Because I want to open the pdf file so I do not use updatepanel. When I hit linkbutton to update data on the GridView, it does not perform as new. Although I did call to load the data and bind.

i think i can't see the forrest for the trees.......there HAS to be a simple way to do this. so i created a web page and on that page i have two dropdown lists. the first is STATE and the second is COUNTY. the STATE is a static list. but the COUNTY is generated whenever the STATE changes. now....when i set up the COUNTY dropdown list, it prompted me for a datasource. i have a store procedure which takes the 2-letter STATE code and returns all the counties for that state. so i set up the datasource for the COUNTY drop down list by just following the prompts from visual studio. i gave it a default state of Alabama (AL). and all is fine. so here's my question: how can i reload the datasource and subsequently the COUNTY dropdown list? i see no way to access the datasource that the environment generated for me.
well.....i thought.......i'll just do it the old fashioned way and set up a command.......connectionstring.......and sql statement and load the results into a datareader (do i REALLY have to do all that?)
but it still doesn't work. what's the simplest way for me to just re-fire my stored procedure and pass it the STATE parameter and reload the datasource and dropdown list?

I have a FormView at the very bottom of the page in insert/edit mode. When I click insert/update button, the whole page reload and the pointer does not keep within the Formview but go to the very top of the page far away from the desired FormView.
What can I do here to prevent cursor going outside the Formview ? Is it I can use update panel ? What and where I should use the tags ? Or there are other better way ?

i need to show 3 gridviews in a tab container (ajax).. which should refresh at same time.. what is the optimal way to get data from database for that can some one show a solution for this .
i need to design an application in asp.net using gridview custom control. the gridview will show hundreds of records using paging with checkboxes in every row. if the user checks 3 rows in first page of gridview which is showing 9 rows, those 3 rows should appear on top in the next gridview page and the page should display only 6 new records. ie 6+3=9 similarly if user checks 2 more rows, the next page should show 3+2 rows(from first 2 pages) on top and only 4 new rows ( 3+2+4=9)software developer

I have a drop downlist,and next to it there is an MS bar chart.i want to change the datate of the MS chart ,once the user selects another year from the dropdownlist.
When the page loads ,the chart displays the default year(2011) and it works.The problem is that is does not change the data when you select another year from the dropdownlist.

What is the best practice to force the postback Data and ViewState data to be re-loaded on the code behind?
The reason I ask this is, i have one gridview which is generated dynamically and I when it is structure is generated the postback data is already loaded and I want to forse asp.net to reload the postback data once I have my gridView structure is generated.

I have a screen with user buttons for 'Count Records' and 'Search Records'.
If a user clicks the 'Search Records' button, the matching records will be displayed on the screen.
If a user THEN clicks the 'Count Records' button, the previous records are still displayed, and a Count value is displayed.
How do i remove the previous records, if any are displayed, when a user clicks the 'Count Records' button ?

I've got a dialog that I'm calling from javascript (showModalDialog). This dialog has 3 text boxes that get populated with data from a database in my Page_Load - !IsPostBack section of my code. It works fantastically the first time I run the dialog. I change one of the textboxes and click save which writes back to the DB to update that field, and then the window closes.
I open the dialog again, and the textbox which I just changed and saved in the DB (and confirmed that the DB has the new value) still has the original value! I even ran through the page in debug, and it shows the textbox getting assigned the updated value, and yet it still has the old one.

I am loading the autocomplete extender properly but I need the PK from the selectedValue. I have looked at other examples and they do NOT show how to drill into the tabcontainer, then drill into the listview, and then locate the extender value. Here is what I have so far. My "TABCONTAINER" value shows the extender correctly but I am unable to locate it.

I made a usercontrol consisting of an AJAX tab control, a textbox, and a gridview. The gridview is pulling data from a SQL database. When the gridview is outside of the tab control and I begin to enter text into the textbox, quicksearch begins to filter the information in the gridview. When i put the gridview and textbox inside an AJAX tab control quicksearch does not work. How do i need to structure the textbox and the gridview on an ajax update panel to get it to work?

I have a cascading dropdownlist. The first drop down is for Departments and is databound on PageLoad from the database. The user then selects a department and the second dropdown is populated with the appropriate sub departments via JQuery/JSON which calls an httphandler. The problem is as follows: I select a department and the subdepartments are filled.
I finish what I'm doing on that screen and everything is fine. But then if I go to a different screen and add an additional subdepartment then come back to original screen, the new sub department won't appear in the cascading dropdown. I have to close the browser and restart the session in order for any new sub departments to appear even though they are in the database. I put a breakpoint in the httphandler and noticed that it is only called once per session per each department in the first dropdown. I don't know why this is happening. I want it to call the httphander EVERY time the index of the department dropdown is changed.
