I have created a web app using the AJAX Enabled Web App template. I now want to add an advertising banner using an adobe flash file, which requires the use of the "Shockwave flash object" in the Components tab of the toolbox. I have added the relevant .dll file under references but still the option for the control in the toolbox is greyed out.
Is it possible to use the component tools with an AJAX web app?
Are the component tool available when using the express version of Visual Web Developer 2010?
If I can not use "Shockwave flash object" another method of creating an ad banner on my app?
I had to format my hard disk and reinstall the Visual Studio 2005 Enterprise and SQL 2005 Standardprograms.
While my program worked perfectly before and still works ok on my second computer, I get the following error message on the formated computer:

In this case I use a datasource control for a datalist and the parameter list is being built ba the system.
The DBType is created for the smalldatetime feild
how do I add the property named 'DbType'.
am getting problem in SQL Server 2005 installation. When option of 'select components u want to install' comes, all components appears to be disable.
View 5 RepliesI have several controls on a page that I want to bind the enabled property to a couple of properties in code behind that are set on Page_Load. Here's an example of what I'm using to bind to the properties.

This works fine once the page is posted back for the first 4 controls on the page.Here's the 1st control that doesn't get disabled like I expect it to. The expression is the same in the Enabled property so I'm not sure why it isn't working.

I've got 2 problems with this approach:
1. I need it to happen the first time the page is loaded rather than after a postback.
2. I need it to work for all of the controls on the page having the expression.
It's too late in the development process to rewrite the page so I can't use jQuery & knockoutjs for example to do this all on the client side.
Is it possible to change a parameter's property after the uer has made a selection or filled in another parameter field? I'm using VS2005
Case:
- 3 parameter fields; Country,Station,Carrier all three are textfields and are allowed to stay 'blank'.
- When the user enters a Country-code in the 'Country' parameter field, the 'Carrier' parameter should become a required field.
I did some searching on the net, but haven't found the solution. I started to wonder if it's actually possible?
When I create buttons in my Details View using the AutoGenerateEditButton they are created with Links. Is there a way to change this to Buttons?

So far, I've seen (and I'm using the following) scripts to show/hide a div or other controls depending on another control in ASP.NET

and of course, my div in html like

and that works fine when the user selects either option of the radiobuttonlist. However, when I assign that radiobuttonlist a value of 1 or yes on my Page_Load on code behind, that isn't (and probably can't be) caught by jQuery, and my div remains invisible even though the control has a value of Yes/1. So, do I need to set the visibility of that div from code behind, or is there a way in jQuery to force a scan of these dependencies after i've set the values for the main controls in code behind?

The objects are generated by ADO.NET Entity Framework. Organizations is its own object, but also a property of Profile (each user belongs to one organization). Now I understand what the error message is saying, just not sure how else I'm supposed to do this.

I want user to be able to scroll in a div to see all the rows. But setting div's overflow property to true. When I starts scrolling header goes away. Is it possible to make header static. So that I can sort or do any kind of other operations.

I have ASPxDataView and ASPxRadioButtonList within item template. i also have two SQLDataSource's (first fill ASPxDataView, second ASPxRadioButtonList). They are using other database tables connected with the foreign key. View 3 RepliesI'm playing with an EntityDataSource and specifying a simple order by clause containing one column name, for instance "it.[DNS_NAME]".
When I run the following:

I get an EntitySqlException saying that @sort's type is incorrect. It is expecting a Transient.rowtype that matches one of the columns. What is going on here? Order by parameters don't really have a meaningful type other than a string in my opinion. When I try specifying DbType.String instead of TypeCode.String, the same error is thrown.

I have an output parameter called '@packIds', that I create in ADO.Net using the code below:

I'm trying to compare a parameter of type String with a database field of type ntext. Below is my vb code. carDescription is a field in the database table that is of type ntext. The code didn't work because you can't use the equality operator.

I am using Visual Studio 2010 for the first time. I program in MS Access for a long time at decide to move to the ASP world. My problem is that I design my first web .aspx default page with a simple data grid. I decided to connect the data via the business object data adapter. I use the Dataset designer to great the dataset. All looks well and works fine on my PC. But when moved to the server I get the Terror "The type specified in the TypeName property of ObjectDataSource not found".
From my reading for the past two days, it seems that something need to be define (a class of some sort) to let ASP know where to find the data adapter. If this is the case, then why did not Visual Studio 2010 did not automatically build the class in the appropriate BIN/ APP_CODE or Global directory and more importantly, why would it work fine on the PC , but not on the server. I am totally blind-sided by Visual Studio 2010 allowing me to design and test on PC but throws me a curl ball with moving to a server. Am I assuming to much from Visual Studio 2010???
What is the solution.. What I am looking for is to know where exactly where and how to write this class. I am so new to ASP, all of my reading just confusing me more and more by reading so many post on this error. I know it is probably a simple class to write somewhere, but why did not Visual Studio 2010 write it accordingly.

I've a CompositeControl with an ArrayList-type property which has CollectionEditor-type designer. You can see this property on Properties window with a "..." button which launches a collection editor. This works fine and all but I want to apply the same to a UserControl and I've couldn't manage to pull it off so far. I've done the same thing what I've done with my CompositeControl but the property either doesn't even show on Properties window of the UserControl or shows as a single value property with no "..." editor button.

I have a requirement of accessing Microsoft word Document on asp.net web page. It should be opened in asp.net page only. And one should be able to write anything in it. I knw the reference to Microsoft office object library need to be added. that way we can save a word doc or can append any doc on machine. But to allow it to be visible to all on browser ,we should follow the procedure as for activeX controls. by creating Object tag in page source section.
