View 1 RepliesIm using intelligencia urlrewriter as my url rewrite module. I have one very strange problem which only occurs when an url is rewritten but to make it more fun, not on all rewritten pages. Edit: Forgot to tell you what's the problem boing boing. the problem is that my Page_Load event gets fired 2 times.his is how my form rewrite adapter looks like:using System;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;

When an asynchronous postback happened inside update panel, another postback happens also for MasterPagenot only update panel embedded page .I want to prevent this MasterPage postback . is this possible ?think like i have a MasterPage and another page which is test.aspx which is content page of MasterPagei have update panel at test.aspxwhen asynchronous postback happens at this test.aspx update panel it also loads
MasterPage Page_Loadi want to prevent this (it should not also load MasterPage Page_Load)
So I have an asp:Login field on my login page. However, I want to use a path for the create account url and the forgot password url. So I have to do it in Page_Load or maybe Page_Init. Regardless, neither option works, it simply refuses to modify the login form.
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string accountpath = Request.Url.AbsoluteUri + "/user/RequestAccount.aspx";
string forgotpath = Request.Url.AbsoluteUri + "/user/ForgotPassword.aspx";
lgnMain.CreateUserUrl = accountpath;
lgnMain.PasswordRecoveryUrl = forgotpath;
lgnMain.InstructionText = "test";
lgnMain.Focus();
}
protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string accountpath = Request.Url.AbsoluteUri + "/user/RequestAccount.aspx";
string forgotpath = Request.Url.AbsoluteUri + "/user/ForgotPassword.aspx";
lgnMain.CreateUserUrl = accountpath;
lgnMain.UserName = "test";
lgnMain.InstructionText = "test";
lgnMain.PasswordRecoveryUrl = forgotpath;
}
i was debugging a test page when i noticed that its init and load event handlers are being called twice.
i found out by search that this may arise due to some html tags which im not using in my page,
also some line:
Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load,Me.Load
may cause this problem.
i use c# in the code behind aspx, if such line is the problem, in which file should i look for?
I have a page that is using the Ajax asynch file uploader. What I would like to have happen is after the file is uploaded I would like to have it displayed in a list on the page. I am looking for a way to fire a callback event when the file upload is complete. Is it possible using the asynch fileupload control?
View 1 RepliesIs there any way can let me set a textbox's value before the asynchronous postback. but I don't want to add a handler for a control which caused that asynchronous postback, because there are too much control can cause that. I want to know if there is a client event would be caused before the postback.
I tried the event initializeRequest of PageRequestManager to do this, but it did not work, it seems like the request has been generated when this event was executed, the value i set in this event for textbox did not be sent to server.
here is a page I used to test
<%@ Page Language="C#" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> runat="server">

So I have a page with an UpdatePanel and some controls in there. When I explicitly type/copy+paste the page's address into the address bar, let VS navigate there for me, or follow a link to the page, all of the AJAX works fine. But if I refresh this page, the JS on the page initiates the async postback, but the appropriate event is never called on the server (although Page_Load is) and the client never recieves the markup sent back by the server. This issue seems to be limited to Firefox 3.6 (Gecko build 1/15/2010)(doesn't happen in IE8). I have yet to try on other versions of Firefox.
View 2 Repliesi am trying to increase my web based game movement system speed as much as possible.
i am using ajax asynchronous postbacks for moving on the map. (if you wanna check address [URL] )
so i am looking for all kind of tips to increase ajax asynchronous postback speed.
On postback, how can I check which control cause postback in Page_Init event.
protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
//need to check here which control cause postback?
}
I have textbox in which pincode has to be entered and it checks with database and gets city and state from database and fills data in other 2 textbox.I have kept asynchronous postback trigger on textbox textchanged event. After reterving data from database i set focus on other textbox of STDCode.But the problem with ie7,ie8 browser is that the focus comes on control but i can't write anything in stdcode textbox untill i move to another textbox. When i come back from another textbox i can write in stdcode textbox.Problem gets occured only in IE7,Ie8 browsers only.Here is design file of that page.

I am building a website in which all of the site layout is in Master page and the content of the site is in the inherited pages. I have various links for navigation in which i simple use Response.Redirect to transfer to different pages. Now the problem is that I want to put the content place holder inside Ajax Update panel so that the postbacks are Asynchronous and I want to show the postback by an animated image inside Update Panel progress control. The problem is that I am unable to achieve this result and the entire page is posted back and rendered again. I have placed the content place holder inside the Ajax control toolkit's Update panel but it does not work. Is there any way that I can change the content of the content place holder to a new page with asynchronous postback.

I have same problem, can anyone write a code project exemple
For some reason I can't get the button event to fire...
This is my Accordion:
[Code]....
I dynamically add the panes and buttons...
[Code]....
These two should get fired - but they dont:
[Code]....
I read somewhere that I should add the button to the UpdatePanel
[Code]....
But when I do I get this error :
The Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks (i.e. <% ... %>).
I have a gridview control with some linkbuttons in.
When the linkbutton is pressed, i want the ID value attached to it, to be usually in the Page_Init where i need to create some dynamic controls, based on this ID.
But since the linkbutton's click event, is fired AFTER the Page_Init, this is a little hard for me to do.
How would i go about doing this, if it is even possible?
The reason behind, is that the linkbutton refers to a calendar event. Once clicked, it will list the details, but it will also list any comments, users have submitted about it. The dynamic controls i need to create, are delete buttons for the comments, so an admin can remove offensive comments.
All done on a single aspx page, with updatepanels (visible toggles, and populating labels). I would like to avoid sending users to another page, with a horrible ?id=6 link.
I am having a problem with web pages in a .Net site where the Page_Init is firing on each postback rather than the normal behavior (Page_Init fired initially, and only Page_Load fired on postbacks)
Several comments:
1. AutoEventWireup is set to false on all pages, with a "Handles Me.Init" set on Page_Init. All events are defined with the "Handles" verb as shown below
2. Each web page is subclassed to a parent class which provides strongly-typed access to the contents of session variables.
3. The Page_Load event for most of the pages performs a DataBind operation on a gridview control.
Partial Public Class SamplePage
Inherits PageManager (PageManager inherits from System.Web.UI.Page)
Protected Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init
...
End Sub
I have a gridview that includes dynamically created dropdownlist. When changing the dropdown values and doing a mass update on the grid (btnUpdate.click), I have to create the controls in the page init so they will be available to the viewstate. However, I have several other buttons that also cause a postback and I don't want to create the controls in the page init, but rather later in the button click events.
How can I tell which control fired the postback while in page_init? __EVENTTARGET = "" and request.params("btnUpdate") is nothing
When an asynchronous postback happened inside update panel, another postback happens also for MasterPage not only update panel embedded page .
I want to prevent this MasterPage postback .
is this possible ? think like i have a MasterPage
and another page which is test.aspx which is content page of MasterPage
i have update panel at test.aspx
when asynchronous postback happens at this test.aspx update panel it also loads MasterPage Page_Load
i want to prevent this (it should not also load MasterPage Page_Load)
I am creating a ASP.Net server control to manage locations. The control is a composite control containing several text-boxes, labels, and a link button. I use the AJAX Control Toolkit to provide a modal popup which contains a Bing map. All the Javascript is in its own file and used as an embedded web resource.
The link button is what opens the modal popup. It also needs to call a Javascript function that initializes the Bing map (onclick = "GetMap();"). There are instances when this server control is placed within an Update Panel (and there is no way to avoid this). When in an Update Panel the link button loses its onclick event. I understand that this is because during an async postback the portion of the DOM that defines the content of the Update Panel is thrown out and reinitialized, resulting in the event breaking. When the control is not in an Update Panel everything works as intended.
I have tried registering events on Page.Load and Page.Init, like so:
[Code]....
I have also tried flat out writing the function call to the page:
[Code]....
I have put breakpoints on the lines inside each delegate and they do not get hit. I am not aware of any special way to register events of a composite control's child control or the Page.Load/Page.Init events when being done inside a server control. Is there some special way to register these events? (Note: Both those code blocks above are in my CreateChildControls() method)
Below is the GetMap() Javascript function. As you can see it is pretty straight forward.
[Code]....
I have something like this:
bool preventEvents;
protected void Page_Load(object sender, eventargs e)
{
preventEvents = doSomeValidation();[code]....
EDIT:
got some interesting answers (thanks to everyone) but not what i was looking for, maybe i should be more specific:
given some condition, is it possible to skip all events after Page_Load and just jump to the rendering, without manually removing/mapping each event?
I need a Slider that will only postback when the slider has been moved. Can this be achieved with SliderExtender?
I have a TextBox with autopostback=true, within an updatepanel within a usercontrol. The TextBox is extended by SliderExtender (default settings).
The TextBox's TextChanged event fires perfectly when the slider is moved (MouseUp - standard extender setting). The aspx page is partially posted back, and all is well.
However, if another usercontrol on the same aspx page causes a partial postback, the SliderExtender causes the TextChanged event to be raised - for no aparent reason. This is causing problems.
Is it possible to prevent postback unless the slider has actually been moved?!

View 9 RepliesI do some dynamic stuff with UpdatePanel controls and it would be great to store stuff in a Session key and be able to grab it immediately with confidence in a Page_Init. Fantasy e.g.,
If(!isPostBack)
Session[pageInstanceID + "ThekeyIWantAccessTo"] = "123";
else
locVarValue = Session[pageInstanceID + "ThekeyIWantAccessTo"] +"";
I want something like this so that even if an individual user has two or more instances of that page open I am able to respond correctly to the immediate instance in Page_Init. Is it possible to achieve what I want or some facsimile of same? I know I can speculatively make an assumption and then check it in Page_Load when I have access to ViewState, but I would like something that approaches a best practice.
I have the following code in Page_Init (actually in a function called by Page_Init in response to a __doPostBack call)
System.Web.UI.WebControls.DropDownList ddlGroup = new System.Web.UI.WebControls.DropDownList();
rowString = rowNumber.ToString();
've recently set up an ASP.net site (not using MVC.net) to use URL Routing (more on the code below) - when using user controls on the site (i.e I've created a "menu" user control to hold menu information) the page_load event for that control will fire twice when URLs have more than one variable passed over.
i.e.
pageName/VAR1 : will only fire the page_load event once.
while
pageName/VAR1/VAR2 : will fire the page_load event twice.
*Multiple extra VARs added on the end will still only fire the page_load event twice*.
Below are the code snippits from the files, the first is the MapPageRoute, located in the Global.asax :
[code]....
Note, that when I'm just hitting the page and it uses the default values for items, the reloads do not happen.
I'm using a .js file to bind events to controls. I'm also using UpdatePanel to do async postbacks; however, when they postback,the controls lose the events that were initially bound to them. Is it possible to rebind the events in the Page_Load function by using the .js file?
