I have two embedded dropdown lists in Gridview control. One gives you business channel options and the other represents products depending on the business channel selected.I am trying to use different data sources for product dropdown list depeding on what the user selected from the business channel drop down list. How could I do this. Here is my current code:
I must create a few DataLists programmatically. All of them will share the same ItemTemplate. Is it possible to define this ItemTemplate in .aspx file, using wizard etc, and then create DataList programmatically and assign this template? There is information in the internet how to define both ItemTemplate and DataList programmatically, but I want to define the ItemTemplate statically and only DataList programmatically and then assign the template to it.
The problem that I encounter is that ItemTemplate tag only works inside some control tag. It looks like it is impossible to define an ItemTemplate (like e.g. resource in Silverlight) not associated with any DataList, using the wizard and design tools, and then reference this template in code during runtime.
I need to set the "Text" property of a label inside a gridview using, I know how to set the label using static value and I also know how to set the label using the "Bind" keyword but I want to do both, something like this:
I have a panel with two static buttons. A "Ok" button and a "Cancel" button". Depending on ther client actions, one or more controls will be added to the panel. Is there a way I can add the dynamic controls above the static ones?
i m want to bind asp.net menu control from database and some of static value both, i know how to bind menu from DB and also know how to static bind the data in Menu, but i want two add two static record in menu control and after that i want to bind data from DB in menu control, and than again three static record bind in menu..... i think a lot about this and finally i thought to add my static data in dataset at particular positons, but problem is that i dont know how to bind static data in dataset at particular 1st 2nd and 4th,5th,6th pos.
Which one is faster? For a dropdownlist binding it the first time and using ViewSate or Turning of viewstate, keeping the data in a static datatable and binding the dropdownlist each time on a postback
i'm using asp.net 3.5 and what im trying to do is create the dropdownlist item dynamically base on value in each datarow, then user select from dropdownlist and click button to postback, when postback system should be able to know what value has been selected by user. the problem with following code is during postback, event of "OnItem_Created" get fired and e.Item.DataItem return null, therefore the dropdownlist will not get populated with the items and that caused the dropdownlist unable to return value selected by user. am i missing anything? is "OnItemCreated" the best place to dynamic create the dropdownlist item?
I want to add inputs from textboxes, ddl to datagridview without saving it to database by clicking on add button as many rows i want and later save it to database when clicked on save button....
I have a gridview which is having coloumns Company name, Industry type, country, employees, revenue. i want to add dropdown at the top of each coloumn so that if user select industry as agriculture, all agriculture industry rows may be sorted, and same for other dropdown also.. i it may be possible,
I am creating a site, where I have to add dynamic controls to panel. Means for every radio button click, I have to reset the panel and add new controls. I was doing that with C# code, by adding and removing controls programatically, but in backend I have to create lots of objects of controls in page load event. I want to ask that, doing this will put pressure/load on client or server side. Or I have to change layout and put different pages with static controls.
I would like to know if I can do the following: when I am in insert mode, can I dynamically change the select command of and then display that result in the second dropdownlist based on what was selected in the first dropdownlist.
I would like to include the minimum code to demonstrate what I am trying to do.
I ask for a date, on OnTextChanged event i bind data with a SqlDataSource to a dropdownlist and also bind data to a repeater passing the dropdownlist SelectedIndex (i use SqlDataSource too and ControlParameter to link the dropdownlist and the repeater) On my repeater during the ItemDataBound event i create dynamic dropdownlist controls, my code is :
[Code]....
[Code]....
On the Page_load event of my page i bind the data & recreate the control :
[Code]....
Everything works fine, datas are bound and SelectedIndexes are restore on every postback.
The probem occurs when user change different dropdownlists, if he choose to change the 1st dropdownlist the event is fire (normal), after if he modifies another dropdownlist the event is fire twice, if he modifies a 3rd time the event is fire 3 time etc...
I'm new to web dev and c# so please bare with me. I am trying to create a dynamic gridview in a web form for users to to answer questions with (code below).
The dificulty im having is that i am nesting a dropdwonlist in the gridview and want to be able to dynamically set the list values based on parameters (of the row they are on). These values are in the main dataset for the gridview as each row represents a questionid and question text and then a ddl for the criteria...
I just don't know how to set the values for the dropdown all the code so far is below... just need to be able to populate the dropdowns with the relevant values.
I have created a stored proc to return the different criteria based on the questionid and questionGroupid which is the dataset that populates the other fields in the gridview: dbo.usp_QuestionCriteria @QuestionGroupId, @QuestionId
I have added this as a tableadapter called criteriaTableAdapter in a xsd file as well using the wizard... not sure if this is the right option though or just use the same method as i have for the other stored procedure as in the code below:

I'm building a site where users can purchase 'credits' and buy items on the website with them. I'm wondering, what is the best way of storing the user's overall Credits value? Is it best to do a SUM() of all Credits they have purchased before from the 'Credits.Orders' table, or for performance purposes when they add credits to their account, should it increase a 'Credits' field value in a 'Users' table? For consistency purposes I would like to go with the first option, but the second option sounds better in terms of not running loads of pointless calculations every time I need to know their credit value.
Im using MS SQL 2005 as my database for asp.net application.. now i want to asign Static ip address to ms sql server 2005 to access all over the world... so would u plz tell me step by step to configure static ip to ms sql server 2005..
im developing a silverlight project using silverlight 3, vs2008 and linq2sql. when projects starts, im storing all the data from database into some static list variables. so when ever i need data, im reading it from those static list variables. all i want to know is, is it good to store data in static list variables and use it when ever necessary or is it good to get data directly from DataClassesDataContext object like db.mytable. which is the rite and fastest way or retrieving data. i mean which will use less connections to database?
I have been struggling with this now for about two weeks, Within my site that functions as a directory, there are some simple Categories that appear to the user ashttp://www.mysite.com/subcat.aspx?catid=1 in the browser address bar. There are 15 of them in total.I would like to rewrite the URL of these Categories using RewriteMap in the following manner:
I'm using a SP to fill the drop down list and when I look at the values in the drop down list the first row of the dataset is missing. Here's the code I'm using, I've left out the database connection info and the link to the SP
StaffListRS = cmdStaff.ExecuteReader() If StaffListRS.Read() Then ddlStaffList.Datasource = StaffListRS ddlStaffList.DataTextField = "StaffName" ddlStaffList.DataValueField = "NewStaffID" ddlStaffList.DataBind() ddlStaffList.Items.Insert(0, New ListItem("All", 0) If
