Visual Studio :: Dynamically Created Directories Not Displaying In Solution Explorer?

Oct 17, 2010

I have noticed today that when you create a directory in code in a web application the resulting folder structure is not created in the solution explorer (It is fine on disk and app can still access all the files
I am not sure if there is a setting that I am missing or is this a bug?Steps to reproduce

Create a new C# web application in VS 2010. Create a new web page (Default.aspx) and add a file upload control and a button.on the click event on the button add the following code

[Code]....

When the form posts back refresh the solution explorer and the new directory does not appear.Check your file system and the file will be there.Not a massive issue but frustrating.

Web Forms :: Removing The Border Style For Dynamically Created Image Controls?

May 21, 2010

sometimes we need to use the asp image control so we can generate empty alt tags (visual studio 2005 does not render any attributes set
to an empty string). I know how to do this and also how to remove the border style that is automatically added

(http://blog.josh420.com/archives/2007/10/aspnet-image-control-border-width-inline-style.aspx).

We implemented this 6 months ago, however, only today have I discovered that it does not work when images are created dynamically.The first implementation was for asp images that have been set up within an aspx page:

-<asp:image runat="server" id="imgMast1" GenerateEmptyAlternateText="True" alternatetext="" imageurl="" />

The above works-no border style is rendered and the imageurl is populated in code.I have other pages where I'm building up sections dynamically using C# code, such as:-

System.Web.UI.WebControls.Image featureImage = new
System.Web.UI.WebControls.Image();
featureImage.GenerateEmptyAlternateText = true;
featureImage.ImageUrl = imageSrc;
divImage1.Controls.Add(featureImage);
divImageFeature.Controls.Add(divImage1);

When creating controls dynamically like this, the solution describe above does not remove the border style.

Jquery - Options For Displaying Existing WebForm In A Lightbox?

Aug 31, 2010

I have been given a requirement to take an existing stand-alone web-form (i.e. uses postbacks) and throw it into a lightbox. The standalone web-form already has save and cancel buttons that have predefined behaviors. For example, the Save button attempts to save the form, and either displays validation errors, or if the operation was successful, redirects to some other page in the app. However, in the context of this new "lightbox mode", the Save button should additionally close the lightbox if the operation was successful. I see two options:

Option 1-->UpdatePanel + ModalDialogExtender:a. Extract a UserControl out of the standalone web-form that includes everything but save/cancel buttonsb. Introduce Save and Cancel EventHandlers on said UserControl
c. Use this UserControl on both the standalone and lightbox versions of the page, and wire up the events appropriatelyOption 2-->Client side lightbox (i.e. jQuery)I'm a big fan of jQuery and tend to favor its use for Ajax functionality b/c of the level of control it gives me. On the other had, I also want the simplest solution that will possibly work. Assuming that option 2 is that option,

Web Forms :: Use Dynamically Created Controls Such As A Checkbox List And Fill The Values Dynamically?

Sep 28, 2010

I'm creating an quiz application which queries the database and extracts the questions and choices. I use dynamically created controls such as a checkbox list and fill the values dynamically. How do I do this? Right now I have these functions:

array_random_init(); this creates a 10 element integer array from 1-20 - extract_question(i): this extracts a question indexed at i in DB, I created the controls and set the appropriate text in this function. - validate_question(i); this is called by button_click and validates the question i according to DB.

I understand I have to recreate the controls in Page_init on postback, but what should it look like? Do I need to add "if IsPostBack" in page_init, or do I create the controls in page_init() and reset their properties in page_load when I use extract_question(i)? Also, I cannot seem to clear the selected boxes on postback, I added page directive "enableviewstate=false" but it doesn't work.

Web Forms :: How To Use AddHandler To Dynamically Assign Events To Dynamically Created Buttons

Feb 14, 2011

I have a website that sales associates access to view account information with clients. S.A's can only view information for accounts that they are tied to. Some clients have more than one account, S.A's can be tied to more than one account, but not all accounts of one client need to be tied to one S.A.

On the account info pages, I have account numbers (dynamically displayed labels) displayed of other accounts that the account client is associated with, which the S.A's can see. I'm modding this so that if the S.A has viewing permissions of any of the other accounts on that list of accounts, that instead of a label being displayed, a button directing them to that account page will display instead. In order for this to work, I have to attach a security function to the button, otherwise the page will blow out on the S.A's.

So I'm running a piece that is displaying a button instead of a label, which is working fine. My problem is when I try to attach the security event to the dynamically displayed buttons. It seems that the page just posts back and doesn't execute my code at all.

On my Page_Load, I'm running this after the buttons and labels are displayed:

For x = 0 to tblAccountList.Rows.Count - 1
'use a try to target the button, use catch to handle if it's instead a label, only one cell per row.
Try
Dim accountLink as Button = tblAccountList.Rows(x).Controls(0)
Addhandler accountLink.Click, AddressOf Me.PermissionViewCheck
Catch ex as InvalidCastException
Continue For
End Try
Next

I don't have any code checking for postbacks or anything like that, but the "PermissionViewCheck" event never fires and just reposts the page.

Forms Data Controls :: Efficient Way Of Displaying Many Images In Webform

Feb 15, 2011

I am trying to find an efficient way of displaying images (about 140x140px) in a webform. We cannot use paging, so we need to display all these images in the same webform.I noticed that facebook (and other sites) lets you display all your images in one page. For a profile qith about 1000 photos, facebook somehow downloads only enough so that the visitor can see images on the screen. Once you scroll, it seems to only download enough so that the visitor can again see something on screen. It works like a good text editor.... instead of displaying a huge file onscreen (like notepad does) and freezing, it only displays enough for the reader to see.

Web Forms :: Best Way To Dynamically Add Custom Fields To A Webform?

Nov 9, 2010

I have an application that allows the user to define custom fields that will later show up on a form for viewing and editing. The user defines the field type, label, length and other custom attributes about a field and these field definitions are stored in a database. The fields are loaded into an array of CustomField objects at runtime. Later when the page is rendered I want to be able to display these fields and if in edit mode allow the user to edit the fields.

what is the easiest way to throw these up on the webform for display and allow editing if edit mode is selected?

Image From Usercontrol Won't Display On Webform

Oct 12, 2010

I added this code in my ascx file [URL]..When it was aspx file..the image(location is "Images" folder in my project now..was flickr earlier) would display alright..but when I made this page into a user control and added it in my webform, the image's vanished..I have tried changing the path many times but its not working..The user control is inside of "usercontrols" named folder..image inside of "images" named folder in my page and my aspx page's at root level only..so I changed the image path in the css of usercontrol as follows:-

background-image: url(../images/myImage.jpg);

even tried

background-image: url(../../images/myImage.jpg);

and this

background-image: url(~/images/myImage.jpg);

but the Sprite image just won't display

Everything else in the usercontrol is getting displayed well ..just that image's missing..whats wrong?

Web Forms :: Displaying An Image Within An Image Control On A Website From A SQL Database?

Oct 19, 2010

I am working on a website, using C# with a SQL backend. I'm using the Varbinary data type to store my images because the Image data type is eventually going away. I got the images into the DB and can pull them back out to display on the website. My question is how can I put the images from the DB into an Image control on the website? The images will be different sizes, so I need to keep them confined in one space on the site. I also need to randomly display the images, one at a time, on the website. The user needs to be able to hit the Next button to see the next image when they are ready. The user will only view the images, not make any changes and send data back to the DB.

Since the image will be confined within the image control, how can I allow the user to click on the image and open in a new window? The image needs to be bigger to allow the user to see more detail. Or would it be easier to allow the user to zoom in on the image within the current window?I am using VWD Express, C# 2010 Express & SQL 2005 Express.

May 24, 2010

I'm trying to get the value of a dynamically created radiobuttonlist via javascript to call a pagemethod.

This is how I'm creating the rbl:

rbl.Attributes["onclick"] = "javascript:preview('" + rbl.ID + "','" + rbl.ClientID + "');";

And this is the javascript:

function preview(controlid, clientid)
{

var answer = "k";
for (var ii = 0; ii < radio.length; ii++)
{
if (radio[ii].checked)
answer = radio[ii].value;
}
PageMethods.SaveAnswer(controlid, answer);
}

The problem however is that I want to get the groupname of the radiobuttionlist so I can use getElementsByName, but i have no luck so far.
