DataSource Controls :: Stored Procedure With Multiple Result Sets - Binding To Gridview?
Feb 3, 2011
I am using a sql stored procedure which returns multiple result sets. By default Sql Datasource is binding the first result set to gridview. I want the second result set to be binded. I browsed all the properties in Sql datasource but could not find one to set this.
Just after some advice I have a stored procedure that returns several tables. I then need to loop through the tables and create dynamic gridviews using the data. At the moment this stored proc is called using
[Code]....
I have used an xsd file to populate everthing else, but due to this returning multiple tables i wasn't sure how this works should it just be in its own xsd? as all the oather i just get a datatable where as with this i need a dataset... how this makes sense...
Would it be better to have a sp return multiple result sets and use NextResult() or have subsequent call to dr.execute.... () and hadle one result at a time?
To me using nextResult() on a multiresult datareader would be cleaner and easier - but it does not seem to be very "atomized". I guess I am wondering can the cost of executing multiple commands be neglected? Seems like executing multiple commands and receiving a single result set would also be easier to read/test/understand.
I'm programming a webpage in ASP.NET which displays a list of students not listed as participants in something, and upon clicking a student name shows you a brief summary of their details, so the user can ensure they're selecting the right person. Each student is identified by a unique ID.
My code currently correctly obtains their ID, adds it as a parameter to my stored procedure and executes the procedure;
[Code]....
However, when I try to access the results, with say dv.Table.Rows[0], I get the following error:
[Code]....
Upon debugging, there don't seem to be any results returned... when running just the stored procedure in SQL Server with the same data, it does return a single row, as expected.
I am bulding a dvd catalog and have a table called DVD which holds all my details about each dvd except Genre, Director and Actor as I want more than 1 Genre, Director, Actor per DVD so put these in seperate tables to avoid repeating the data and used a joining tabe to join the tables so the tables I have are
DVD, Genre, Director, Actor, DVDGenre, DVDDirector and DVDActor
I have now written a stored procedure to pull the info about 1 DVD out of all the tables to display on the webpage I have now got the info I want out of the tables but as the data is now in 1 table I have repeating data is there a way to stop the data repeating the stored procedure i have written is
I have a table that contains a date column along with others. I need to extract two sets of data from this table for two different time periods. Call them Current and Previous, so that I can compare them line for line. There are exactly the same number of days in both time periods.
The problem is that I need to return the data like this:
I had requirement that i need to display four charts in one report. The data for the report is given through stored procedure. In this stored procedure each chart have its own result set. ie., the Stored Procedure is returning four result sets.
Is it possible to return multiple values from a stored procedure? Basically, if I execute the stored proc on the C# side, then on the SQL side I do multiple calculations. Let's say I have 5 int values I need returned to the C# side.
basically i have two dropdown boxes to filter data and textbox with stored procedure bound to gridview.i want to be able to query data depending on the selected value passed, either using one or more parameter values.
i would like seperate sqlcommands to chose from depending on which controls i select to pass parameters.
i have included a parameter Select(control id) as this is declared by the wizard for stored procedure.
but i am not sure how it is defined on the page and passed to procedure.
Is it possible to add multiple select statements in a single stored procedure. The select statements are getting data from different tables. If yes, could anybody provide an example in adding multiple select statements, which retrieve data from different tables in a stored procedure.
I have few textboxes and I want to search the text (partial search is also required) in the database and then show the result in a telerik grid. The grid has to be hidden initially and when I click the search button it should show up and display the results.
Initially, I have tried to use stored procedure. But I changed my mind and preferred to call sql query in codebase with command text. However, it stills tries to find initially-called stored procedure (which is neither called or exists).I think that it is related caching. But I tried it with different browsers it did not work. What might be the reason?
I am using 3 web controls ,two are cascading dropdownlists used to filter gridview control bound to a datasource.
My question is , How to define multiple queries in stored procedure that takes parameter values from the controls declared using sqldatasource. Also, return all data when i set default control value to say 'null'.
NB: one paramaterised query for cascading dropdownlists and another for other control.
I have a complicated report that nests six deep and so really hits the database hard. I want to use SqlDataReaders NOT DataAdapters and DataSets because I don't want big tables in memory.
MARS can get me the data fast, all from the one connection. But all the examples show it binding to a treeview.
I want to bind it to nested GridViews (six deep!).
Any examples of MARS binding to nested gridview/list/repeater controls of any kind?
am having trouble figuring this one out. Am using stored procedure and using databind for the gridview . i got the codes off other sites. I'm guessing its the code that i've underlined, how or what do i use as the datasource for the sorting event. I used the Session for the paging event and that works but not for sorting.
When i bind gridview to stored procedure what i found it only shows data after enabling Autogeneratecolumns and it also doesnot show any column in boundedfield. Due to which i am unable to apply formating to individual column according to my requirement. One possible reason may be table is created in stored procedure due to which it generate fields at run time.
I am trying to return single string result through a stored procedure and Linq. This works fine when I test the stored procedure but it is not returning the value to the page. The value returned is always 0 which is the return value. This is the stored procedure:
ALTER PROCEDURE Login @CustomerName nvarchar(50), @Password nvarchar(50) output As Select @Password=Password From Customers Where Customers.CustomerName=@CustomerName
This is the vb ALTER PROCEDURE Login @CustomerName nvarchar(50), @Password nvarchar(50) output As Select @Password=Password From Customers Where Customers.CustomerName=@CustomerName is the code created by the designer
This is the designer function <FunctionAttribute(Name:="dbo.Login")> _ Public Function Login(<Parameter(Name:="CustomerName", DbType:="NVarChar(50)")> ByVal customerName
As String, <Parameter(Name:="Password", DbType:="NVarChar(50)")> ByRef password As String) As IntegerDim result As IExecuteResult = Me.ExecuteMethodCall(Me, CType(MethodInfo.GetCurrentMethod,MethodInfo), customerName, password) password = CType(result.GetParameterValue(1),String) End Function
I started learning LINQ, So i thought of just creating gridview with sorting and paging using objectdatasource using LINQ. So i got this link
[URL] which Brian Orrel tell us how to do using IQueryable Interface. but i have nearly 300 lines of stored procedure which joins nearly 20 tables. so i thought of creating a stored procedure and using that instead of IQuerytable.
