I've got a web site that has a master page and that master page (mpMaster that has a user control ucControl1) which has a sub user control (ucControl2), this user control has a property which accepts a value. Now, I have a page that uses the master page
and on this page I have another user control (ucPageControl), I need to find a way of setting the value in ucControl2 from ucPageControl. Is this possible at all?

I have created a gridview (this is a usercontrol) with another gridview (also a usercontrol) inside it. Now I would like to bind a checkboxlist to the inner gridview. This is my markup for the inner gridview user control

I have a user control (form) inside a user control (grid) with a Validator in the form. A snippet from the code is below
<asp:tablerow>
<asp:tablecell HorizontalAlign="center" columnspan="2" >
<asp:ValidationSummary runat="server" id="ValidationSummary1" />
[code]...
This code is identical to code in another user control where the parent is not a user control and that page works fine, but on this page the Validator doesn't fire and the Foo_ItemCommand method fires instead. I tried searching Google and StackOverFlow but haven't been able to find anything that helps.

I have a login control and at is nested 2 deep in a header control i.e Page --> Header Control --> Login Control. I cannot get a reference to the control on the page using FindControl. I want to be able to set the visible property of the control like

I am using a DetailsView control. I am trying to disable some bound controls programmatically.
e.g. The DetailsView control is displaying the member details.
What I am trying to accomplish is that:
- if the member is active, then the deceased date textbox field should be disabled
- if the memberstatus is changed from Active to Deceased, then the deceased date textbox field should be enabled

I don't think I understand fully how ASP.NET does inheritance of controls.I have a user control, ucBase, which has an asp.net label in the ascx file. Code behind references the label and it works fine during run time if the control is not a parent for another user parent.
If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically.What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?

I have a form that contains a number of user controls (partial views, as in System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl), each with their own view models, and some of those user controls have nested user controls within them. I intended to reuse these user controls so I built up the form using a hierarchy in this way and pass the form a parent view model that contains all the user controls' view models within it.For example:
Parent Page (with form and ParentViewModel)
-->ChildControl1 (uses ViewModel1 which is passed from ParentViewModel.ViewModel1 property)
-->ChildControl2 (uses ViewModel2 which is passed from ParentViewModel.ViewModel2 property)
-->ChildControl3 (uses ViewModel3 which is passed from ViewModel2.ViewModel3 property)
My question is how do I retrieve the view data when the form is submitted? It seems the view data cannot bind to the ParentViewModel:public string Save(ParentViewModel viewData)...
as viewData.ViewModel1 and viewData.ViewModel2 are always null. Is there a way I can perform a custom binding?
Ultimately I need the form to be able to cope with a dynamic number of user controls and perform an asynchronous submission without postback. I'll cross those bridges when I come to them but I mention it now so any answer won't preclude this functionality.

I've got a .aspx page which loads a user control using the LoadControl(string virtualPath) method. The loaded control contains references to several other user controls (i will call "modules"). If such a module contains an unhandled coding error which isn't catched at compile time (e.g. division by zero), no helpful error is thrown. The .aspx page just gets an error from the LoadControl method that the control to load cannot be found (404), but in fact it contains a faulty module.
Is it possible to get the error of the module from within the .aspx page for better troubleshooting? Can I get information about, that (in this example) there is a division by zero error in module (nested user control) xy?

Edit: I have a working solution already - I would just like to know why my original attempt didn't work. My original attempt is the code below.
I'm using the approach I found here:[URL] 306154 to implement a nested Repeater. Each parent item has one or more children items (the point of having the nested Repeater) with a dropdown horizontally aligned to each child item. In an effort to re-use the nested part of the Repeater I wanted to develop that piece as a user control but couldn't get it to work. I am wondering if it is even possible and if so how?
Here is my user control apsx:
<asp:Repeater ID="NestedRepeater" runat="server">
....
<ItemTemplate>
<tr class="text" id="RepeaterItemRow" runat="server">
<td>
<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Name") %>
</td>
<td>
</td>
<td>
</td>
<td>
</td>
<td>
</td>
<td>
</td>
</tr>
</ItemTemplate>
And here is my code behind for the user control. I noticed when I debugged NestedDataSource was null even though in the parent page load the data is there:
public DataSet NestedDataSource
{
get;
set;
}
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (!IsPostBack)
{
NestedRepeater.DataSource = NestedDataSource;
NestedRepeater.DataBind();
}
}
In the parent Repeater in the `<ItemTemplate> I have:
<asp:RepUC ID="NestRep" runat="server" NestedDataSource='<%#((DataRowView)Container.DataItem).Row.GetChildRows("nestedrel") %>'>
And finally the page code behind:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (!IsPostBack)
{
BuildWBS();
}
}
private void BuildPage()
{
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
ds = DataAccessLayer.GetData("System");
ds.Relations.Add("nestedrel", ds.Tables[0].Columns["Id"], ds.Tables[1].Columns["ParentId"]);
ParentRepeater.DataSource = ds;
ParentRepeater.DataBind();
}
The page loads but nothing relating to the repeater appears on the screen. So, can you see anything wrong with what I have? Is the way I tried doing this even possible?

Does anyone know how to disable a create user button in the Create User Wizard if the Terms and Conditions checkbox is not checked?
I have a CUW with additional fields (the data of which is stored in an additional table that I have added to the ordinaty SQL membership database) and I want the user to check the Terms and Conditions checkbox before the user is created.
By any chance, do you also know how to prevent the creation of the user if the additional fields have not been filled?
I triend with Java, code behind and many method but it still dont work: the user is created even if the Terms and Conditions are not checked.

I thought disabling ViewState for a server control would cause this control not to keep its state after a postback. I thought the same would happen if I disable ViewState for the whole page.
However, I tried to create an example to show this to a colleague and was puzzled when a textbox on a page would keep is state (in this case its Text property) after one or more postbacks, even when ViewState is disabled everywhere (both at Page level and Server Control level). Please see the code below:
[Code]....
I can keep pressing the Post back! button and every value typed on the textbox is still there after the postback(s). I'm using VS 2008.
After this example I now assume I don't understand ViewState as I thought I was.

Is there a better, cleaner way to do this in ASP.NET 2.0?
An ASP.NET 2.0 page displays a datalist of records. Each record can have many dates, so the dates are in a nested gridview (I chose a gridview over a datalist here because we want to be able to delete a date and this is easier done in a gridview). The parent record can never be deleted.
The display works fine: the nested gridview gets its datasource during the parent datalist's OnItemDataBound event.
The problem: the nested gridview's delete function. The date gets deleted without a problem (handled in the OnRowDeleting event), but somehow the redisplay is untying all the other nested gridviews from their datasources. The delete does not appear to cause a page postback, so I don't know how the other nested gridviews are losing their datasources.

I'm using the asp:ChangePassword control. I would like to disable the ability for the user to enter a new username but the default shows the current user's UserName and allows editing. Ideally, I would be able to find the child control in the ChangePassword control that is the UserName textbox and set Enable=false.

I have a popup extender that shows when an edit button in a grid is clicked. I am disabling the checkbox and submit button when a particular row is clicked with sone validation. When I close the popup and show again by pressing button on another row the controls are still disabled. Why are these controls properties set permanently on entering the if condition ?

have a page that has a validation summary control. On this page I have a nested user control (Control1). nside Control1 is another nested control (Control2). I have a CustomValidator on a textbox inside Control2.
Although the validation works on this textbox, the error message doesn't get bound to the ValidationSummary control. Is there limitations to the ValidationSummary control with nested controls?

I have a presentation to the CFO in two hours. I can't get a nested repeater control to work right, something to do with teh placement of the <table> tags I think.The first repeater first section works fine, then the child repeater shows the first child section right, but the next section of the parent repeater loses all the formatting applied at the parent table. I've tried vaious permutations of where to place the closing table tag of the outer and the inner and get different results, but never the right results.
Here is my current code:
<tr
style="font-size:small">
<th
style="width:100px">[code]....
These are the results I get:
