ASP.NET 3.5I'm very confused. After inserting a record into a formview, I want to go back to readonly mode. However I need to enable a button in the ItemTemplate as well.I put my code in the ItemCreated event (tried ModeChanged event as well) as below:
If formview.currentmode = FormViewMode.ReadOnly and inprocess then
ormView.Row.FindControl("NextImageButton").Visible = True
end if
Although currentmode is ReadOnly, FormView.Row still seems to contain the EditItemTemplate (combined template for inserts and edits) controls, not the Itemtemplate controls. This seems totally wrong to me - can someone confirm?
I have a FormView and I have the following defined:
[Code]....
This gets called when I go into Insert mode just fine, but it also gets called when I click the INSERT button to insert my record. I am trying to use this function to set default values for those controls on the form.
How do I stop this from being fired twice, or is there another method of setting the defualt calues?
When render a databound ListView I want to dynamically set the background colour of each row depending on the results, in my case Red, Orange and Green.
I have a formview with various templates set up for a database that has 255 columns. I need the insertitemtemplate to pre-fill values based upon a specific selection by the user (just like the edit item template) but when the template is switched to insertitemtemplate every text box is cleared. The idea is that a new entry is usually made by making minor changes to an existing entry. With 255 fields I don't want to require the user to enter every field when only three or four need to change.
I have a formview that use the formview iteminserted event. The information inserts into the formview fine, but all cells blank out after the insert. How can I make it so I can show all the values I have inserted show up in the formview after the inteminserted event?
I have n pages with formviews, all sharing a similar layout inside their item/edit/insert templates. For example all item and edit templates have a header and body part inside where i put the fields. The header has a certain style and the body part too.My question is how can i enforce this style in all my formviews without repeating the same bulk css styles all the time. Now i'm using masterpages for this with multiple formviews on 1 page. That's not good i think. I want one 1 page for edit/insert/item and 1 formview.I would prefer somehow to define the style for edit template once and load it into every formview. Ofcourse not all the formviews have the same fields, so like masterpages i would like to have 'areas' where i can put my fields. The perfect way i suppose would be to have a formview span a complete masterpage based page including the contentplaceholders inside it's edit/insert/item templates.
I want to change the default formview generated template. I don't mean change the itemtemple on each page, I mean what VS generates when ever you databind the formview. I want to change it so it uses <label...>xxx</label> instead of xxx <asp....
I would like to set the one template for edit/insert and view in my custom FormView control . But i got these odd exception Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.UI.LiteralControl' to type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.Table'.
public class CustomFormView : FormView { [PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty), TemplateContainer(typeof(FormView), BindingDirection.TwoWay)] public IBindableTemplate FormTemplate { get; set; } protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e) { ChangeMode(FormViewMode.Edit); if (FormTemplate != null) { if (CurrentMode == FormViewMode.Edit) { FormTemplate.InstantiateIn(this); } } base.OnInit(e); } } edited : in the first step , I created the new user control and added a formview ("FV") public partial class Form : UserControl { private IBindableTemplate _template = null; [PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty), TemplateContainer(typeof(FormView), System.ComponentModel.BindingDirection.TwoWay)] public IBindableTemplate FormTemplate { set;get } protected void Page_Init() { if (FormTemplate != null) { FV.InsertItemTemplate = FV.EditItemTemplate = FormTemplate; if (!IsPostBack) FormTemplate.InstantiateIn(FV); } } }
Now , I want to convert this user control to web control.
In my "insert tempate", I formatted fields, moved them around so everything looked and acted as needed. My Question) Anyway of taking that work (including the field formatting) and copy to the "edit template" ?
I have a simple EditItem Template within a Formview that I am using to add a record to a table. There is one field in the form that I would like to assign a variable to. I cannot figure it out. I do not see any properties in VS2008 that allow me to assign the value.
The value that I am assigning is an item number, wich is the primary key in the table that I supply on the form.
I keep getting a null reference when I try to access a listbox inside the EditItemTemplate of a formview. I check the mode before accessing the control (Formview1.CurrentMode) to make sure it is in edit mode and even set it manually to edit mode again! But formview1.findcontrol("blah") returns null. Formview1.EditItemTemplate does not have a FindControl method, not sure what else to try.
In my listview object insert/edit template, I have two dropdownlists (category, subcategory). When a user selects a category (autopostback), I would like the subcategory dropdown to filter to only the those that match the categoryID from the category ddl. This seems to be complicated by the fact that it is in a listview object. I'm currently using a queryextender on the subcategory datasource, but I'm not sure how to apply the selectedvalue of the category to the queryextender. The subcategory just shows all items and is not filtered. How do you accomplish this?
I'm putting together a page that allows the user to enter a new record in an SQL table. A bunch of the fields in the table are bit datatypes. I want to use CheckBoxes to correspond to the bit datatype columns in the SQL table.
How do I bind the checkboxes to the SQL table columns?
I have a web form for handling invoices which has a form view. When I'm in insert item template, I need to have various fields. Some of them are contract number, invoice number, register date and other that are easy to handle. But there is a dropdown list related with a table of prices (the table has price name, price initial payment, number of payments, amount of month fee and so on). So, when the dropdown is selected, fields related with price should get their values from price table, and then the user decides to keep them or type in new values. How can I get it done? Should I use a Dynamic populate extender or type all the code behind using SelectedIndexChanged method to populate price related controls?
I'm trying to use a required field validator on a fckeditor inside a formview edit template, but it's not working and I can't seem to get any google searched methods on this to work.
I am using C#, Object Data Source, formview and a BLL. I have two drop down lists and two data sources. One populates the other. Drop down list #1 populates Drop Down list # 2 based on its selection . Drop down list # 1 is populated with DataSource #1. Forview is using DataSource #3 to send the ietms. When I add: SelectedValue='<%#Bind("Make_ID") %>', I get the error below:
Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control
I have seen a solution online but it is using LINQ and I am not familiar with it. I need to find the selected value of the drop down lists.
I have a Formview residing inside am Item Template of a Gridview. The formview is not populating, and I am pretty convinced that I am not passing the parameter properly from the Gridview to the Formview. I have listed the relevant code only, so that you can scan though it easierGridview tag:
I have a DataGrid which i am using on the page alogn with 4 tabs. Clicking on each tab different datasource is getting bing to the data grid. Now following is problem,
There are 4 tabs of UI I have written code to bind data source to data grid on onclick event of tab (which is linkbutton) However when i am clicking on the tab data gets bind to data grid but item created and item databound event which i have attached to grid on page init() are not firing on the first time. I also have attached page index changed event clicking on which executes item created and item data bound event
Sub PFTFormView_ItemUpdating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As FormViewUpdateEventArgs) Dim PFTObj As New PFT Dim PFTDST As New Data.DataSet Dim newPFTLastName As String = DirectCast(PFTFormView.FindControl("txtPFTLastName"), TextBox).Text Dim newPFTFirstName As String = DirectCast(PFTFormView.FindControl("txtPFTFirstName"), TextBox).Text PFTObj.PFTLastName = newPFTLastName PFTObj.PFTFirstName = newPFTFirstName PFTObj.PFTHome = DirectCast(PFTFormView.FindControl("txtPFTHome"), TextBox).Text If PFTObj.UpdatePFT(Session("PFTId")) Then Me.lblErrorMessage.Text = "PFT Update Successfully" Else ' Me.lblErrorMessage.Text = "PFT Update UnSuccessfully" End If PFTDST = Nothing PFTObj = Nothing end sub
I wish to add a sub to vb file that changes the display value of several asp:panels located in a Formview Item Template. My only question is what is the proper event to run this in. (databound, item created etc...) If it matters this formview appears in a Gridview Item Template.
