I have a many-to-many relationship between students and assignments called "grades". The grade for the assignment is stored in that table in a "gradeNumber" column.
I would also like to specify which assignments should be displayed in the grid. Btw, my LINQ entities are extended to allow me to write/get studentx.Assignments or assignmentx.Students.
I would like to display students and their grades with a GridView and LinqToSQL like this:
[Code]....
I found this topic but it doesn't answer my question: http://forums.asp.net/t/1557987.aspx
I have a many-to-many relationship between students and assignments called "grades".The grade for the assignment is stored in that table in a "gradeNumber" column. The many-to-many relationship seems to be a problem.I tried adding a TemplateField to my grid:
[Code]....
It doesn't work: ...student does not contain a property with the name grade.
It does work when I use class.name however to get a student's class he is in.In code students .grade[0].something works however My LINQ entities are extended with custom code to allow me to retrieve studentx.Assignments or assignmentx.Students.(I would also like to specify which assignments should be displayed in the grid.)
I am working on a class library using C#. I have designed 3 main classes to model our data. They are designed such that class A contains a list of class B instances, and class B contains a reference to a class C instance, ie:
[code]....
I feel like the class design works well for modeling the data and our business rules, but it does create a few limitations like the above situation. I liked the separation of the PolicyTerm and Billing for the ability to allow that code to be modified and tested independently. Also, I feel like it keeps each section smaller and simpler.
I have a gridview displaying "registrationtype id" (FK) from the registration table. I want it to display the related name instead of the id from the registartiontype table.
I have a question in gridview, I want to combine my two or more records into a single cell with two rowsfor Example i have a ID, Name, Year Start, and Year End for Column name in database and i want call it into my gridview that the Year Start and Year End will combine to Year like:
Title is a lookup table of titles (Mr, Miss,...) and its got a relationship with table User by TitleId.
Now I'm trying to display the data in a web page using .net and Entity Framework. I'm using a ListView control and a query as a source. it all displays fine except for the Title.
Here is my code:
MyEntities _entities = new MyEntities (); User user = new User(_entities); IQueryable u = (from x in _entities.Users where x.Active == true select x); ListView1.DataSource = u; ListView1.DataBind();
I am used to making separate Business Object and List<> classes for my DB tables. Sometimes I just have a basic task in hand as displaying a list of year for a search box or having some values in a drop down.
Right now I am ending up with a lot of separate classes and List classes<> for these basic operations.
How can I make a single class for some basic tasks as these by using generics? I want to have single class for some methods like get current year, employee names, Department Name/Code, Title etc. I am using .NET 2.0.
Edit After some searching, I found that I can achieve similar tasks by creating a DTO namespace.
What I don't get right now is how to create multiple classes inside my DTO class. Say 1 class for just returning 'year', One for 'Employee Name/Code' and so on inside the single DTO class.
want to create one web service but I have many classes. I want to call all classes in single wsdl. For example [Assume web service implemented in this class]
[Code]....
my Asmx file is User.asmx.Now when I add webservice reference in website, I want to access as following way
Does putting multiple classes in one file impact performance? Has anyone had any experience with this.
I've read various discussions around application structure and logic of where code can be found with regard to design best practice but little has been said as whether there is any negative/positive/neutral impact on performance.
Is it possible to create a table class that can be used for multiple tables? For example, if I have some class:
[Code]....
In LINQ to SQL, this maps to a table with a name based on the class name, DBClass. However, suppose I want to use that class for multiple tables, and it could be an arbitrary number of tables. Is this possible
I am currently extending the NopCommerce solution for a client and have some general questions about workflow, since this is a relatively large solution for me (50+ projects).
I want to add some classes to the DAL, BLL, and so forth.
What would be the recommended process for this workflow? For example, I created a class in the DAL -> ran build. Then I created a test.aspx page in the main project which instantiates this class -> ran build; however, adding just one line of code causes the solution to rebuild all other projects such as payment modules, which makes the process tedious.
Am I approaching this in the correct manner? I have read about: creating a seperate solution with relevant projects; is this the recommended approach?
I am writing a currency converting module for one of our applications. I have a list of products, a list of currencies we are interested in seeing prices for, and a list of currency rates. I want the user to be able to select which currencies from the list they see in the GridView. I also want to be able to amend my list of currencies and include a new currency, without having to make additional changes to this module. So my GridView display has to be "dynamic". Essentially I am planning on ending up with a GridView that has the following columns:
Part No - Description - USD Price - AUD Price - GBP Price
The USD price would be static as it's our base currency, the AUD and GBP are user selected and could have potentially any number of currencies listed. I would normally use a DataSet and DataTables for this work, but I am sure there is a "better" way to do it using System.Collections.Generics. Right now I have all of the data I need in List collections, but there does not seem to be a way to define how these collections relate to each other, or combine these collections into one so it can be bound to a GridView. Should I be looking at something other than List to achieve this or do I need to go back to my original approach of a DataSet and DataTables.
**UPDATE / SOME CODE**
I will explain a little bit more about what I have setup so far.
1) List of Products & Currencies - These come from an SQL DB via LINQ, so they can be any of the System.Collections.Generics objects, e.g. List, IEnumerable etc.
2) Currency Rates - These I am pulling from the European Bank public XML file. I download the file, strip the data I need out of it and currently store that as a List object.
I could store the currency rates in the database table as well, but then I have to have some sort of background process that goes and updates the rates each day. This way the rates only get updated when someone accesses the report function (which is only going to happen occasionally). So I would rather grab the latest rates "on demand". What I know I need to end up with is some object that has the following structure:
Where the number of Currency Prices is undefined, as it's based on what currencies the user wants the report to display. It's the undefined part that I am struggling with, essentially how can I create a structured object, that I don't know the complete structure of until runtime?
I've tried to read and display the following RSS feed:
[URL]
on my website using Syndication Classes but so far it does not work.
I've created two labels Label1, and Label 2 as well as one DataList in my asp web page, then I have tried to use XMLReader to read the feed but I think XMLReader can only read RSS feeds created in XMLWriter if I am correct.
I think the feed I am trying to read was not created in XML writer and there are some formatting issues. What is the best way to complete my task if I am not sure about the way the RSS feed was created?
I've tried the followign link for the reference but with not much success:
I want to display my data from sql in a grid view. Here the problem is how do I display more than one row under one column. For example, I have A, B columns in sql and then when displaying in Grid, I want to display as in B it contain apple, ball under column "B" with a comma seprator.
I have a store procedure that loops through items and returns multiple 1 row returns. The gridview will only show the first return, and no more because each return from the SP is labeled as row 1. Is there a way to change my SP or have gridview assign a new row number to the returns? My SP:
I am working on Online shopping website where end user can select multiple items at a time and i need to show them in Cart-item where he has selected his choice items. I want to do this by Cookies in that As user clicks on Add-To-Cart button it gets stored in cookies and in the Show-My-Cart-Item page it shows all the selected items in GridView format.
But I am unable to get all the cookies values except DropDownList Value. And in gridView I get only last ddl value. Though I have used foreach loop But it does not work. How we get all the records in gridview.
I want to display my data from sql in a grid view. Here the problem is how do I display more than one columns under one column. For example, I have A, B, C, D, E, F columns in sql and then when displaying in Grid, I want to display as 3 columns A, B, C and under column "B" I want to Display D, E, F.
I currently have 2 table in my SQL Server MisShip and MisShipDetails. MisShip holds the header level information such as MisShip ID (pk), Invoice Number, Date, Recevied By, Comments, Credit Received, Credit Amount, and Credit Memo. MisShipDetails hold the product level details including MisShip Details ID (pk), MisShip ID (fk), MisShipCode, UPC, Product Description, Qty Ordered, Qty Received, Unit Cost, and Amount to be Adjusted. There is a 1 to many relationship between MisShip and MisShipDetails. A particular misship can have many products that were misshipped. Our codes are used to determined reasons why a product would be considered MisShipped (did not receive, damaged, not billed on invoice, etc...)
I have fully functioning forms that my stores use to input the misship data. I am working on a corporate form that our Accounting can use to "close" out the misship when credit is received.
So my MisShip Credit Entry Form is a gridview which displays the header level info about the misship along with a calculation of the Total Amount to be Adjusted which is a formula based on the product details for the misship and the specific codes given to them. That's all working fine.
The question came up how the account person could know what misship codes are associated with a particular invoice. Obviously if I add that column to the SqlDataSource Select statement my misship records are duplicated in the gridview. Ultimately I just need a way to display the distinct codes that are in the MisShipDetails for a particular misship id (where misship_id=@misship_id and @misship_id is the selected row of the gridview?). I must be over thinking this somehow b/c I've tried several ways and can't get the data to do what I want.
What is the easiest way to acheive viewing this data associated to my existing gridview. I don't want to change things up too much b/c they've already approved the ease of use of my gridview, editting, along with it's interactive search capability to locate a particular invoice. But they want the ability to view the details behind it as well. I can post my gridview code if needed. I'm kind of a newbie at this stuff so code examples I can't seem to find the right search keywords to find website information to assist me...been looking for more than 6 hours now.
