I trying to figure out why some of my link buttons that were working fine have now stoped working this also includes those in the gridview for paging.
I tried putting a new grid view in with the same results.
I am working on an ASP.NET C# web application in Visual Web Developer Express 08', with MySql database.
Everything works just fine, except one problem that drives me crazy for few weeks...
My application randomaly (or not) stop responding, or just freezing for couple of minutes.
I am sure that the problem is connected somehow to my connection with MySql db.
In the debug window in VWD I get over and over the line:
"A first chance exception of type 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlException' occurred in MySql.Data.dll"
Note that in each page load I call a function that kills all sleeping MySql connections, so I don't really think that my problem is 'too many connections'.
The error isn't constant, and not occures only in one page, it occures in many pages (that contains mysql access code), randomaly.
1. I want to stop multiple clicks on a submit button. Once the user has clicked the submit button,he has been redirected to next page. but he should not be allowed to click submit button multiple times.
2. once the user has gone to the next page, he should not be able to come back to previuos page,; if at all he comes back-- all the form fields should get cleared. how?
I am displaying a list of songs in a table and each one has the flash player next to it.Is there a way i can stop the flash player when a user clicks on another song in the table. currntly they both play togetther.

i am trying to do is set my page up so that when a user clicks on a row in the gridview a hidden checkbox is unchecked... i am new to asp.net but never thought something as simple like this could be so difficult to work out... i've been on it for around 5 weeks now, i started this on my first day of the website, and have actually designed and written the entire site while still trying to work this out... i first did this on the selectedindexchanged event:

problem is the above code throws up errors...! once i take out the where clause it unchecks every checkbox and writes it back... is there a way i can say just uncheck the selectedrow checkbox and update that one row???

I have a few gridviews on my page. Each gridview row click drives another grid. I need to keep the gridview rows highlighted as the user clicks through the grids. So it is eazy to figure out which rows are being selected on each grid. How can I do this.

If i click on the dropDownlist Contained by the row, this algo launch a postback, so I can never see this DropDownList deployed.I need a Way to stop this postback. Is teher a solution for this?
I have a gridview which on the left hand column it will be the Select button, but I think when we did this in Gridview, it will select mulitple button (it's like a checklist). I have made some changes, but I still cannot get the button to select only 1 row instead of multiple.

View 5 RepliesWe have a page the we have to write where users are shown 'pages' of data from our database they then select the row they want and we take them into another part of the application where they can work with the data.
When we use the built in paging (in the gridview) it is just too slow, as there is too much data.
We have written paging into our stored procedure that gets the data to work around this. The stored procedure works just fine and it is quite fast.
How can I get 'paging' buttons into my gridview when I am not using the built in gridview paging?I can keep it simple if I have to (next and previous only) but it would be better to have a 'first', 'previous', 'next', 'last' type buttons.
I cannot seem to figure out how to get these buttons into the gridview however.
some sample code (preferably vb) that would show this? (or something similar)
Built in paging is not an option.

I am new to ASP.NET but have had about a year of experience with VB.Net. Currently I am working on a webpage where I can download my inventory list from a GridView control to an excel spreadsheet. The routine is very straight forward however I cannot get it to stop duplication data in the spreadsheet. When I run my routine it inserts the gridview twice in the spreadsheet, the second one immediately to the right of the first table...

I have tried a little bit of everything to stop the duplication and am completely stumped.
I'm getting duplicated rows of data showing up in my GridViews. I have two GridViews, each showing different data. I'm using SQL queries to retrieve the data from 2 database tables (1 query pulls from one table and the other query pulls from a second table, but references the first table in the WHERE clause). The GridViews were not duplicating data until after I added the Data Binding code to each GridView event handler and the button click event handler (outside of the GridView). I double checked my SQL queries by running them in TOAD and did not get any duplicated rows. So the issue is not with the SQL queries. It appears to be the GridViews causing it, or the Data Binding, or combination of those two, but I'm not sure what it is.Has anyone heard of or seen this? If needed, I can post my VB code and GridView code.

I stepped through the debugger and it does go to the onNextClicked event but does not do any thing. I have a custom grid control and the only thing different then the instruction is rather than using the page_int event I am using the gridview1_init event for this linegridview1.pagertemplate = new fancypagertemplate)gv);I was just wondering if some one has successfully used this code before? Or what other steps could I take to debug this issue?
View 2 RepliesI have a page with several asp buttons defined on a Master Page. I only wish these buttons to be activated when they are selected by the mouse click. I have one button on the content of the form, that is the button I want to execute if the user hits enter and it is selected or they use the mouse. So in a nutshell. how do I stop the buttons on the master page from executing unless the user mouses them?

But everytime when I try to run my page, it shows me below underlined error and point to my gvTimeSheet.DataBind() in page_load.
"Unable to cast object of type 'System.EventArgs' to type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs'."
I also tried to enable / disable button in HTML but it just against from what I need it to be.
Example, sheet_status = true, I do not need to enable the button.

Here's the background: I have a GridView with suggested meetings. A logged in member can view the suggested meetings and click button "Show" to view all suggested occasions for every meeting. What I want to do now is to hide button "Show" for a logged in member if she/he owns the meeting (i.e. is the one who suggested it = Session["memberID"]).
My problem is this: All buttons "Show" are visible. I want to hide button "Show" in those cases where Session["memberID"] is identical to dr[0]. 'ID' in the SQL statement is the ID of the meeting in the database and meetingID are the ID's of the meetings shown in the GridView.

I have two command buttons in my gridview that I need to set tooltips for. Both buttons show as an image and I need to fix it so it show a message like 'Click here to edit'. The gridview control is databound and I have the all of the functionality of it working, I just need to be able to do this.
