DataSource Controls :: Strings And Commmand Text?

Apr 10, 2010

I'm writing a sql query for my database, that goes:

comn.CommandText= "INSERT INTO tb1 VALUES(' " + textbox1.text.tostring() + " ',' " + textbox2.text.tostring() + " ' )";

Which works great until one of the characters in one of the textboxes is ' (apostrophe).

Data Controls :: Display Long Text Strings In GridView Columns

Apr 7, 2014

In my website, there is a page called "SMS Log"It contains a GridView, in which there are 5 columns:

1) SMS sent time
2) SMS Text
3) Recipients
4) status
5) Button (view detail) since, "SMS Text" is large and "Recipients" are more than 1.

So Gridview looks very conjusted, also it does not look good.Is there any other control I can use other than Gridview to show above 5 columns in a well organized way.

DataSource Controls :: ReadOnly DB Connection Strings

Jan 14, 2010

This seems like a really silly question, but I've had a search around and I can't find anything about this. I've got a DB connection string that I'm creating in my web.config:-

[Code]....

and

[Code]....

but I need this connection to be read only. I've defined all my linq objects with only gets on their properties, and none of my (MVC) repository classes have .SubmitChanges() methods in them so I'm 99% sure the system can't update this DB, but I would also like to set my DB connection to be RO if at all possible. I realise that ideally this should be done at the SQL server end and the user should be made RO, but that (for various reasons, out of my control) can't be done, so I wanted to lock down my connection as the app mustn't write to the DB.

Is there a "readonly" parameter I can apply to the connection string so that it would throw an error or discard the data if any updates were attempted?

DataSource Controls :: Retrieving Strings From Database Table Instead DateTime - Formatting

Mar 23, 2010

On UI Ajax calendar control is used to allow the user Expiry Date as shown below. As this is one of the controls in search, when the Search button is pressed using SQL statement (copied below) data is retrieved from ExpiryDate column of the table. The table creator declared the column type as string and the dates are saved as single digits(Example: 2/2/10 sometimes and sometime as double digits (Example: 02/02/10) I like to know the best practice in retrieving both type of strings from database table. DataSource Controls :: Entity Framework - Send The Values To Be Inserted As Strings To The DAL?

Feb 5, 2010

I've sucefully created a method to insert values through EF, but i've a question (maybe, a newbie question).

Should i send the values to be inserted as strings to the DAL, and then i create the object there or should i create the object in View Layer and then send him to DAL?

Example 1 (DAL):

[Code]....

Example 1 (View Layer, on a click button for example):

[Code]....

Or should i receive the strings in DAL like this: public bool NoticiasInsert(string tituloPT, string tituloEN, string descricaoPT, string descricaoEN)

Then i create the object cdcModel.noticias and set the fields there with the strings values.

What do you advice me to do? I know that both ways works, but i'm trying to develope with better patterns (i don't know if this is the exacly word, sorry my bad english)

cdcModel.noticias campos = new cdcModel.noticias();
campos.tituloPT = "a";
campos.tituloEN = "b";
campos.descricaoPT = "a";
campos.descricaoEN = "a";
if (DAL.NoticiasInsert(campos)

DataSource Controls :: Microsoft Matrix Framework DataGrid - Update Command - Convert Empty Strings To NULL?

Sep 30, 2010

we have a AutoGenerateColumns-enabled WmxDataGrid in which we are able to update table rows in a DataBase connected with a SqlDataSource.

Each time we clear a field an empty string is written to the database where we want to write DBNull values.

At the moment we generate the update string via UPDATE... SET.. and the SQL Server function NULLIF(value, '').

Works proper but when I want to add the values to e.NewValues in BeginUpdate event I'm not able to read the values from the auto generated text boxes. How do I do that? Is there an easier way to automatically convert empty strings to NULL values?

Possible To Populate Text Box With A List Of Strings In Page Load?

Apr 4, 2013

I found that I don't need to use jQuery or AjaxToolKit to use a textbox with autocomplete instead using the AutoCompleteType() class.However, base in the documentation it says the autocomplete will just trigger after the button was click at first instance, with that
description looks like what I want to do will not be applicable.Is it possible to populate the textbox with a list of strings in page load? so that if I type in a textbox it will give me a complete list of strings already.
