I have one table it's contain multiple columns and one of them is
[Call_Ref_No] [numeric](18, 0) IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL
In this column I am facing issue is some time its missing the identity value... For example

Here in this example 4 and 7 is missing...I could not able to find these two reference in my table so what I can do? How I can stop this occurrence.
I have a table converted from Access and the identity keys were lost. Now I need to make the id column the identity column, but it already has a lot of null values, how do I auto generate integer values for the null rows? The row ids are incremented, so if there is a way to auto increment the ids

However, when the application goes running with real data to the client and the client want his ID values from starting 1, then we need to RESEED the value of the IDENTITY column of the table after clearing all data. This can be done as bellows:
DBCC CHECKIDENT (TableName, RESEED, 0)
However, can be reseed with any values instead of zero(0) in the above statement.
I have an identity column that increment by 1 on every insert. I have deleted all the rows using delete query but the identity coulumn is still not reseting to zero, how do i reset it, as it was when the table was first created.

I am in a serious trouble right now, i wanted to know that how to write a query in LINQ to SQL to retrieve identity column's current value before inserting any value.
I need this cos i m building a windows app n i need to display this value before inserting a record. I have tried DataContext.ExecuteCommand('DBCC CHECKIDENT (Tablename)') but it returns the number of rows modified.

So just want to ask whats the largest number record id (identity) column can hold and in ASP.NET which data type i should use to handle record id as i am using this id as a reference to update the table data. I am creating a custom gridview control which has a custom CheckBoxTemplateField column (deriving from TemplateField class). This template field column has custom Checkboxheadertemplate (implementing ITemplate) and CheckboxItemTemplate (also implementing ITemplate). In InstantiateIn method of both templates (header as well as Item template), I am adding a checkbox control which has Autopostback = true.
My requirement is:
I want to mark all the values in the binding column of datasource if checkbox in headertemplate is checked. I dont want to mark only rows visible on grid. I WANT TO MARK ALL ROWS IN DATASOURCE. I want to do this in _CheckedChanged event of checkbox in header template.
Problem I am facing: When I check/uncheck the checkbox in header, it postbacks. so in OnCheckedChanged event, gridview's datasource is null. Secondly, in any event of gridview, I could access only those rows of datasource for which corresponding rows are visible in gridview through Gridviewrow.DataItem property. But I want to set it for all rows in datasource.
i dont know why this happens and when happens......i have one employee table that contain date field and that field contain two different values one is -'2008-10-01 00:00:00.000' and second is '2008-10-01 12:00:00.000'.can anyone explain when this type of value insert in database.

how do i multiply the columns like this. for now static explanation would be ok but eventually i would like to make it dynamic so there would be a text box for users to enter the amout they like e.g 160g then the table would know to multiply the columns by 1.6.

The field 'idUser' is autoincremented. When I use SqlDataSource with a DetailsView, add option it adds a record and autoincrements the 'isUser'.
I just uploaded an asp.net webforms site I've been working on to my ISP's servers. I have a simple page that allows users to enter schedule data. The problem is that when the user clicks the Add button and I try to process the values they've entered in the textboxes and dropdownlist in the click event handler, all the values are blank. For example, there's a DropDownList called uxStartTime on the page and after postback uxStartTime.SelectedValue is blank. However, the Response.Form[uxStartTime.UniqueID] has the proper value. I have EnableViewState="true" in the aspx page. This all works fine on my local machine, just not on the server. Can anyone tell me what's going on? I can use the Respons.Form syntax, but it's a little more verbose and prone to typos.

For an example, I have a column A store is "ABC0001" and the 0001 is came from a column called Column B which identity on. when a new record inserted and Column B is next identity number and Column A value is "ABC" and add number from Column B.
View 4 RepliesIm not sure what i could have done wrong here but i created a dataset (ran a query and it returns the correct data) - created my BLL class - bound the ObjectDataSource to the control using the BLL - ran the site and all the data is showing as expected. Now i click edit columns (from DetailsView smart tag) and the selected fields are empty. I refresh the schema and this makes no difference. What could i be doing wrong?

Now the issue is that that every document doesn't has document number. I want to make invisible the docuNumber column of the grid viwe if all values in the docNumber retrieved are null.for example:

I've been self teaching SQL and asp.net and i'm a little stuck. I have a stored proc for the insert and then in my Insert inside my class it's not returning the ID after the insert as I am receiving an error message that NULL value has cannot be inserted.
