A common problem in repeater controls where you want to display data for update (like a list of user phone numbers that can be updated and submitted back to the database) is where to store the database unique row identifier. So, I created a custom Textbox control that I've added a Data property to. I populate this data property with the unique row id. The problem is that when I post back the list and go through the repeater items the control's data property is null. The custom control looks like this:
[Code]....
The tag in the repeater looks like this:
[Code]....
I have a custom checkbox with the same data property and it works fine. I actually put in the same repeater with the textbox control and the checkbox control have the row id on postback but the textbox did not. Is there some limitation on the textbox control that might be causing this.

I have a section of a page with a repeater control on it, taking information from a database, to display the latest information available to users. However it would be preferable to be able to format this information, so that it can have line returns, bold and underline in it. Rather than just single line plain text.
What is the best way to accomplish this? At the moment this is what I have: [Code]....

my web application i use FindControl to retrieve a Control By Name (it returns an System.Web.UI object). The control can be of various type and I don't want to treat them differently: I'd like to set the Text property to a defined string. I hope there's a class that I may use to cast the control and set the Text property.

I have a web page that has a repeater bound to a data source. I beed to change a label inside the repeater based on the data that is in each repeater item. For instance, for the first item it might be one thing, and for the next item the label may be something else. I am currently doing some processing in the prerender event, but I don't know if I can or how to access the data source fields there. Where and how do I get access to the data in each item so I can change the label text?

Inside repeater's itemtemplate I have a Panel server control.I need to assign special Id for it, because I need to work with some javascript functions that use this Id.
In repeater ItemDataBound event I have this:
pnlButtonsPanel.ID = pnlButtonsPanel.ID + DataBinder.Eval(e.Item.DataItem, "ID");
But this solution is not good because after a postback the page is re -rendered and I lose the new ID. (And I don't want to rebind repeater after every postback)
I tried to set the ID on aspx page like that:
<asp:Panel id='<%# Eval("ID") %>'
and some other variations but always get compile errors.

I have an aspx page which has 5 text controls as follow:
<asp:TextBox id="txtStudent1" runat="server" textmode="SingleLine"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:TextBox id="txtStudent2" runat="server" textmode="SingleLine"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:TextBox id="txtStudent3" runat="server" textmode="SingleLine"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:TextBox id="txtStudent4" runat="server" textmode="SingleLine"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:TextBox id="txtStudent5" runat="server" textmode="SingleLine"></asp:TextBox>
How can i set new text to each of these controls dynamically in .cs
WITHOUT explicitly doing something like this:
txtStudent1.text = "freshment";
txtStudent2.text = "Sophomore";
txtStudent3.text = "junior";
txtStudent4.text = "senior";
txtStudent5.text = "grad";
Can I use the for loop and increment the digit in the text control when setting its text?
ex:
For (int i=0; i<5; i++)
{
"txtStudent" + i .....
}
