Directory.Move Command Does Not Inherit The NTFS Permission
Apr 30, 2010
In windows I have set two different NTFS permission for two different folder.
When I am moving a folder to another folder which has different NTFS permission, that folder inherits the destination folder's NTFS permissions.
But when i m using Directory.Move command in dot net then it does not inherit the destination folder's NTFS permission instead of it, it shows the source folder's NTFS permission.

I have an ASP.Net MVC app, and i have some xsl files inside of the Content directory.I've try a few methods to get directory dynamically buy keep on coming short.So how do i get the directory to point to the Content/xsl folder?the closest that i came to was with this:this.GetType().Assembly.CodeBase
which only returns the project DLL, but i can't figure out how to move up a few levels from there or what .net library to use to navigate around the path.there's no ../.. :(Basically i want to navigate to the Content/xsl folder which is at the same level of the Bin directory.

I have a virtual directory setup in one of my web apps that needs to not inherit the web.config of the main app so it can run on it's own. I am wondering how I can do this because right now when I hit it (mainwebapp.domain.com/virdir) it throws an error saying it can't find some dependencies that are listed in the main apps web.config (shows main app web.config in the error message), this virdir contains it's own little app that needs to just run standalone.
Here is the problem area:
[code]....
error is on line 145: "Could not load type 'Weborb.ORBHttpHandler'." (this is the parent web.config that it is showing the error in, which I do not want to modify)...
If I add <clear/> to the top of that same block in the child web.config then I get:
"No http handler was found for request type 'GET'"

I have a very simple and stupid problem but I'm unable to find a solution. I'm trying to create folders and files locally through my code, however I get a permission exception when I try to write in a folder in my application. Normally I'd run this on a remote server, and ask the system administrator for writing permission on this specific folder, but I need to run this locally for the moment.
If I navigate to the file in windows explorer, and right click the folder and click on Properties, I can see that it's set as Read Only. However when I try to disable this tickbox and click on Accept, nothing happens. It ignores me, and next time I open the Properties of this same folder, it's still marked as Read Only.
I've googled this and found a solution which implies using MS-DOS and a command named "attrib". This is not working for me either. I also read about adding an ASP.NET account on my PC and granting the right permissions to this, but I'm not sure how to do is.

I have a user located in the Users OU in AD (CN=Fred, OU=Users, DC=domain, DC=local) . I would like to move that user to the IRC OU (CN=Fred, OU=IRC, DC=domain, DC=local).
The approach I would like to use is something like:
Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim ValUserName As String = Request.QueryString("UserName")
Dim ValOU As String = ou.ddl.value [code]....
Plese DO NOT refer me to any of the following, (or any other link). I have been to them all... and then some. I would just appreciate a simple solution to my simple question.

For some reason I have a solution with a single project and the solution files are in the same directory as the project is. I consider this ugly and want to change it by moving the solution files in a superordinate directory.
For now I have edited a single line in the .sln file:
Project("{FAE04EC0-AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-00C04F79EFBC}") = "projectname", "projectname.csproj", "{5D5A753D-AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-C535851E8DC8}"
changed to
Project("{FAE04EC0-AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-00C04F79EFBC}") = "projectname", "directoryname/projectname.csproj", "{5D5A753D-AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-C535851E8DC8}"
It seems to work.
Could this have been all I needed to change? I have the feeling that I missed something.

I'm currently writing a website in ASP.NET MVC, and my database (which doesn't have any data in it yet, it only has the correct tables) uses SQL Server 2008, which I have installed on my development machine. I connect to the database out of my application by using the Server Explorer, followed by LINQ to SQL mapping.
Once I finish developing the site, I will move it over to my hosting service, which is a virtual hosting plan. I'm concerned about whether using the SQL Server setup that is currently working on my development machine will be hard to do on the production server, as I'll have to import all the database tables through the hosting control panel. I've noticed that it is possible to create a SQL Server database from inside Visual Studio. It is then stored in the App_Data directory.
Does it make sense to move my SQL Server DB out of SQL Server and into the App_Data directory as an .mdf file? If so, how can I move it? I believe this is called the Detach command, is it not? Are there any performance/security issues that can occur with a .mdf file like this? Would my intended setup work OK with a typical virtual hosting plan? I'm hoping that the .mdf database won't count against the limited number of SQL Server databases that can be created with my plan.

We have an already existing project on IIS and we want to move to Apache (windows) with mod_aspdotnet. What things could not work? If we use 3rd party DLLs? Will office components work fine (export to Excel, Word, etc). If you have any experience on this type of migration, I'd like your inputs! Also, is there another alternative to mod_aspdotnet?

I am working with odbcCommand class, in one case I got error that QueryTimeout Expired. Even though this SP is taking only 3-4 secs in DB to execute these specific values, When I set the CommandTimeout=0, then it worked fine.
1)Is it necessary to always use this property while working with Command Class.
2)If it is not suggested to use, but still if I use it then how it will impact the performance.
Below is my code sample.
OdbcConnection conObj;
OdbcCommand cmdObj;
OdbcDataAdapter daObj = new OdbcDataAdapter();
public DataTable GetIFAContractNoteData(string RecipientIDIFACN, DateTime BatchDateIFACN, int TransmittalReportIDIFACN) {
conObj = new OdbcConnection(GlobalVariables.strDsnName + ";" + GlobalVariables.strDsnDataBase + ";" + GlobalVariables.strDsnUserID + ";" + GlobalVariables.strDsnPassword);

I've recently started working in ASP.NET and RDBMS.I'm making a test form where I can do basic add,update,delete operations.I'm using OracleDataClient to do the DB operations.I was able to populate a listbox using OracleDataAdapter.
Now after clicking on update button,I intend to Update in DB.I've Dataadapter with it's update property.But the update query is not happening.The examples I saw over net all have Select command before Update.Is it actually like that or am I missing some point.
How does Oracle DataClient work with Insert,Update,Delete Commands.

I am using System.directory services namespace in framework 2 to query active directory. I have used fixed user account impersonisation in the web.config file, find the code:
<identity impersonate="true" userName="enterprise ang09" password="Telcome123"/>
<authentication mode="Windows"/>
I have disabled anonymous access in IIS. Also i have given Read & write access to the account tang09 for the website virtual directory and Microsoft.NET folder located in windows folder. But still i get prompted for the domain username and password to access the website.

SqlDataSource sq = new SqlDataSource();
sq.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["CustomerDatabaseConnectionString1"].ToString();
sq.SelectCommandType = SqlDataSourceCommandType.Text;
sq.SelectCommand = "SELECT * FROM CustomerTable where customerID = 1";
string result = sq.Select(some overload that's stopping me);

What method to override in order to be able to capture the data via a custom modelbinder. I noticed this article:http://www.singingeels.com/Articles/Model_Binders_in_ASPNET_MVC__Part_2.aspx and there GetValue is overridden but I don't see that in MVC 2. What must I do to be able to make this work?
