i use 2 dropdownlist with 2 object data source first dropdownlist to display departments name using object datasource (field to display DeptName , value of field DeptID)
second dropdownlist to display Employee name but depend on departments (field to display EmpName , value of field EmpID)
how to display employee name in dropdownlist depend on departments name in the other dropdownlist
2 tables
1 table deprtments with column (DeptID , DeptName , DeptDescription)
2 table Employee with column (EmpID , DeptID , EmpName)

I want to bind data(For ex: Employee name, Employee ID from Employee) to a dropdownlist and the data should be displayed in dropdownlist as two columns. I don't want to separate this columns by using any special characters like | or '-'. I want to display them as different columns in a dropdownlist.

I have two pages manager and user both have drop downs asÂ
Week, Months and Years.
User have to enter some data week wise for each months and Manager have to approve that.
To Approve manager select months and week from dropdown on his own page and then navigate to User page.
How does I should bind the drop down so that if manager select 1st week from it's page and goes to view link of user then in drop down of user selected value shold be the same as selected by Manager on his own page.

I am having two dropdownlist in my project,one dropdownlist for empid, another dropdownlist for month, if the user select the empid, the values are retrieved in the textbox.
In the second dropdownlist, if the user select the month in the dropdownlist it will display the leave details, its all working fine, if the user again select the first dropdownlist that means empid, I want to show the second dropdownlist as select month, how can do this.....

I have a table and 7 column name.
I bind the 7 column name in one dropdownlist.
Now the problem is,how do I extract the data value in a dropdownlist?
For example,
Dropdownlist contain 7 column name
-subject_name
-subject_code
-venue
-time
-seat_no
-admission_no
-subject_id
when I click the subject_name,I want it to appear in a gridview

I have a problem with binding a DropDownList. Let's assume a database five years old with many historical records. In order to enable just working with active data every datasource has a column hidden which is occasionally set by administrator in order to clean up old records. The selection looks like
1) SELECT Id, Value FROM Table WHERE Hidden = 0
The issue arises when the user opens a form with old data. As some records in DropDownListhave have already been hidden an exception is raised as the component cannot find the data for the list. For this case the following selection is valid
2) SELECT Id, Value FROM Table
it is possible to combine these two selection queries? The display value should always use query 2 while the listed values should use the query 1.

Within my web application the users complete a application which stores all of their company details into a database, within the application their is a section to complete details for all of their employees.
The admin has the ability to view each company's application in full for reference, now I want to display the employee details on a sperate web page using the GridView control. Unfortunately when creating a datasource for the GridView I am unable to use a varible (currentCompanyId) to pass the employee's companys id into the query to display the correct employee's for the correct application.
Does anybody know another apporach to this? Or maybe there is a better way to do this altogether?

I'm using a SP to fill the drop down list and when I look at the values in the drop down list the first row of the dataset is missing.Here's the code I'm using, I've left out the database connection info and the link to the SP

Trying to add another 2nd dropdownlist to Query String... Below This Query String works Perfectly:

My application includes a gridview control with and Edit mode which allows users to do selections using cascading dropdownlist. My code is based on tutorial by Brian Orrell (link below). I am able to statically populate the dropdownlist but in my case I need to populate it dynamically based on a previous selection of a dropdownlist, I would like to do it programatically so I can manipulate data.

I'm having trouble linking a form view I have on a web page with a drop down list on the same page. Basically, what I need to happen is whenever a new selection is chosen from the drop down list, the details in the form view should also change to represent that selection's criteria.
I have my drop down list connected to SQLDataSource1 and my form view to SQLDataSource2, and these are populating as expected, it's just the problem lies when changing the selection in the drop down list - the form view doesn't follow what is selected.
does anything have to be added in the properties options of either the data source controls or the form view? For example, in the "Events" section, there is a "DataBinding" and "DataBound" selection item that can be used - should anything be entered in this to connect the two?

My database has 4 colums;
TraditionalID-------------TraditionalName------------Singles-----------Suppers
Singles and suppers are money fields for the price of same item. A bit like the price of a Small, Medium or Large item. What I would like to do is display the 'Singles' price and 'Suppers' price in seperate listitems so the user can choose 1 of them.
GridView:
Traditional Name__________Size
Chicken-------------------[DROPDOWNLIST]
DropDownList:
Price of Single is: £1.50
Price of Supper is: £2.50
My page loads up with the correct items in TraditionalName colum but the DropDownList is completely empty. I'm aware I don't have anything in for DataValueField and DataTextField but I have tried putting things in these attributes, like Suppers and Singles, but nothing works, so I have taken them out below.
