I want to export the table and all the data to a file outside the db. Then I want to detach this db, attach a different db with the same table, and reimport the table data from the file.
I thought you could create a table with :
select *
into table IN externaldb
from table
What is the proper syntax for this? I got an invalid path error. I just want to create the file on mu local C root.

i have two sqldatasource controls. one i use to display data in textbox's ,filter'd by a select parameter in page behind code. Once checked, i want to copy this data to the other datasource ,by selecting checkbox.Then display this data in detailsview control.
At present the two datasource controls declared , render data to the page simultaneously during pageload. I want to first check data in textbox's from first source, before second datasource is rendered to screen. note, both are filtered by a page variable. i wish to leave the textbox datasource control in situ, as other controls and code depend on it.The other detailsview datasource is my problem?

In my XML file I have both existing rows and new rows for the database table. I'm guessing I have to do something to sort out the the rows that are not already in the database, but so far I have been unsuccessful to figure this out.

View 3 RepliesI have an aspx webpage with a databound DropDownList and a databound GridView control. The GridView datasource is using a WHERE clause to return its' data. I.e. The user selects a work area from the DropDownList and members of that area appear in the Gridview. The GridView has 3 columns, WrkArea, LastName and FirstName. The page also has a Button.
What I am trying to accomplish is when the user clicks the Button, the data from the GridView is copied to a separate SQL table. I am working in VB. I have been looking at other posts but have to admit, I am really confused.

When I click the link I need to go into a database and update a column that they clicked the link then I need to open the file. by usinga HyperLinkField I am able to put in the link that I want to go to and when the page is running I can click on the link and it goes to the page and everything works fine except for being able to update the database part.

I tried using a ButtonField where in the code behind in the GridView1_RowCommand I pull out the file path and put it into a response write statement the problem I'm having with it is that when it opens the file it removes all the ""s so I get the error file cannot be found.
