im learning t-sql, infact i needed its while-loop to loop through records of a table, i found this code in some book:
[Code]....
i understand here that setting the rowcount variable to 1 will force the select statements to return only one record, do all above select statements return one record only?
if the underlined select statement returns one record everytime it is executed, isn't it supposed to return the same first record of the table everytime? is there a better way to loop through a table's records?
I have a datagrid control which is bound to a table which containing more than 1000 records. And i want to show only 25 records once a time. I have used paging in datagrid. But each time the next page index is set, query is fired again. This takes lots of time. So what is the easiest way to bound data in this case to improve performance.
I am using Linq to SQL. I have a table with a uniqueidentifyer column.
I need to insert 1000 records, each with all the same values except for the uniqueid field.
I know the syntax to insert a single record for example where dc is a DataContext():
[Code]....
Does anyone know how if there is a way, other than looping 1000 times, to tell SQL to insert 1000 records generating different unique ids but assign the constant values to the other columns?
I have a data grid in which I have to display around 12,000 records. Even if I do paging it is difficult to display all the records. Is there any other control or something else so that I can display all these records. Even if I make these as alphabetical also, some times I have to load 1000 records in a page which is difficult.
i am using sql server inbuilt mail system for sending mail.and i made SP to call dbmail sp
now my problem is when i call sp it get executed fine but in last suppose 1000 mails queued then 1000 times i get mail queued.and that my connection time out .i extend connection time out limit but i get error msg like
"Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. Mail queued."
my mail get queued well proper but due to 1000 or 100000 mail queued its lost of msg make problem.
basically, the InstellingGegevens table gest filled in by some procedure from another server. the thing i then need to do is check if there are new records in this table, and fill in the new ones in Instellingens.
this code runs for like 4 minutes on 15k records. how do I optimize it? or is the only way a Stored Procedure?
this code runs in a timer, running every 6h. IF a stored procedure is best, how to I use that in a timer?
I am building a small mass email application for my department. Which basically emails out a notice to a large list of email addresses. Because the company email server limits the amount of email addresses that can be contained in a single email I have to break the list apart into smaller 100 email groups.
I've create the query to pull all email addresses needed, stuffed them into a collection but I am not sure how to grab 100 emails at a time and send it off to another sub to perform the email send before grabbing the next 100.
i need to query a table which normally will return multiple records for the id and I need to loop through probably using a cursor and pull values out from each record to make a string.
what is the syntax for this? i've seen cursors using a set number (EX: loop through 5 times) but I need to create a query so that I can loop through once for each row returned from my query.
iam working with gridview in asp.net3.5,Sqlserver2008 I am retrieving data from a SP into a datatable.i need to store this table into gridview. but am getting the last row from my datatable into my gridview.
So far I have the following code but it doesn't generate the menu?
While reader.Read() ' set title sitetitle = reader.Item("siteName") mydata &= reader.Item("pagetitle") ' check subtitle exists, if so, build menu, loop though subtitles somehow? if not IsDBNull(reader.Item("subtitle")) mydata = "<ul>" mydata &= "<li>" & reader.Item("subtitle") & "</li>" mydata &= "</ul>" end if End while
Qeury and result set below:
sql:
SELECT subpages.subpageid, pages.pageid, sites.sitename, sites.siteid, pages.siteid,pages.pagetitle, subPages.subtitle FROM pages LEFT JOIN sites ON pages.siteid = sites.siteid LEFT JOIN subpages ON subpages.subpageid= pages.pageid WHERE sites.siteID = 1 ORDER BY sites.siteid, pages.pageid, subpages.subpageid ASC
results:

I'm trying to delete a bunch of records in mysql. The record info to delete (userid, name) is stored in an arraylist. It seems to only delete the first record and gives an error ("Transaction has already been rolled back or is not pending.") afterwards. I have the transaction commit inside the loop which I think is the issue but not sure how to go further if I bring it outside of the loop. Here's the relevant bits of the code.
try { ArrayList alist = new ArrayList(); //alist gets populated with data like (12345,robot)(23456,car) here. MySqlConnection conn2 = new MySqlConnection(query_connection); conn2.Open(); MySqlCommand command2 = conn2.CreateCommand(); MySqlTransaction mytransaction; mytransaction = conn2.BeginTransaction(); command2.Transaction = mytransaction; for (int i = 0; i < alist.Count; i++) { string[] s = alist[i].ToString().Split(','); try { command2.CommandText = "DELETE from users_settings WHERE UserID=" + s[0].ToString(); command2.ExecuteNonQuery(); command2.CommandText = "DELETE from users WHERE ID=" + s[0].ToString(); command2.ExecuteNonQuery(); mytransaction.Commit(); } catch (Exception e){ mytransaction.Rollback(); } } } catch(Exception e){ }
Say for example, I have script like below whereby everything is same except the table name and each table name will append an incremental number, is it possible for me to have a for loop to dynamically add the incremental number?
My original code was in classic vb. and could use redim array to resize them. I was porting the code to c# now and lately i have run into an issue to resize a 2 dimensional array. The thing here is I have a 2 dimensional array whose 2nd dimension needs to be increased dynamically as needed to accommodate the data. For say
String[,] ary1=new String[2,10];
I'm doing some operation in a loop and filling in the data in ary1. And if the loop still continues, on reaching the ary1 upper bound i need to increase the size further to accommodate 10 more rows. I tried couple of ways to copy it to a bigger array and assign it back to the current array. but somehow dint work.
Here is my code, using LinQ to get the data from database.
public IEnumerable categoryData() { db = new DBModelDataContext(); var cat = from c in db.Categories select new { c.categoryname,c.categoryid }; return cat; }
trying to get the values (categoryname and categoryid) into textfiled and valuefield of dropdown list.
dt = new clsData(); ddlCategory.DataSource = dt.categoryData();
what is the code that i need to write to assign the categoryname to textfield and categoryid to valuefield. I mean how to loop through the values coming from the above function.
select AutoIdx,TxDate,Id,AccountLink,Description,Debit,Credit,(Debit-Credit) as Actual from PostGL where Id='JL' and AccountLink=2
AutoIdx TxDate Id AccountLink Description Debit Credit Actual 3 2010-01-22 JL 2 bcb 0 35.09 -35.09 5 2010-01-28 JL 2 g 3.51 0 3.51
I am trying in view like this
declare @cnt int declare @i int set @budget=20 set @cnt= (select COUNT(*) from PostGL where AccountLink=2 ) set @i=1 WHILE (@i<=@cnt ) BEGIN set @tdebit=??
END
I am taking count the no of rows having AccountLink=2 I need to read all debit,credit and add all debit into totaldebit,all credit into totalcredit independently from table. then i need to show the totaldiff as Actual. i need ....totaldiff=totaldebit-totalcredit
I'm currently trying to build a html table from the results of a sql data reader. As my table has multiple records, I want the code to loop through the reader and output the details on individual lines of the page. In ASP I have done this in the past using something like
[Code]....
but as I am using data readers I'm not sure what the equivalent is.
