I am trying to do something I thought would be simple but something isn't working for me.
I have a DataTable that I need to sort by a price ascending, then select an 'nth' row value. The 'nth' value is the row count/10.

What happens is I get the "nth" value from the original tblDeals.
I have one gridview and i want to take all the values in a datatable or dataview.
I tried like this
DataTable gridTable = (DataTable) dataGrid1.DataSource;
but gridTable is showing null, it should not show null because gridview has lot of records with 3 columns
Is there any way i can convert/store a gridview.Datasource records in a datatable or dataview?
I have a DataSet comprised of two DataTables. One of the DataTables is further comprised of the results of two different SQL calls. I need to alphabetize the results of those SQL calls. After the seconds set of results is added to the DataTable I tried the following but the end result (displayed on the page) did not alphabetize the returned results. There was no error. Can anyone advise me please. 'programs' is the DataTable name, title is the column name.

but the issue comes when the i try to sort the Date Column, the dates are in MM/DD/YYYY format, so if i try to sort the date column, the dates are sorted on month basis, rather than year basis. now i cant change the date format, is there any way to sort dates in DataView?

I have a need to call Oracle stored procs to populate a gridview. I'm able to call one stored proc to get the column header text and another one to get the corresponding data. Currently I'm using a datareader, but I want my gridview to have sorting and paging enabled, so likely I'll need to read the data into a datatable and then bind the gridview to it.I've never had to manually configure a gridview - usually just use autoformatting.1. I have a page which lists all the files in a particular folder (all PDFs), using a data-table and gridview.
I'm currently sorting this table by the filename (by using a dataview), which isn't that helpful, and I want the gridview of files sorted by the file created or file modified date (as recorded in Windows).
If that's not possible, a second option would be to extract the date from the file name string (no problem doing that), and sort the dataview/datatable or gridview based on that. Example Filename: DailySalesReport-1-15-2010. My only hangup with this is how do I sort on date, when it's a string value? Convert to date? How would I sort the whole dataset based on this converted value?

i have two sqldatasource controls. one i use to display data in textbox's ,filter'd by a select parameter in page behind code. Once checked, i want to copy this data to the other datasource ,by selecting checkbox.Then display this data in detailsview control.
At present the two datasource controls declared , render data to the page simultaneously during pageload. I want to first check data in textbox's from first source, before second datasource is rendered to screen. note, both are filtered by a page variable. i wish to leave the textbox datasource control in situ, as other controls and code depend on it.The other detailsview datasource is my problem?

I have a dataview on a page. I am binding a list of Items, and each item has a Person object. So I get this exception "field not found in selected datasource" when I try to bind to any property on the person object.

It appears that the dataview is having problems with the person object because it will display all the properties for the Item correctly.
