Feb 2, 2010I have some template columns that have multiple textboxes in them.
There is one textbox for the Date portion of a datetime field and another textbox for the Time portion of the datetime field.
How do I populate those textboxes after the user clicks on the "Edit" button?
My assumption was I could get the data from the label that was displaying the datetime field data, break it down into Date and Time, and then access the textboxes.text property to fill those.
I can get the data from the label control, but when trying to fill the two textboxes with the data, I get Object Reference Not Set... errors.
Im assuming maybe those textboxes are not setup yet during the RowEditing Event?

Mar 28, 2010I am trying to handle the detailsview programmatically but I don't know what I am doing wrong. My details view control isn't going into edit mode. My code for my gridview's select button properly loads the data into the detailsview but once the detailsview renders clicking on "Edit" doesn't switch the detailsview contol into edit mode.
This code draws the information from my database and loads the information into the dataview:

Jul 24, 2010I have a SQL DB with just 2 fields, ID and TEXT.What i was trying to do, was placing a Detailsview in EDIT MODE, then selecting from the DB like SELEC TOP 1 Text FROM DB.Then i placed a Ajax HTML Editor in the template field.How can i, keep the HTML Editor on the page, and use it for INSERT and/OR EDITING ?e.g.: on the first time the user opens the site management page, it will be blank, so it will show the HTML with no text on it. but the bottom button will be UPDATE and CANCEL. So when he enters the TEXT he clicks on UPDATE.

Oct 2, 2010In my application Iam using GridView, in this there are fields (Quantity, Price, Amount) the user can enter Quantity Field value which is a template field (textbox). Iam calculating Amount(Quantity * Price) using Javascript and assigning to the Amount Column cells as below

and when user clicks on the Save button I want to add these details of Gridview to the database.

Before implementing the Javascript part, I had done this in the code behind and it was working fine... Now I just dont want the page to get load so I used javascript.

Sep 14, 2010I have a DetailsView within an UpdatePanel. I programmatically put the DetailsView into edit mode, change the fields then call the UpdateItem method which causes the "must be in edit mode to update a record" exception. Am I missing something blindingly obvious?

Mar 15, 2010In web config file I have add key values specified.
In the formview I have labels on edit , item and insert mode that I want to display all the time by getting those values from web config. I'm able to do that with no problem but when I change the modes between edit to insert or item view, I lose those label values until I hit the "select" twice from the Gridview, those values re-appear. Below is the snippet of the code. What do I need to do to retain the category values all the time?

Mar 2, 2011i use a gridview to show data from datasource, but i have some column in this gridview that they're not bound. If i go in edit mode, my unbound control show me the textbox to enter value and its ok, but if i modify value thru rowdatabound, now when i go in edit mode, the textbox are not showing as i expect, its just showing the value i put in rowdatabound, but i don't have the textbox to let me enter a new value and update it after.
And more in the same relation: with the two above condition i wrote, when i dont modify value in rowdatabound, i can modify value in prerender event with this line:

but
when again i modify value in rowdatabound, the line above will not work too, box1 is load with a null value

Mar 30, 2010I have a grid view with edit and save buttons when I click on edit it is letting me edit it and if I click on save it is lettingme save the data that I have edited.
The thing is after save is done it is showing the data in edit mode i.e <edit item template > mode I am still seeing the textboxes if I refresh the page then I am seeing it normally.
How can I stop the gridview to show edit mode after the save is done?

When I click on a button, linked code-behind is doing the following :

Jul 18, 2010For ASP.NET, I'm using a DetailsView for insert and edit of a record. For edit mode I don't want to display the primary key field because it should not be changed. For insert mode, I want to display the primary key field because it doesn't exist and the user can specify it via a DropDownList that insures they will pick an unique value. A TemplateField is used in the DetailsView markup for the primary key field (hence the DropDownList for insert mode).
My problem is that I cannot get the primary key field to not display for edit mode and to display for insert mode. In the markup I have:

Jan 25, 2010I have gridview, and in this gridview, I insert a new row dynamically depending upon a value from the database all the way down the table. Even though this is all working well, I need to access a number of controls that I added to the inserted row. Namely, a checkbox and label. When I try to access these controls, I am getting an error message - object not set to reference. Then I tried saying "Gridview1.Rows[rowIndexVal].Cells[1].Text = myTextVal", but what this does is to insert the value on a different row.
Therefore, I have two problems, which I am really desparate to try and solve:How do I access the correct row and control that I have added to my inserted row, andBecause I have a checkbox control on my inserted row, which has an event associated with it, how do I get the selected row the user clicked. When I try doing this using FindControl, I always get a row index of zero.I am using Table object and TableCell to add a new row dynamically to the gridview, and then using ColumnSpan to make it fit the number of columns in the gridview.

Currently, it is working correctly for the first pass and second pass, but fails at the third pass. I want it to just cycle through the DetailsVIewdatabound event, but the cycle breaks on the third pass and I'm not sure why?
