What I'd like to do is a find-and-replace for certain words appearing in the body text of a web page. Every time a certain word appears in the body text, I'd like to convert that word into a hyperlink that links to another page on our site.
View 5 RepliesI have a repeater set up which takes all records from a SQL DB table and displays. One of the items in this repeater is a Label. The Label's job is to display the 'Responded' field of the database, which is a 'bit' Datatype.
However, when the label displays naturally, it will show TRUE or FALSE. As this is not appropriate for the end-user they would prefer If True = Completed and if False = Outstanding.
I have written the script to do this in an ItemDataBound field, so that (hope my understanding of itemdatabound is correct), everytime a record is found it checks to see what the value is in responded field and 'if true then do X else do Y'.
However, when I have ran it through debug mode it shows that the Label Text of the label is just "". Therefore it will always show 'Outstanding'. In addition, the AssociatedControlID is also blank (""), although I am unsure whether this would present a problem or not.

I have a column in my repeater which allows as many as 255 characters and causes the page contents pushed away to the right if any of the record has all 255 characters in that column. How can I tell it to wrap the text after 50 characters?

I have a web page that has a repeater bound to a data source. I beed to change a label inside the repeater based on the data that is in each repeater item. For instance, for the first item it might be one thing, and for the next item the label may be something else. I am currently doing some processing in the prerender event, but I don't know if I can or how to access the data source fields there. Datalist results. I want them to hyperlink to another page with a querystring. I moved a hyperlink control into the EDIT TEMPLATE box and removed the origianal label that was in the box. I did some editing and was able to come up with a hyperlink, but I really need a hyperlink to a new page with the original result of the datalist being the querystring parameter. For example...

Unfortunately it always adds the server name to the beginning of their link. [URL] I was wondering is there any way to change that within the control. or should I have it pass a query string to a url handler that will response.redirect them to their actual page?

I need a GridView with 6 columns, one of which ("ItemID") is a HyperLink who's URL and text is determined from the C# code as I will get that data from an SQL database
INITIALLY, what I wanted to do, which would have been easy as pie, is:

HOWEVER, this does not work because every row in the Item ID column is filled with "System.Web.UI.WebControls.HyperLink". Apparently, this is what the HyperLink's toString() method returns. Apparently, you can't just throw a HyperLink into a DataRow and call it a day. I need to know how to make this ItemID column into such a HyperLink. It doesn't necessarily HAVE to be a HyperLink control, it just has to be able to call my javascript function on the aspx page, "popUp(URL)"
To give you a visualization of what I'm trying to achieve: this is a change log for an inventory system. The ItemID column indicates what item was altered. However, simply just having a number there doesn't say much, so I'm trying to create a link with the text, for example, "42 (motherboard x)". In other words reader["ItemID"] + " (" + reader["Description"] + ")", and that link will run a javascript function I have called popUp(URL) which takes a URL and opens it in a new window of specific size and location, to view that item's details.
I've tried various other methods such as disabling AutoGenerateColumns and manually create a HyperLinkField, but to no avail, because I couldn't get it to run my javascript function that way.
we're creating a GridView to display news articles programmatically (not using a SQL database).
We can create & display the GridView, but are having a devil of the time to get the hyperlinks in SetupGrid() attached to the titles
of the articles in the GridView. Below is our .aspx code and .vb code of how we create the GridView. Any ideas on what we should do to get the hyperlinks array of strHyperlinks() in SetupGrid() to be applied to the titles in column 1 of the GridView?

I have a CSV file with a date column. My database date format is MM/dd/yyyy and the column in which I wish to place the date is called "enddate"
The CSV date column may hold all sort of (sometimes INVALID) values for the date:

Now, my assumption is that the format in the CSV date column is: d-mm-yyyy
My thought now is:import the date in a tablecolumn "datetext" as flat text.
Then run a SQL query that checks the "datetext" and tries to convert it to mm/dd/yyyy, if the conversion fails, just insert null into column "enddate" else insert the datevalue.
what SQL command can do this? Is there perhaps a function?
im trying to convert this into a repeater but finding it a little difficult trying to figure out how to seperate it and make it work.
Basically the original code is HTML, and I want to use that but since my menu system is coming from a DB, I want to be able to bind that menu system and have it automatically just bind the menus with the x level deep nav bars etc... which this HTML code does:

Sure, 1 repeater on the page but because this is generic, I know I dynamically have to create and add a repeater and bind the submenu items (and their children if any) to this repeater...and adding this repeater to the current item.
I have a stored procedure (For Eg: sp_GetAvlData) that accepts a number of parameters, 3 of which are TimeFrom, TimeTo (as varchar) and TimeInterval (as int), formulates a Dynamic query and executes itself. So for instance, if I call the proc as follows:

dtAvl is the datatable containing the results of my stored procedure.
The next step for me is to make each of the cells (except the cells in the first column) as a Hyperlink so that when clicked upon a cell, it populates 2 textboxes with the selected Timeslot and Name or ID (ID field is not displayed in Gridview). The textboxes are located on the same page but outside of the Gridview control.
The Challenge that I'm facing out here are:
1) As you can see, the field names being generated are not fixed and I have no control over them.
2) Because the field names are not fixed I'm not sure I can implement this using the Templatefields or BoundFields of Gridview.
Is there any way to achieve the Hyperlinking of these cells within the Gridview?
I have a requirement to create multiple hyperlinks dynamically in a single GridView Column. The number of hyperlinks are not not known in advance and will depend on the results brought up by a query. How do I create the same?
