DataSource Controls :: UDF Or Procedure To Get Records For Transposed Numbers?

Mar 8, 2010

I am looking for a function or procedure in sql server which assists me in figuring out the records which is having Transposed numbers. E.g one record is having invoice number as 1234 and another record is having invoice number as 2134(this is the definition for transposed records for me). My another problem is that the length of invoice number is not known. It can be from 1 character to 15 characters or more than that.

DataSource Controls :: Excluding Zero Numbers From The Query?

Jan 4, 2010

Is there any way, I can exclude the whole row if one particular column has zero in it. I have this query

select first_name, last_name , employee_num, cubeNumber, extension

from tblData left join tblfacility
ON tblData.employee_num = tblfacilit.employee_num
left join tblextension ext
on tblData.extension = ext.extension

tablExtension has phone number extension in it. If we don't know someones phone extension, we put zero for their extension, now there are tons of people who have zero extension.when I run this query, it returns same name lot of times with different cubeNumber so I get

Fisrt_name last_name employeenum cubeNumbae extension

a ax 1 12 0
a ax 1 13 0
a ax 1 14 0
b bx 2 12 0
b bx 2 13 0
b bx 2 14 0

Both emploee a and employee b extensions are zero in above case. I want both a and b to be displayed only once .Right now it is displaying them so many times with all the cubesNumber that have extension zero.

DataSource Controls :: Unique Numbers For Pulling Data?

Feb 3, 2010

I currently designed a school result portal. If the students want to view their result, they input their student school number in a text box to search out their result. But this is not secured because anybody can look up any students result if you have the number which is even written on their school uniform for identification.

I have being trying to secure this result by trying to generate or code special numbers that the students will input with their school number. The special numbers will be random numbers and may be from 10 and above, it might even contain letters. How do
I code this. I believe this is the best asp.net forum. I want the students to be inputing this special unique numbers and their student numbers so that there result will be avaliable to them.

DataSource Controls :: Insert Sequential Numbers Into A Primary Key Column Using A Script?

Jan 29, 2010

I need to insert multiple records using a script.

My table is

Region
(
ID int,
Name varchar(50),
Description varchar(51)
)

One thing I can use is to retrieve the max(ID) from region and store it in a variable and increment the variable sequentially and insert. But, if any other user inserts a record while I am executing this script then max(id) might clash with the id inserted with other user causing my script to fail.

Is there any other option to insert record sequentially base on the highest number in the table.

Is The Session Timeout Handled When Set SQL Server As State Handler

Apr 4, 2011

How, or maybe where, is the session timeout handled when you set SQL Server as state handler in an ASP.NET application?

Is it the .NET framwork who after loading session objects from the DB does a judgement on whether or not the objects are expired, or is it a job on the SQL Server itself that takes care of this? The reason I suspect (or even concidered) the latter possibility, is that the script that created the ASPState mentioned something about a ASPState_Job_DeleteExpiredSessions-element.

If it is so that it is an SQL Server job that cleans up, how often does this job trigger and how does it align with the timeout parameter in web.config?

Are there any tricks for getting rid of this error? The long query is required for this program. Will I need to build a new table before the query runs?

Merge The Records From The Database On The Local Machine With The Records On The Remote Server?

Mar 31, 2010

The website is over half way done and the functionality for the blog is (except for adding posts) is already implemented and working correctlyI have a SQLExpress 2008 backendBlog posts are rendered on the page with full HTML markup within a label control.

All of the above is done and working. Though I am essentially new to creating websites with ASP.NET, CSS and SQL, I am sure that I could simply carry on and make a login page with some controls that would allow me to add records (blog posts) directly to the database on the host server. However, I am fearful of doing this because I know that malicious code can be passed in this way. Also, because of my lack of knowledge, the only way that I know of to pass the code from a control to the database is to disable validation for the page the control is on. Without a doubt I do not want to do that.

So what are my options for getting blog posts into the database? Is it safest for me to fully create the post in html and update a copy of the database that resides on my local machine? If I do it this way, how can I merge the records from the database on the local machine with the records on the remote server?

DataSource Controls :: Loop Through The Records Of A Table?

Mar 19, 2010

im learning t-sql, infact i needed its while-loop to loop through records of a table, i found this code in some book:

[Code]....

i understand here that setting the rowcount variable to 1 will force the select statements to return only one record, do all above select statements return one record only?

if the underlined select statement returns one record everytime it is executed, isn't it supposed to return the same first record of the table everytime? is there a better way to loop through a table's records?

DataSource Controls :: Trying To Query Records From A Db Using A Date

Apr 14, 2010

I'm trying to query records from a db using a date. But somehow the db doesn't return records.

The datetime collums have the data stored in this format in the db as datetime :

12-Apr-10 12:45:12 AM
The string a have available is in this format : 12-Apr-10

I need to somehow strip the time part of so i can use my date string in the query.

When i use the below method the database converts the datetime to a rounded date (12-Apr-10 12:00:00 AM).
But when i query for that date i still get no results.

I tried this:

SELECT ID, PerformedBy, SystemId, ServerId, CAST(FLOOR(CAST(CreateDateTime AS FLOAT)) AS DATETIME) AS Expr1, Reason, Action, Summary, EnteredBy,
Collumn1, Collumn2
FROM Changes
WHERE ('Expr1 = '12-Apr-10 12:00:00 AM')

But this way the Expr1 collumn is not recognized.

DataSource Controls :: Inserting Repetitive Records?

Mar 30, 2010

What is the best method in T-SQL 2008 for extending a table's records with the criteria of 'repeating' all fields but the Primary KEY e.g. Consecutive Date for the previous n Records.

So you have for example 7 records (Easy...2 Fields. Date and nvarchar) with th Date runing from Jan-01 to Jan-07

We want to extend the table by 21 records...so

Record 1,8,15,22 will look identical apart from the DateField.

Record 2,9,16,23 will look identical apart from the DateField. etc...etc..

I have tried a number of methods ...all coming up short....
