For this, I defined a class 'Student' that has the properties StudentName[String] and Exams [a list of ExamGrade objects which has the Exam and Grade properties]. And I am using nested listviews to display the data. Here is the markup for the ListViews:

And Exam class has just two properties.
Now the issue is that I have to press the Edit button [link button] twicw to get the EditItemTemplate. Even then I would get the blank textboxes. So what should I do to make the EditItemTemplate appear on the first click and the TextBoxes to appear with the existing data?

Apr 29, 2010I have a basic list view, in the edit mode I have a dropdown list, and a checkbox, I want it so that if you choose "yes" from the drop down box the check boxs becomes enabled. I know I need to find the control but I keep getting object refrence error with this code.

the listview renders its layout / item template fine but when I click on edit to send it to edit mode it fails to find the dropdownlist ddlQA1YNM which is a bit ironic cause its the ddlQA1YNM that is making the call to ddlQA1YNM_ondatabound. Now it could be with the fact its on the databound stage. Not sure how that plays into the stack. I call ondatabound to determine what the dropdownlist value is and set the enabled status according on the load into edit mode.

The claim id is then passed via url querystring to a claim management page. The claim management page uses a listview to display the various claims and allow users to edit them. I want to use the claim id passed in the url to locate the listview row to open in edit mode, so the user can make changes / alterations to the claim.

Dec 2, 2010I am building a retail shopping website and want multiple db records per row - e.g. 2 records per row side by side. Each record will have an image, a couple of labels from the database to state Item title / name, description etc and I need to add a textbox for the quantity. In clothing section a radio button for size and another textbox for item colour. I will then add a button (any button) to gather the info (recordID and textbox input) and take me to the shopping cart.
Problem: In ListView I get the multiple records but can't get the data from the textboxes: In Gridview I can get the textbox data but can't get multipe records per row.Which grid should I use to get both of these features working?

Mar 30, 2010I have a grid view with edit and save buttons when I click on edit it is letting me edit it and if I click on save it is lettingme save the data that I have edited.
The thing is after save is done it is showing the data in edit mode i.e <edit item template > mode I am still seeing the textboxes if I refresh the page then I am seeing it normally.
How can I stop the gridview to show edit mode after the save is done?

AJAX :: Masked / Mask Edit Extender Not Displaying Currency Correct When In Number Mode?
Mar 3, 2010I have found a problem with the Masked Edit Extender when using it with a culture of Azeri (Latin, az-Latn-AZ). I have not found anywhere that states that the control should not be used with languages that is not included in the list of languages that the ajax control toolkit is translated.
The currency symbol for Azeri is "man." the first problem is that the mask displays this as "man," but the comma is the decimal indicator for Azeri.
Scenario 1
When the DisplayMoney property is set to "right" and the currency is removed by the masked editors script the resulting value looks something like "12,12," the second comma then invalidates the numeric value and all my compare validator which also acts on the same textbox keeps failing because the value is not numeric.
Scenario 2:
When the DisplayMoney property is set to "left" there is always a "0," added to the string because the the script of the masked editor removes the man then gets to the comma (man",") sees it as a decimal indicator and adds the 0 before the comma this happens on the first blur of the textbox each resulting onblur event will add another 0 to the value. But the value is already invalidated by the fact that it again has two commas like 0,12,12.
I get this result even with the Ajaxcontroltoolkit sample site, the changes needed to sample site's MaskedEdit.aspx page can be seen below.
For scenario 1, change the first MaskedEditExtender on the MaskedEdit.aspx page to the following:

On a double click, the selected row goes into Edit mode, which means in my case that edit controls (textboxes, checkboxes and dropdown lists) become visible, and display controls (labels) become invisible. On Page_Load the values in edit controls get saved. Now my question is this: how can I get out of the edit mode if I don't want to save? Can I e.g. handle Escape key? BTW, I use C#.

The user should be able to hit tab and go to the next row to edit said column. I have not found any easy method to accomplish this task. The check mark works fine when not in edit mode. But when in edit mode, the row that is being edited works as expected. But the other rows now show True or False. I want them to have the const HeavyCheckMark in it instead.

Jan 28, 2010I created a sample gridview. However, when I clicked edit mode in one of selected row, it will run away. I need to use the mouse scroll up and down to find that row. As well, once finished the edit (clicked update button), it will run away again. I also need to find the editted row by using the mouse. How do I fix the position?
Furthermore, I also want to fix the header. If I scroll down, the header row will be on the top where ever I scroll to.

Apr 10, 2010Edit mode does not run all the times I have a gridview with custom edit (I have my own textboxes placed in the EditItemTemplate for updating). When the user clicks the Edit button, the gridview goes into edit mode with no problem. In RowDataBound handler, I have the following code which checks if the edit mode is in process then an additional function will be called.

The problem is, I noticed that RowState and function are NOT called every time the GridView goes into edit mode but it goes every other line!!! For simplicity, I have blocked the function and put direct code. I have also tried the Edit functionality provided by the GridView, and surprisingly, it is NOT working!! Notice that in both ways, the gridview is displayed in Edit mode and it does display the
Update Cancel buttons in my second try. It is working fine in all alternate rows! I hope it is clear.
