Databases :: How To Get Profile Providers Working With DSN
Mar 12, 2010
I can't get my profile providers (supported databases are SQL Server and MySQL) working if I use DSN in connectionstrings like "dsn=dsnName;User ID=userif;Password=psw;". Profiles are working fine with "normal" connectionstrings.
I'm trying to update/create the user profile for a specific user that will not be the logged on user of the moment. I'm able to do this with the following code:
'Dim p As ProfileBase = ProfileBase.Create(Email, False)
I'm trying to use both the default Membership and Profile Providers and can not for the life of me get both to work at the same time. I'm using MS Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and when I create a new Project I get access to the Membership but not the Profile. When I create a new Website I get just the opposite i.e. access to Profile and not Membership. What do I need to do to get access to both?
I am using asp.net 3.5 and Oracle Providers for membership and roles. Now, using CreateUserWizard i can make user register here but for storing custom information like First name, last name, address etc. i am using couple of custom oracle tables instead of Oracle Profile Provider. In this case, i am using the USERID field which is of GUID type as primary key. Now, my problem is that i dont know how to draw information from my custom oracle tables for those users who are currently logged in. I have searched a lot in this forum and elsewhere where there are many topics relating to it but i failed to follow any of them. So, i would request you to kindly guide me to solve the issue. Oracle Membership
Table(ORA_ASPNET_USERS) USERID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx(some guid value) Username=abc and so on.. My Custom Table(UserProfile): USERID RAW(16), --> referenced to USERID field of ORA_ASPNET_USERS table fname varchar2(20) lname varchar2(20) I've the profiles of username "abc" having some userid stored in Userprofile table So, how can i fetch data from UserProfile table for the user "abc" when he is logged in?
i help save image as picture in sql databases for consumer profile now i possess a site that sow consumer profile facts an im this site i possess a picture manage to display consumer avatar with. in code at the rear of with Userprofile.Avatar code i obtained the picture as byte
1) I am making use of Profile class in my application, and using System.Web namespace, but intellisense is not able to recognize it. But when I make use of System.Web.Profile, it is working properly. What is the reason of this?
2) System.Web.Profile is not able to recognize IsAnonymous property, why is it not recognizing?
i'm working in visual studio 2005 asp.net c#.i'm trying to learn about profile feature ... and it seems easy to use it but i have some questions ...i red some articles and tutorials about the profile feature but i dont understand where all the details that you store are stored ?in database ? xml file ?
i didnt try it yet but it seems logical to me that when you define properties in the web.config its creating tables in the database with the names you named the properties like : <profile > <properties> <add[code]....
then it will creat in the database "name" and äge" fields ? is that right ? .... if yes , where is the definition of the connection with the database ?if not, how does it work ? i know that the <connectionString> in the web config connect the database that i want to use and creat it tables. for the login and creat user .does the profile use the connection string and work with the database to !?
We moved our website from one production server to another production server. DNS propagation is not an issue here. Some users cannot login now and others can. Those that can login do not see the same menu items that they used to see prior to the move. It's like the profile provider is not working. I checked the web.config file and everything appears to be the same as it was before. Is there something else I forgot to move?
I thought I would try this forum first, but it may be an ASP.NET general question.
I have setup profile in a web.config like the following:
[Code]....
However when I try and reference the profile in a code behind using the "Profile.blah-balh" the intellisense does not pick up the elements I have defined in the web.config.
Intellisense is generally working and does sport the Profile() starting point when typed.
I am trying to use: [URL] I have downloaded the converted to VB files and inserted them in my app_code folder. I created the SQL table and ran both SQL stored procedures Now for the web.config, I already have a connection to my database for the aspnet memberships since I have it on my own database, so I used that for the connection and I did this:
[Code]....
But I get run time errors when I try to set a profile. The error I get is in the SqlTableProfileProvider.vb and it says "Incorrect syntax near ','." Which is really not enough information but that is all what it gives me
I got the login to work fine- go to [URL]if you want to give it a try. Here is the thing. The profile functionality doesn't work. It draws from the same set of files, it used the same connection string as the users, it work on my local machine, but blows up on GoDaddy because it cannot find the file, and when it tries to create it. The file it uses for the profile, aspnet_Profiles, is on there along with the rest of the membership files. The connection string is not defined individually. Why is it finding the user files, but not the profile file.
I am using profile services to store some attributes of users registered in the website. Now I am making a display profile page for a user. The problem is that the profile loads easily when I am running the site from VS 2010, but it gives the following error when I run it from IIS7 on my local machine:
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I am logged in as user1, and while creating a user in which I have additional information which would store first and last name into the profile database. I have the following code
[Code]....
But because I just have profile like that, it is updating the profile of user1 not the new user i just created
I have a project using vb.net with mySql and mySql.Data.dll as a link to the database. Now when I test my website from local computer and with live server connection string all works fine. The thing is, when I upload my files to the server, it gives me an error Object reference not set to an instance of an object.I have copied the mySql.data.dll file to the bin folder of my domain and the query that gives the error is a basic insert statement that works from the local machine to the live database.
We have an Oracle 11g database with two nodes. On occasion, one of the nodes goes down and for some reason one of my applications starts throwing this exception:
Error Message: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached. at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleConnectionPoolManager.GetPooledConnection(String encryptedConnectionString, OracleConnectionString options, OracleConnection owningObject, Boolean& isInTransaction) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleConnection.OpenInternal(OracleConnectionString parsedConnectionString, Object transact) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleConnection.Open() Out IT group says that this is a program bug because the failover isn't working, but I am thinking that this is a function of the database. What is the cause, and if it is an application bug, what can be done code-wise to fix this problem? The connection string doesn't specify a particular node.
I got the followig task.Create a website (Profile.aspx) in which the User can create and edit his profile.Well, I know how to write in a database, but how do I get the UserName oder the UserID to make a PrimaryKey?If the user is logged in a session will be started. In this session is the UserName but I don't know how to read out the UserName with ASP.NET to make an PrimaryKey. If I would try to read out the UserName with C# I must save it in an variable and give it somehow to my form.
Our site has got two ASP.NET membership providers. The built in one, and a custom one (SqlMembershipProvider.
I am able to log into both no problems, but I don't necessary require the ability to have both logged in at the same time.
The issue I have is as follows:
User "person_a@site.com" logs into the built in provider. They then navigate to the section of the site where we require the custom provider.
On this page, I can check if they are authenticated, and get their username. I can then get a MembershipUser object form the custom providers GetUser method. (HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name)
It is possible (and very likely) that the username "person_a@site.com" could also exist in the users for the custom provider.
But, I don't want them to be logged in here, as they haven't authenticated against the custom provider.
So, is it possible to check which proivider HttpContext.Current.User was generated from.
I have built two websites, both of them use a custom membership provider I have written myself.
One of these sites is already a long time online and runs fine. Now I have installed the other site on the same webserver in the same Web as a different application. Also have I given a seperate ApplicationPool for each solution.
If now the client logs on to one site, he looses the session on the other and vice versa. It's not possible to be loged on on both sites together. All the rest works fine.
What is the connection between the two sites. Is it necessary to change something in my membership providers?
There is the following design: the back-end implemented as WCF, the public front site and two intranet sites (all three talking to the back-end). I believe that authentication on the sites is not enough (i.e. passing ClientID to WCF in each request as a parameter) and i want to protect my back-end (WCF) with authentication to perform double-check and have PrincipalPermission on the methods with roles specified.
I'm sure that identity names from both providers do not cross (public logins are digits only and the intranet will be something like 'DOMAINLogin'). The front site uses forms auth and its provider returns GenericPrincipal. The intranet sites use Windows auth and i have WindowsPrincipal attached to Page.User.
Is it possible to configure WCF to use two membership providers (custom one that the front site uses and Windows) out of the box, without writing another custom code? Is it important how my WCF is hosted? Currently it's windows service. Do i need to switch to IIS 7?
I want to protect a section of my website using forms authentication with the username and password as defined by me in the web.config. When I attempt to login I get the message below.
Server Error in '/' Application.
Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'.
I'm guessing this is happening because it's attempting to use the Membership tables as defined by the LocalSqlServer connection string. I don't want to use the Membership features, how do I configure my web app to do that?
Will I need to write the Authenticate function myself for the in-built Login control?
I am trying to pass a textbox integer to a sql statement in my code behind using the "where" statement to filter what I get from the mysql database but for some reason, it diplays nothing. If I change the variable in the "where" statement to an actual digit between 1 and 12, it works.
