How can I chage the defaultmode of a asp:formview ? I tried this below one but didn't work;
FormView1.DefaultMode = FormViewMode.Edit
My formview defaultmode is readonly and I wanted to change it to edit
how to place a row in the edit mode in gridview on button click. have tried the :
GridView1.EditIndex = 0;
has the issue that the button has to be clicked twice to the row to become editable.
then in this way the old update and cancel will not appear.
I am interested in ADO.NET method.
I have a page where I have a tab container and four tabs. the problem is on the first tab "manage quote request" I have a Gridview with the quote request general informatin listed and have a template field created with a link button to databind to the formview quote details. the porblem comes in when after I click on the select linkbutton. the Formview loads right. Then Whe I try to click on the edit linkbuttin in the form view I have to click it twice to change the mode to edit.

I created a gridview and bound it to a datasource, I had some problems that do not relate to this post.
then I created another datasource programmatically and deleted the old one,
and I bound it using gridview.DataSource = source.
now when I click the edit button the first time nothing happens, when I click edit on another row, the previous row I clicked on changes to editing mode and shows update cancel links, then when I click a 3rd one, the 2nd one changes to editing mode etc...
When i run the following code i get an error when gridview changes mode to Edit. stating that you can't change string to decimal!
To get around the occurance i want to disable code when in Edit mode or resolve another way?

once it got selected  the approve is changed as "Activated" once it is activated the value will be updated as "1" in database it cannot be changed further into approveIT CANNOT BE CHANGED FURTHER INTO APPROVE and no other action should me made once it is changed to "approved" i.e "1"

I have gridview that has month as a column. When the user clicks a row's edit button, that row goes into edit mode. I have created a drop-down list for month in edit mode with the values 1-12. Right now, the drop-down list shows 1. I would like it to show the current value for that row. How do I do this? Here's the code for my gridview:

I am having gridview and i have check box for each row. There are 2 buttons ,accept and reject outside the gridview. If I click accept button, all the checked rows fields value should change to accept and if i click reject button all the checked rows column value should change to reject. I am developing a web based application for a Motorolla Mc 9090, it is a wireless barcode scanner running windows mobile 5.0.
The idea is to centralize the inventory in one database, by scanning items, serials, bins etc.
I have a set of pages each containg forms, where the user will have to scan an item, and automaticall the scanner has a carriege return (ENTER key) the idea was to have the user simply scan, and the page would automatically click the button posting to server for processing and then the server would reply.
For some reason i cannot get the focus() to work as well as the defaultbutton propperty of the form. There is also 1 more problem, the readOnly textboxes look the same as the non readOnly textboxes, even with the backcolor property changed.(guessing this is just MS)
I have a search page, detailspage with formview and formview has multiple templates (item, edit, insert).
At the master page (I use vb as code), I have a menu with menuitems (for example "New Contact"), what I want is when I click on the New Contact menu item, I get redirected to the page with the formview on it and the mode of the formview is set to insert.
How can I do this?

i have this on my gridview RowDataBound method. and my grid view has BoundFields which i use to display data, it is always on insert mode. i wand and edit mode. i want the bound textbox fields to change colour on onmouseover and on select to match the entire row colour background as i have specify on d code below. how do i do that? i knw how to change everything bt dnt knw how to oldy change the selected row and changing it only on onmouseover n select. the only thing i wanna change is d controls backcolour

I got a function to load a grid view and works fine. Then, I got a button, when click, I wanted to add a new row into the grid, what I did is I add a new to to the dataset and rebind the dataset to the grid view.
The problem I faced is that is it able to add a new row, but it only shows ONE column only, which is the most left column.

im now created a function where i can import excel file to be displayed in gridview and then insert the data from gridview into database.
It is running smoothly until i copied the page into another file. Suddenly, when i try to display the gridview, it does not appear.
I've try copied everything exactly the same like the original one, but still failed.
Does anyone have experience like this before?
