I know that if I have set a cookie on a previous request, it will show up in my Request.Cookies collection. I want to update my existing Cookie. Are the cookies from my Request.Cookies collection already copied to my Response.Cookies collection? Do I need to add a new cookie with the same key using Response.Cookies.Add(), or do I need to use Response.Cookies.Set()?

this will error with an OutOfMemoryException because the for loop never exits - each time you add a cookie to the Response, it also gets added to the `Request.
I'm using HttpModule to capture requests to the web server. Before processing the page I'd like to check the values contained in some keys of the Request.Form collection and according to some logic change if necessary. I'd like to do this when BeginRequest event is fired. The problem is that the Request.Form collection is readonly.
View 4 RepliesI'm handling cookies using JavaScript to store some values in my asp.net web application.I use document.cookie to save some values (converted into a lengthy string). But i want that value to be accessible across all the pages in my application.When i try to get that value from a different page, i get the values pertaining to the document in the current URL.
In short i save the value in the cookie in http://myapp/doc1.aspx and want to retrieve it in http://myapp/doc2.aspx
So is document.cookie is pertaining to a single document scope? How can i save/read cookies across the site?

Using a standard .CS class doesn't seem to give me access to these objects. How can I (generall speaking) create a utility function that checks for a cookie and update it across multiple pages?

View 10 RepliesI have a list of objects that I want to bind to a gridview. Creating that list and binding it works fine for most of the public properties in that list.
There are some objects contained in each of those objects... for instance there is an Address object.

When I bind this to my gridview, I have no issues with stuff like object.DateRegistered, but how can I access things like object.Address.WhatEverProperty? I always get this error:
"A field or property with the name 'xxx.xxxx' was not found on the selected data source."

View 2 RepliesI set up my 1.1 and 2.0 applications to run on the same website (in different app pools) But the application written in 2.0 code cannot read a cookie on the request coming from a different system.Similar code reads the cookie on the 1.1 website.If I deploy my 2.0 application on a different machine, the code works fine and gets the cookie. Here's the code:

In 1.1 application the above returns false, and in 2.0 above returns true. On debugging and watching the value of response,cookies, I dont see the cookie. Since the same application works fine on another server, I am assuming there is some error in my setup. I am using IIS 6 on W2003 r2.
I'm building a greasemonkey script to make posting to craigslist a lot easier for our clients.
Basically the flow is this:
User logs into our system (established authentication cookies with asp.net)User navigates to a section on our site called "CraigsList". If they have the greasemonkey script installed it automatically opens up craigslist in a new tab.
The greasemonkey script then does a request back to our site at [URL] to retrieve a list of available items to be posted to craigslist.
This is where it fails because the request to [URL] is not including any of the authentication cookies. I'm not sure if it doesn't include the cookies because the request originates from [URL] and not [URL] or what. I know it's an authentication issue because looking at it in fiddler it returns a 302 and redirects to the login page.

These textboxes actually belong to a certain class, so for easy updating I thought I could create a Dictionary(Of string, object) and add the control.ID and the control to it and then for updating do something like this:

However the text property of the textbox does not actually get updated. I'm mainly trying to avoid having to manually do textbox.text = somestring for each one of my textboxes every time I have to update them.
I'm using a custom ashx handler to handle a file upload. When run locally, the file uploads fine.When I use the same setup on the web server I get a "Index out of range" error.In firebug I see the binary contents of the file in the post data and the file name is also passed in the query string.Any one seen this before?I`m sure its something minor, but its driving me up the wall.

I have an aspx page where I want to post values to a new page and then redirect to that new page. I don't get any errors and the redirection occurs but the AllKeys collection is always empty.

I use the setcookiestring function on other pages and it works fine, but this function (removing from the basket) isn't setting the cookie! It is writing "done" to the top of the page, so the functions are executing.
No warnings, no errors, it's just not updating the cookie.

I would like to encrypt cookies in ASP.NET.
I have followed the method in this article, but it has the drawback that is uses reflection on an internal method. This has caused it to be flagged in a code review -- it is not future-proof as the internal implementation may change.
Is there a method with identical functionality which doesn't require using encryption on internal methods?

They log in at a https page. We authenticate them and set some session info in a cookie.
We do this in a helper library that takes in the controller context

The cookie appears in the response (according to firebug's net tab).
But neither fireforx nor ie send the cookie on subsequent gets.
We are setting the cookie domain to mydomain.com even though the site is mysubdomain.mydomain.com. Skipping the redirect command has no effect, nor does changing the cookie value.
