I have installed the current version of nopCommerce (v1.6) on my local server using SQL server express.I have downloaded the version with source code and have installed it without problems. When I go to open any .aspx pages it opens perfectly but when you switch to design view all you can see is broken image's and databound labels. It looks as if it is not using the CSS as the layout is single coloum down the left hand side of the page. When I run the solution through the local host it appears perfectly in the web browser, but when I go back to the visual studio design page it still does not render correctly.Has this happened to anyone else? Has anyone found a solution to this?It makes it really hard to change the layout as when I am editing the CSS on my other monitor usually I can see it updating the page while I edit the CSS on the other, with nopCommerce I have to build the solution every time I want to look at the changes I have made. It also makes it nearly impossible to place new controls into the webpage without fiddling with them for an hour before they are in the right position.I have coded other websites by hand in visual studio I have been able to edit the layout without having to build the solution.
I'll be debugging a site in Visual Studio 2010 and editing an *.aspx or *.ascx file, and without warning, it will lock up so that I can't edit it. There's no message or anything, I just can't type or make any changes. The only way to start editing again is to stop debugging, close the editing window, and then find whatever file I was working on and reopen it. It's a huge pain in the you-know-what. My colleagues are experiencing the same thing, so it's apparently not something with my particular setup. What's the explanation, and how can we make it stop?
Note 1: I've reported this to Microsoft here. If you've experienced this as well, please go there and vote up the bug report.
Note 2: This is not VSS-related, at least in my case. We use VisualSVN, which doesn't use file-system-level locking to mark files as checked out.
I tried to install Visual Studio Prof 2010 trail version in my system, but i got an error saying 'Please remove/uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' to proceed installation. i uninstalled my previous VS2008 software from system and i could not find anything like 'Remove/Uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' software in my Add/Remove Programs.
I have been ising TFS 2010 with VS 2010 Ultimately for a couple of months now. I have a client who is using Visual Web 2010, does anyone know if this integrated with TFS easily?
I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.
Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 locked up, and when I tried to restart it, it wouldn't load, so I did a devenv.exe /resetuserdata to get it going again. It reset everyhing in my options of the web app/ etc, and now some AJAX conrols don't work such as dragpanel. I assume that it is because something got reset that I haven't enabled again, but can't figure it out.
Im working on a website project with Visual Studio 2010 from 2 different computers (home & work). In Dreamweaver Im used to FTP to upload/download files to/from a webserver to syncronice my files on the current computer Im working on.What is best option in Visual Studio 2010 to sync project files between home & work computers? I have seen there is a built in FTP, but seems only it can upload files, limited functionality?
I want to use a source control in VS2010, I know my best bet is TFS, but at the moment TFS(can't afford ). As i understand TFS is the new VSS_2005(can afford)Can VSS 2005 be use as a source control for VS 2010 solutions/projects?
when i opened my Visual Studio 2010 i noticed that my ajax tab was missing from my toolbox and ajax control kit too. Then i noticed even that when i create new website, there is no web.config in it and it should be.WHAT IS GOIN ON???? :/
I was trying to create a new page .But I needed to make the positioning to absolute. But for this the layout menu is invisible.how to add this menu to the visual studio..
I am learning ASP .net (I have several years experience designing windows applications). When I add controls to a new blank web page, I do not seem to be able to control where on the page these controls sit. They default to being jammed up against one another from left to right in the top left corner. Am I missing something? Is something not working? If this is by design, what is the basic method for controlling how controls sit on the web page?
Every time I press F1 to view the online Help it launches in the Opera browser. I really dislike Opera and only have it installed on my PC for testing purposes. How do I change it to IE?
At work, we've developed a custom ASP.NET Web Portal (That's very similar to iGoogle). We have "Apps" (self-contained, large web forms) and "Modules" (similar to Google Gadgets).Currently, we use a single-solution model. Right now, we have:
To reduce copy and pasting between projects, we're going to factor out common functionality (Data Access, Business Logic) into separate projects. I'd also like to introduce Unit Tests, which is going to increase the number of projects even more. We've already reached the point where Visual Studio is choking on the number of projects. We generally only load the 3 core projects and then whatever app's/module's project we're working on.Would a different solution structure help us out? Our number of projects is only going to increase.
In general, an app or module only references the 3 core projects. Soon, apps/modules may start referencing the Data Access/Business Logic projects. But in general, apps and modules do not make references between themselves. So to recap, what is the best practice for solution structure when there are MANY projects that use a small number of core projects?
I'm using visual studio 2010 professional, I dont what had happened but i lost my settings suddenly and the VS editor is generating a HYPHEN (-) everytime when i press SPACE BAR key..
I've tried restoring the settings, changing the settings from OPTIONS without any luck.
When I first open vs there is a screen with a blue background that is displayed. That screen has a very noticable flicker which is actually painful to my eyes. It is like my monitor is out of sync. I am running vista, screen resolution 1920 x 1200. I have two identical monitors, graphics card is ATI radeon 3800 series.I have no problems with any other application or game. I was hoping this would go away with the RC but it is still there.
When editing a UserControl (.ascx) in my project, it forces a rebuild of the website when requesting the page. This really gets annoying when programming any large project, the build time goes up to 15sec+.
In the last few days I found myself looking at a blank screen more often than programming. This gets frustrating, all the waiting.
I have Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and ASP.NET MVC 2 (not the RC) installed on 2 computers, one at home and one at work which allows me to work on the same projects (via a synced dropbox account) in both locations.I've recently started with ASP.NET MVC and I've noticed that the projects I create at work won't compile at home (haven't tried it in reverse yet), citing the UrlParameter on line 22 and AreaRegistration on line 29 of the default Global.asax file as having a missing reference.I've checked the using System.Web.Mvc statement is in place and that the reference exists in the project references folder in solution explorer. I've looked in the object browser as well and I can see that my work machine shows the System.Web.Mvc.UrlParameter but my home machine doesn't.I've created a brand new Web MVC project on my home computer and the object in object browser is there, everything compiles and runs fine.
