1).DealSlots(2).PersonID I created a Public Method GetDealData which is in Deals.vb and gets data from a database and attempts to populate the class variables.I have a test.aspx that uses this function like so:

I am trying to implement the TinyMCE Spellcheck plugin that uses GoogleSpell. The thing is I am trying to install it in an MVC environment. I started by referencing the .NET class Library DLL (MoxieCode.TinyMCE) in my project. Then, I added this code to my web.config:

These steps are outlined in the tutorial here. I then followed instructions from this stack overflow post which recommended the following modification to global.asax to make it mvc friendly:

Everything seems fine accept that when I browse to /TinyMCE.ashx i get this error:

I have set up my buddy class with validators. However I only want the validators to fire of the associated fields are used in that particular screen. When I split them across 2 screens I find my validation doesn't work. How do I fix this? View 3 RepliesI have a menu (linked to a sitemap) wrapped in to a panel surrounded by a round control extender. The menu has StaticMenuItemStyle, StaticHoverStyle and StaticSelectedStyle. The first 2 works like a charm but not the StaticSelectedStyle. On click of the menu item the screen is redirected to appropriate page, but the menu item cssclass is set back to StaticMenuItemStyle. The background of the menu items are images. I tried some of the solutions from other posts, but no use.

If put in each page's OnLoad, it works fine. But when I add it to the masterpage, it doesn't work. Is there something about the ServerVariables or Session Object that would prevent using those in a masterpage? Is it an issue calling my class from a materpage?

I'm unable to set Comments property of a MembershipUser type objects.
E.g.

mu.Comment = "someComments";
I'd expect this to set the Comment property of mu object to "someComments" and write changes to the database.
Later, I do a following check:
mu.Comment == "someComments";
Comment property is set to null. Is there anythign that I need to change in a web.config or...?

I have tried using the asp.netsqlprovider but i can;t as i am only allowed one database on the server, so i then tried to update my current database with the triggers to input the schema into the already existing database.Next step i create my own table with two simple fields of username and password and try and authenticate that way, i can't get that to work either.
I ahve limited permissions on the network as i am a University Student. I really don't know what to do. Never had to create a log on system before and i thought it would be far simpler than this. I ahve used Microsoft's sqlprovider schema before and it worked fine. I have also authenticated via IIS and AD too before. I can't do any of those two in this instance it seems.I need an alternative for logging in users, if needs be in can be crude. I also still need to have some kind of two different views too for logged in users and not logged in users, but that can change if needs must.Don't let me down people, haha. Think this posts in the correct place, i could not find another one i thought could be more relevant.
We are building an ASP.NET application with C#.net language and Oracle 9i database. Here we installed Oracle 9i client software on our PCs.We never worked on Oracle 9i database. It's the first time.We are planning to build stored procedures in Oracle database and call them from our ASP.NET application. note that the class library has controllers, views, models etc. It just doesn't have the web.config, global.asax, etc that a normal mvc project would have.

All I want to do is learn how to create a class procedure. And then. How to call it. As an example, A + B = C is the procedure. I would create a class. Right? Then do I name the procedure and put it in the class? Or create a new class for each procedure? Then I would want to, on a local level, substitue values for A & B to return C. So, if the public procedure exists, how to I call it? I know that this is really simple stuff, but I need examples to be simple.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to create a pageBase class where I can dynamically pull data from the database and display it on a web page. Each page I specifically set an ID for the sql query which pulls back the information such as page title and page text.
my problem is that I can't seem to pass the information captured from the query to the page. I get problems such as can't convert string type to literal and I need to declare a new keyword to an object.

My Question:
I created my user control
public partial class Controls_MyUserControl : System.Web.UI.UserControl
I've registered it in my web.config

I can reference this on a page just fine
<UC:MyUserControl ID="MyUserControl1" runat="server" />
Yet when I try to create an object of this control type in a class (in my app_code folder) it doesn't allow me.
Controls_MyUserControl dummy = new Controls_MyUserControl();
The potentially strange thing is when I put this code into a code behind of a page, it works.
what I need to do to have the usercontrol to be able to be created in my class in the app_code folder?
My guess is, is that I need to reference the control in a "using" statement at the top, but I'm not sure what that'd be.
It's not in a namespace to my knowledge (at least there's no namespace, in the code behind of the actually user controls). Though I'm not sure if it inherits one from the System.Web.UI.UserControl.

I am maintaining and old application in ASP.Net and it has one CustomGridView control with 4000 lines of code. I see that in that file only, when I try to modify any code the IDE does not respond quickly as it does for other files. I thought of creating partial classes for the same but it seems that VS is not reconginzing the new partial class. I am trying to use the variables from the old partial class and it is not able to reconize any variable or method.
