I have a page that lists products from a table based on the querystring. So if I say foo.aspx?fam=1 all the products from family 1 will be listed. How can I make my code list all the values if query string is empty? My SQL command would have to be different...can't really see how I can do this.
I have tried to query a table with an xml column by using XQuery and I can't get the Select to work.
All my knowledge/understanding of the subject comes from this MSDN article:
[URL]
so I am probably overlooking something minor:
I tried this query Select col1, Phone.Query('element CellPhone {I am not sure about what goes here} I tried {data('Phone/cellPhone} from aTable Where Phone.Exist('/Phone/cellPhone/text()[contains.,"412-8977"]') = 1 This syntax is definitely not fun.
On one line the Code may be OX01 and shape Hexagon for example
Then the next line the code is still OX01 but the shape is Triangle.
What I want to do is be able to pull back data for every line that is equal to a unique Code column. in the above example OX01 Hexagon would be returned but not OX01 Triangle.
I've tried using SELECT DISTINCT but it brings back all records and doesn't filter them correctly.
I've considered having another column which could have Child/Parent data so that only the parent is returned but i'm sure there must be a better way of doing this.
I am using the query listed below which includes multiple joins, in the result of the query I need to do some value replacement valuesExample: db.ASSETS.BUILDING_ID=300 that ID does not exist in db.BUILDINGS, in that case I need to return BUILDING_ID=0, db.BUILDINGS.NAME="Unassigned"
I am trying to fill a gridview with the data from Product table selecting few columns . I am using 3 - tier architecture and in DAL getproduct(userid) I am writing the query but cannot figure out exactly how to get that working .. here is piece of method I wrote
I am working on a small project. I ran the query below to get the maximum userid and increase it by 1 to create a new userid. However, when I run the query, it does not display the values that I enter into the database using insert statement. For example, if I open the table called login, I can see there are three records. If Irun the select statement, it only return one record which is the one that I enter manually when I first created the table. If I run the same select statement and give it a user id that I created, it returns the correct result.
I'm currectly tryin to access a specific value in my database in a specific column. I'm tryin to use the primary key of the table to access the actual value in the row of that ID.
The current code:
[Code]....
Just iterates through the table and looking for any row with the boolean 'checkin' value is True, then it takes the 'id' value of that row and stores it into an array. Is there a way that I can access a another entry, and only that entry, in the table with the 'id' stored in the array?
Like if my data base contained and int, primarykey, `id` value, a boolean, `checkedin` value, and a `time` value, is there a way to access, lets say, the row with `id` equalling 3 and and the checkIn value from that row?
I have a select statement in a stored procedure and want to be able to retrieve the key column value (PRODUCTID)and return it as Output when Select statement is executed on input Parameter (NAME).
addition, return two further output values (COST,TOTAL).
note the grid control expects to receive all values at once! so i need to get out these values at the same instance of execution.
Select productID,COST,QUANTITY,NAME,TOTAL,DATE FROM PRODUCTS WHERE NAME=@NAME
Is it possible to return multiple values from a stored procedure? Basically, if I execute the stored proc on the C# side, then on the SQL side I do multiple calculations. Let's say I have 5 int values I need returned to the C# side.
I am looking to display the value of a column and divite it by 1.175and display only the result do you know how to adjust the value of a column through a select statement in SQL?
Scenario: I am creating a custom gridview control which has a custom CheckBoxTemplateField column (deriving from TemplateField class). This template field column has custom Checkboxheadertemplate (implementing ITemplate) and CheckboxItemTemplate (also implementing ITemplate). In InstantiateIn method of both templates (header as well as Item template), I am adding a checkbox control which has Autopostback = true.
My requirement is: I want to mark all the values in the binding column of datasource if checkbox in headertemplate is checked. I dont want to mark only rows visible on grid. I WANT TO MARK ALL ROWS IN DATASOURCE. I want to do this in _CheckedChanged event of checkbox in header template.
Problem I am facing: When I check/uncheck the checkbox in header, it postbacks. so in OnCheckedChanged event, gridview's datasource is null. Secondly, in any event of gridview, I could access only those rows of datasource for which corresponding rows are visible in gridview through Gridviewrow.DataItem property. But I want to set it for all rows in datasource.
I am inserting data into Employee table using stored procedure. In employee table EmpNo is identity column.Once i insert data into table stored procedure should EmpNo i.e identitycolumn value.
correct my stored procedure to returm EMpNo Identity column after inserting row.
alter procedure SAR_Sp_AddEmployee(@EmpName varchar(10),@CampaignID int,@startDate datetime) as insert into EmpMaster values(@EmpName,@CampaignID,@startDate)
In general terms, which way will require more server processing power and which way will return faster queries... if there is even a difference. The client's database is still on the dev MS SQL server but is essentially but the client has decided they want to collect two more fields of information. Both fields are going to be collection text data and probably varchar(300) will be sufficient for the column data types. Would it ultimately be more efficient to
Add two additional columns in the main table so the data is entered directly into each record, or Add an additional table (or two) with a foriegn key to the primary table that holds the info for each new field The SELECT statement for the main table could be modified to either add the new columns (a.NewColumn1 and a.NewColumn2) or it could contain nested SELECT statements that pull in the data from the other tables. Custom daisy-chained Insert or Update statements would be no problem and a cascade Delete relationship would take care of any deletions. I'm just trying to figure out which would be better from a performance standpoint?
Am I going to be able to query (using LINQ to SQL) a database field with a type like the following "public System.Nullable<System.DateTime> Spouse_DOB"?
I'm trying to use the following code: [Code]....
and I get the error "'System.Nullable<System.DateTime>' does not contain a definition for 'Month' and no extension method 'Month' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Nullable<System.DateTime>' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)"
Is it because this DateTime column allows a NULL value (since everyone isn't married in my database)?
Error 1 'System.Nullable<System.DateTime>' does not contain a definition for 'Month' and no extension method 'Month' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Nullable<System.DateTime>' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
