when I click 'edit' I can edit rows in the the grid view but when I click 'update' nothing happens - I can still see the 'update' and 'cancel' buttons and it looks like the changes are kept but the database is not realy being updated. The Javascript is running but nothing happens. Doesn't even look the the 'RowUpdated' event is in effect.here is my code:
In page1 on clicking template field named Edit the record goes into detailsveiw (Edit mode) to next page.
In detailsview, I have already set True to AutoGenerateEditButton so that the user update record and Click UPDATE or CANCEL.
I want to show a message "Record Updated Successfully" on clicking update and the page redirects to the Page1 and refresh the page1 with the updated record.
I have a databound gridview using datatable as datasource. Template fields are used to edit the row content. This cell value should get updated in the datatable on text_changed event without using gridView edit. Is it possible to overload the GridViewEditEventHandler for this purpose.
I have a Gridview with about 6 templated columns hooked up to SQL, with a Save button below the grid.
When save is clicked, I loop through each row, and write each row back out to SQL.
Can you recommend a good way for me to tell whether the row has changed so I can avoid re-writing the row when nothing has changed?
This is not only for performance, but I also have a request to write out a "Last Modified Date" along with each record. So for that, I would need to know whether the row has changed.
I saw someone mentioned that the Gridview.RowState could be used for this, but I don't see how.
One alternative I see is to re-read each row from the database first, to see if anything changed. Another alternative might be to set a dirty-bit on each Textchanged, SelectedItemChanged, etc, for the row, but I'm not sure where to store that.
I'm trying to understand when to use the type property and when to use the dbtype property. I looked online but couldn't find a good article that said when and why.
why does my Image Button Type for EDIT in CommandField causes postback on my page? But when i try to change the CommandField type to LINK ( <asp:CommandField ShowEditButton="True" EditImageUrl="~/resources/images/img-icon-edit.png"/ >)
I have a link button in my gridview. It is populating correctly; however, being I am populating the values in the gridview using "Eval()" method I don't know how to get the value of the selected Link Button (which is only selected by a user actually clicking the Link Button).
The user can click on the text directly (instead of showing the "Select" auto created). I want to be able to capture the item they have clicked on's Text property.
Example:Column 1
Value1 Value2 Value3
When the click on "Value2" I want the text property to be stored in a string variable (In this case the text would be "Value2"). In the past I have captured this through GridView.SelectedValue; however, I am not using autopopulate selected button so I need to do this manually and I am unsure as to how I will do this.
Here is my code for HTML and I have not created any code for C# (I want to capture the item using C# in my Grd_Tables_SelectedIndexChanged Event) [code]....
I have a validation attribute that inherits from ValidationAttribute. However, the particular usage of this attribute applies to lists only (IEnumerable really). How can I specify the usage of this property to only be used with items that inherit from IEnumerabe?
I am working on a project where we want to keep a history of a particular object. On save I want a method on the object that will determine if it has changed so that I can call a method to save its current state to history. E.g. I populate a form from an object the user makes changes (or possibly not) and submits the from. I want to take my original object and a copy of that object that has been updated from the form and determine if it has changed at all. Additionally I may decide at some point that certain properties don't matter (e.g. if Name changes I won't track it).
I'm thinking the easiest/most flexible way to accomplish this would be if I could give the properties I care about a custom attribute [ChangeTracked] and then I could use reflection to get a list of all properties with that attribute and loop through them comparing A.property == B.property to determine if any have changed.
Would this work? Is there a significantly better/easier way to handle this, like some sort of built in method you can add to an object to determine if the values of any properties have changed? Whatever the solution some psudo code would be appreciated. Just as a point of clarification the solution needs to determine if the value I care about has actually changed not just if it has been assigned since it was created i.e. if I set Name="bob" and it was already "bob" before my assignment this does not count as a change.
I am using Visual Studio 2010 for the first time. I program in MS Access for a long time at decide to move to the ASP world. My problem is that I design my first web .aspx default page with a simple data grid. I decided to connect the data via the business object data adapter. I use the Dataset designer to great the dataset. All looks well and works fine on my PC. But when moved to the server I get the Terror "The type specified in the TypeName property of ObjectDataSource not found".
From my reading for the past two days, it seems that something need to be define (a class of some sort) to let ASP know where to find the data adapter. If this is the case, then why did not Visual Studio 2010 did not automatically build the class in the appropriate BIN/ APP_CODE or Global directory and more importantly, why would it work fine on the PC , but not on the server. I am totally blind-sided by Visual Studio 2010 allowing me to design and test on PC but throws me a curl ball with moving to a server. Am I assuming to much from Visual Studio 2010???
What is the solution.. What I am looking for is to know where exactly where and how to write this class. I am so new to ASP, all of my reading just confusing me more and more by reading so many post on this error. I know it is probably a simple class to write somewhere, but why did not Visual Studio 2010 write it accordingly.
So I have a class library project, a web service project and a website project.
In both the web service project and website project, I make a reference to the class library project, then in the website project I make web reference to the web service in my localhost.
So my web service project have the below web method
<WebMethod()> Public Function HelloWorld(ByVal tempClass As testSolutionClassLibrary.Class1) As String
Return "Hello World"
End Function
I don't understand why when I try to call the above web method from my website project, the parameter change from "testSolutionClassLibrary.Class1" to "testSolutionWebServiceRef.Class1"? Shouldn't it remain as "testSolutionClassLibrary.Class1"?
How can I create a UserControl with a collection-type property which has a collection editor?
I've a CompositeControl with an ArrayList-type property which has CollectionEditor-type designer. You can see this property on Properties window with a "..." button which launches a collection editor. This works fine and all but I want to apply the same to a UserControl and I've couldn't manage to pull it off so far. I've done the same thing what I've done with my CompositeControl but the property either doesn't even show on Properties window of the UserControl or shows as a single value property with no "..." editor button.
I have a FormView that allows a user to register for a company event. I want to do a couple of things with this form.
1. I need to write this data to a MS SQL database
2. I need to send an email confirmation of their registration to their email.
I know how to do both of these things, but i am having trouble doing both at the same time.
It would be nice if I could do it in one click, but I coded it into two pages to try to help simplify it.
The first page allows the user to input their information into a formview and when they click the submit button, it places those answers into session variables:
[Code]....
[Code]....
The Second page confirms the users information by taking those session variables and placing them into labels:
[Code]....
[Code]....
However, after I place information into the formview on the first page, it throws up this error:
"Conversion from type 'TextBox' to type 'String' is not valid".
I have 1 function that reah all components of the page that call this function.
[Code]....
in this function I set enabled Property of components via parameter "en" but I must cast the object to type manually I want to clear swith statement and change it to 1 line for example: [Code]....
I have a gridview which I'm trying to get the display of phonenumbers listed in a certain display format; (xxx) xxx-xxxx.If I have the code such as this, it displays the unformatted phone number and (000) 000-0000 for the null items.
I am having problem with rowdatabound, want to add if conditions intact, i am using teh following two if conditions and they don't look right. i found them on google.
If e.Row.RowState = DataControlRowState.Normal Or e.Row.RowState = DataControlRowState.Alternate Then end if If e.Row.RowState = DataControlRowState.Edit Or e.Row.RowState = 5 Then end if
With datagrids i use these and they work excellent:
If e.Item.ItemType = System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListItemType.Item OrElse e.Item.ItemType = System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListItemType.AlternatingItem Then end if.....
I think I found some bugs on the asp.net 4 RadioButton control rendering.
Firstly, I don't understand why the "Value" property was removed from RadioButton control? What a reason?
Secondary, why the "GroupName" property of RadioButton control changed after render? This property must be a static!!! This situation is a same then we try to use the HtmlInputRadioButton. For example, if we have the aspx file like
I'm trying to pass email addresses from an array to a stored procedure, then display the results in my gridview. I get the following error:No mapping exists from object type System.String[] to a known managed provider native type.On this line: Dim DR As SqlDataReader = MyCommand.ExecuteReader
I have a Interface for CRUD operations.and some classes implemented it.I want to design a user control that have two buttons:insert and delete,to reuse this control over my forms.this class must have a instance of my interface to do insert and delete tasks (if I'm right).this is my interface:
[Code]...
my problem is,i can't declare a property of type ISchoolSystemRepository in user control, because i must pass T for interface.
