Forms Data Controls :: Any Grid: Multiple Records Per Row (as In ListView) But With Formatted Textboxes?
Dec 2, 2010
I am building a retail shopping website and want multiple db records per row - e.g. 2 records per row side by side. Each record will have an image, a couple of labels from the database to state Item title / name, description etc and I need to add a textbox for the quantity. In clothing section a radio button for size and another textbox for item colour. I will then add a button (any button) to gather the info (recordID and textbox input) and take me to the shopping cart.
Problem: In ListView I get the multiple records but can't get the data from the textboxes: In Gridview I can get the textbox data but can't get multipe records per row.Which grid should I use to get both of these features working?
I have a listview with 4 columns. I want to filter the data based on what's typed in the 4 textboxes above the listview. I'm using an Access DB and running .NET 4.0. From what I've read, I need to call a function using 'OnTextChanged' from my textboxes. Has anyone done this before? Am I on the right track by calling a function or do I need to use something like LINQ?
I want to show a grid view Control that is initially displayed to allow the user to enter multiple records. This grid view will not be tied to a database nor will it need to save the data that is enter into the GridView Control directly to a database.
I'm trying to produce a list of match fixtures (from a SQL server datasource) for the next seven days for my club in the format shown below. I want to group fixtures for each day under a heading which shows that date. I can select the correct records using a SQL datasource but cannot produce the format required using ListView or any other control.
Is there a ASP.NET control which will do this? how to do this using an ASP.NET control if possible or in any other way ?
The fixtures have the following datafields.
Matchdate, Team(1XV, 2XV, etc.), Opponent, Home/Away indicator(H/A) and kick off time.
Example of the report format required
Saturday 13 February
1XV Harrow H 2:30 2XV Enfield A 3:00 Sunday 14 February U15 Hatfield H 11:00 U13 Edgware A 10:30
I have gridview with 3 columns and one textbox in each column. My requirement is when i paste 3 cells of copied data from excel to textbox in first column of gridview automatically 2nd cell data has to be pasted in textbox of 2nd column and 3rd cell data to textbox of 3rd column of gridview. How can it be done and can anyone provide the best code.
i.e. I have two rows and three columns in each column I have 1 textbox and 1 dropdownlist.
What I want is this, When a user selects something from dropdownlist , in selectedindexchanged event, I need to check if selected value from the sender dropdownlist is equal to any of the textboxes of the listview.
i.e. in selectedindexchange event of dropdownlist , I need to find all the textboxes of listview and then iterate them to match with selectedvalue.
Previously, I have done this for 1 row only by using namingcontainer but how to find all textboxes of listview .
I'm using Visual Studio 2010 with .net Framework 3.5. I have a couple of textboxes: First Name, Last Name. As the user begins entering values in those textboxes I'd like the Listview to display the results querying from a database and filter those results as more letters are typed in.
I have an inventory page with a gridview that shows 1 item per record, each item starts with a checkbox in the gridview. Currently users can select multiple records and hit the order button and everything has worked well. Now I have multiple pages in my gridview, and if a user selects a few records from the first page, and then goes to the second page, all the records (checked checkboxes) disappear from the first page.
I want search with multiple names in Name coloumn. example I have pass the criteria to Name cloumn is 'Atul', 'Mayur', 'Suraj' this three names how to pass in a query.
I have a listview that I automatically generated from a database table, enabling editing and inserting on the listview and the EntityDataSource that runs it.
I started customizing the listview templates so that I didn't have to see some of the fields (they're unnecessary from the standpoint of the form), and have alternately tried removing or hiding the unwanted fields. This pretty much patently results in me not being able to insert new records, although updating seems to work just fine. There are no error messages.
I then tried using InsertParameters in the datasource, but that didn't really help either.
In the codebehind I have an onInserting handler that should fill in some of the hidden/removed fields before the record goes to the database.
I've tried pretty much everything I can think of, and even my colleagues are kind of stumped. Why can't I insert records into this table/listview?
Here's the next instalment of my asp.net data access nightmare!
I've got a listview on my page, and when I run the page it correctly displays the data that it should. However, when I add data into the empty new record and hit the 'Insert' button the page posts back but the record isn't inserted. Annoyingly, I don't get any error!
The listview's datasource has an INSERT command and insert parameters specified. The button seems to be triggering the listview's insert method because the ItemInserting event fires.
With no error message to go on I'm struggling to figure out what the problem is. I have a feeling it's something to do with the makeup of the page. The listview in question is nested within an Accordion control and the listview's data source isn't set until runtime, when it's done in the ItemDataBound event of the Accordion control. As I say, though, it does RETRIEVE data correctly, it's just the inserting that's a problem.
I created a new, blank page with just this listview on it using the same code but not nesting it within any other control and hardcoding the datasource instead of setting it at runtime and that works perfectly, so I'm confident that my INSERT command, insert parameters and so forth are correct.
I've tried to get my listview to break, deliberately leaving out insert parameters and so forth just so it'll give me an error message but it never does! It's as if the insert isn't taking place at all, except that because the ItemInserting even takes place I'm assuming that it is.
I have created a ListView with a SQL DataSource. It has Item Template, Alternate Item Template, Insert Item Template, Layout Template, Edit Item Template & Select Item Template. There are delete buttons in the Item Template, Alternate Item Template and Select Item Template. The Delete command is
DeleteCommand="DELETE FROM [ClientNoteType_Lookup] WHERE [ClientNoteTypeCode] = @ClientNoteTypeCode"
which seems correct. I have not selected Use Optimistic Consurrency when I configured the data source. When I click on the Delete button, it deletes the selected record and the record after. THe ClienNoteTypeCode is a varchar(4) field and all codes are unique. It deletes both records in SQL Server when the button is clicked, but one one is deleted on the web page until I refresh the page and then both are deleted.
I have an gridview consisting pager Templet. In pager templet, add first, previous, next and last Buttons to control records. PageSize is 3. First I am binding first 3 records from the list (Consisting 9 records) to the GridView.
My question is:
<1> Is it possible to bind the next 3 records(record4, record5,record6) to GridView when click on next Button?
<2> Similally, Is it possible to bind records for other buttons?
SELECT TOP 5 * FROM MyTableName WHERE ID=@ID ORDER BY NEWID()
As you may know it gets 5 records by random. I use it with dataset and bind the listview to this dataset and in ItemDataBound i want to do some programming (like making some controls visible or invisible) i need itemindex.
but the question is : how can i get the itemindex of a listview when sql query selects records randomly?
I am using a nested listview to display a seperate grid for each group of data returned from my db query. To get this working, I have adapted a piece of code to group the data prior to it being bound:
[Code]....
I am then using the following html markup:
[Code]....
[Code]....
This works as I want it to however some of the fields within the nested table need to be formatted as currency so I am trying to use Eval and {0:c} to do this however the moment I use Eval, the data items cannot be found
DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataRow' does not contain a property with the name '0'.
I have a Vendor table and a Vendor Contracts table.I have a ddl outside of formview that selects VendorID and VendorName from the Vendor table.
FormView gets the VendorID from the ddl attached to the Vendor table and populates formview with records from the Vendor Contract table with the same Vendor ID. The primary key of the Vendor Contract table is VendorContractID.
This works fine as long as there is only one vendor contract. If there are multiple contracts, the ddl shows the vendor twice and aborts when selecting.
If there is only one vendor contract, the vendor is listed once in the ddl and selecting it causes the record to display in formview and is updatable. This is related to an earlier post today solved by PeteNet.
Is it ok to do multiple records update with the following requirements and be safe that the operation will not get timed out? A user requiring me to do the following using a web form:
I. Display a list of accounts in a GridView for multiple records insertion with no client side validation. Each account will accept new reading and posted date values.
II. Once the user presses the submit button, the following steps will be performed for each record at server side:
1. Check if new input data is for new or old period. A checkbox is to be selected in the form. 2. Check if new data has existing related records. Else this is first time insertion; get consumption result and save to db. 3. If records found, get previous reading and date. 4. Check if new reading and date is greater than previous reading/date else should inform the user. 5. Get new consumption = new reading - previous reading and some other operation. 6. A join select statement will be used to get the lowest and highest values (consumption) for current account. 7. Compare the new consumption result with previous consumption to give a status indication for new reading as either high, low or normal to be saved into the db. (# 6 values will be used here) 8. If everything goes ok, save new data into 3 different tables. 9. Display the GridView with new data.
The SQL server and the hosted page are in two different servers.
